If that would be possible to knock out PM then Child emperor would have done that instead of desperately trying to destroy ever part of his body

If Natsu's willing to kill and has no idea about PM's resurrection, why would he not go for the kill? Besides that, PM seems to have greater mobility, will have greater AP after resurrecting and has a form that resists fire. He should take this imo

Because it's willing to kill, not beat the knocked out opponent to death. Natsu's AP is the same without using his fire and Phoenix Man has injured himself by absorbing too much before.

But you're arguing that Natsu will go for the KO rather than going for the kill. Besides, it's pretty hard to 'just' knock someone out with regen and high stamina.

If Natsu uses his fire attacks in-character then that'll be resisted. From what I understand, he does.

I never argued absorption, but it can help to soften the blows of Natsu's attacks.

Generally, that's what Natsu does. Besides with the AP difference, KO is more likely than a random kill from one of his attacks.
