Original names vs translated names

When a character's translated name differs from their japanese name, which do we use?

Specifically, I'm talking about The Last Story game. Most of the characters have had their names changed between english and original japanese. For example:

Japanese V English

Elza <=> Zael

Kanan <=> Calista

Seiren <=> Syrenne

Quark <=> Dagra

Seeing as I'm about to make profiles for them, it's be good to get the names right.

Pretty sure we use English unless the english name is horribly bowdlerized (Ex. Digimon's English dub changing Daemon to Creepymon).

I mean, there is a pretty large difference between the names, if that's what you consider bowdlerizing

Bowdlerizing would be more like if we called Hiei and Kurama from YYH as Vincent and Dennis.
