Regarding Pokémon scaling

I've noticed with Pokémon that they only get based off of their own feats. This can sometimes be pretty tough to do when gauging a Pokémons power. I wanna suggest an alternative with scaling.

Use weakness and advantages against other types - Self explanatory, so here is an example.

A fire type Pokémon takes an attack from a grass type Pokémon, taking double the damage output that Pokémon can normally put out, yet the fire Pokémon is still fighting. Let's say the water Pokémpn can exert 10 megatons of force. Since fire is weakened by two times, he essentially took 20 megatons of force (assuming the water type Pokémon is fighting all out). This would apply the other way. The fire Pokémon exerts 10 tons of force and a water Pokémon tanks it. We divide it by 2 times due to its resistance, finding that it only took 5 tons of force.

Would this possibly work?

(Note: It would apply when a Pokémon is known to be going all out, and rules when looking at PIS would still apply.)

Pokemon types being stronger than others is canon though, various trainers and Gym leaders in game have mentioned it, not to mention its pretty important in the anime (bar a few...infamous scenes).

I think giving a multiplier to the actual rating would fall under Calc Stacking, but saying "X Pokemon is stronger against Metal enemies via Fire moves" should be fine.

Well, you said it was Game Mechanics, which is usually ruled as non-canon material. I don't really see how its PIS though, when its a basic law of how the universe functions.

@Dark Well, we'd need a way to find results. I hpnestly feel like dividing results would work best. Or at least have specific rules for scaling regarding typing and such.

I said game mechanics because only the games prioritizes weaknesses and super-effective moves. I mentioned PIS because of the anime's infamous "aim for the horn" and electric swellow .
