So I was wondering, Utsuho was defeated by the Protags of Subterranean Animism, that being Reimu and Marisa respectively. So if they were able to fight off and defeat Utsuho, who is considered Star level due to her relationship with the Black Sun god Yatagarasu, wouldn't Reimu and Marisa and those considered higher than them be considered Star level?

Furthermore, to make sure it was Marisa and Reimu who fought off Utsuho, I checked the best place for that information, the Touhou wiki and a video of the fight with Utsuho.

Well, due to the mere stat difference, they would still need to do some form of damage to stop Utsuho from winning through vitality. Since Star buster is 55555555.555556x more powerful than a Large Planet Buster. So they'd need to be somewhat relative to even cause damage, right?

I also did the math, the lowball of course.

(1.5x1032 ) / ( 2.7x1024 ) = 55555555.555556

Not really. The very idea of a Spell Card battle is so that weaklings can fight stronger characters on equal grounds because a Spell Card fight invalidates sheer strength as a winning strategy.

By that logic, literally everyone who appeared in a game would be on the same page, power-wise. This includes people like Hecatia up to people like Cirno.

Well, naturally, we haven't seen Cirno beat anyone too above themselves Storywise, we've only really seen things from select character's point of view, Reimu and Marisa, the most.

In EoSD, when we fight Cirno and their ability to make us lose if we're bad enough is evidently because of game mechanics, similarly how an lvl 1 pidgey can beat a level 100 Arceus. If we could all instantly win in for the first boss in the game, it would make them totally useless.

Cirno still fought and made Marisa go serious. She defeated Okina too. Also fought Sanae in Soku and defeated her. Point is: We can't use Spell Card fights to scale, as the very idea of a Spell Card fight is to not take into account the relative strength of characters and it's too inconsistent to scale from.

Yeah Spell Card fights aren't designed to be harmful let alone dangerous so useing that as a base doesn't hold strenght also Danmaku battles are a canon thing as shown in the battle between the Moon 'invanders' againts Yorihime and the danmaku battlles in the begining of curiosity of asia, and it has been stated to be non-fatal and not a contest of abilities.

Saikou The Lewd King said:
Not even that. Unless it's a speed feat from the attacks themselves (Such as people dodging lasers)
Wasn't trying to refer to flight/movement speed btw but I was technically right about it for speed though.

It has been stated that without spellcard rules, pretty much no Youkai (with a couple exceptions) should be able to stand up to Reimu, so I don't see any reason why Okuu should be more powerful than our Red-White Miko. Even so, this series makes powerscaling weird, so I dunno.

The idea that Reimu > All Youkai is absolutely ridiculous.

And Okuu isn't 4-C "as a youkai", her 4-C AP comes from being the living shrine of a Lunarian God. Scaling anyone to Okuu because she's "Just a youkai" is completely missing the point.

Koishi's dialogue in the extra stage of SA implies that the one that gave Okuu her powers (being Kanako) should be comparable or stronger than Okuu herself. She also says that Reimu must be stronger than Okuu as well.

Take that as you will, anyhow.

Touhou characters often talks about Spell Card fights like it's a matter of Strength even though it's not. The same applies here.
