It's speculation if he got it because he merged with Kami since it was noted that he lacked the abilities of a Guardian of Earth and needed Dende for that, he also lacks the Instantaneous Movement and the ability to sense god ki [he admitted he couldn't] while Dende could. I disagree since the only ability he got was the Far-Seeing Art, but it's only in Toei continuity in the Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans.

Nevermind - I misread the OP and thought the reasoning was because Piccolo merging with Kami was the same as him possessing Kami.

I have to say that despite being a Warrior-type Namekian, Piccolo clearly benefits from being one of the Nameless Namekian's halves, since creating clothes and objects out of thin air is something that only Dragon-Type Namekians can do, yet Piccolo can also do it.
Overall, I disagree with this upgrade.
