Question about CAPE storm feats

So, pretty much wished to ask what CAPE is for.

I know the KE calc for storms is assuming that the water (cloud or otherwise) is being moved at massive speeds to a point to create a storm.

If I understood correctly, CAPE is taking already present water and condensating it into a storm, yes?
