All I will say is that Luffy was only actually "blitzed" by the FTL kick, which to remind y'all, FTL can be anywhere from just a slim marginal increase above LS, up to an endless number above Light Speed. Like for all we know, Kizaru could've went 1 million x's the speed of light and that wouldn't contradict the characters being only a few times FTL and being blitzed by the FTL kick. We just don't know how much faster he got through his acceleration, so using it as an argument against FTL OP isn't the most solid thing imo since he could've been only 1% faster, or a billion times faster, we just don't know.

Like if a character gets blitzed by LS that's one thing (cause that means they are below LS), but being blitzed or outsped by an FTL attack doesn't mean they aren't FTL themselves as the gap between the bottom of FTL and the top is literally infinite.

Heck going by the arrows kizaru amped himself 6 times or something like that and again luffy also more or less reacted so yes he should be FTL

Yup, not surprising though as some people are eager to take down FTL for OP.

I wouldn't be surprised if people off site are using this to basically argue OP is sub light speed since they likely don't realize the possibility of this being an FTL attack and not a LS attack.

Thats sad.

For what it's worth, this is my perspective:
1. Luffy and others FTL combat speed through dodging/blocking lasers (many showings)
2. Kizaru clearly has FTL combat speed (can hang with FTL characters)
3. Kizaru also has FTL travel speed (according to this chapter, previously only had LS travel speed)
4. One Piece elements are clearly not limited by their real-world counterparts. Light can't accelerate, Lava is not as hot as Akainu etc.

Now that the hype about kizaru beating snakeman has died down, let's see what actually happened in the chapter.
Luffy fought kizaru without using advanced conquerors haki at all and probably also without armament emission.
He also fought him at close range and did not take advantage of snakeman's acceleration which gets stronger and faster the more time he spends accelerating it. All that and he was still keeping up with kizaru's LS lazers at close range.
He also was never blitzed. He reacts to kizaru beaming away from him and also reacts to him approaching.
Kizaru needs to get a huge run up and to accelerate his attack to actually overpower luffy. But this attack didn't do as much damage as you think. Before the translations were released, we assumed all the damage on g5 luffy in the double page was from kizaru, however, luffy elaborates on that and states that he had to cross the barrier of the labostratum twice. Once when he was kicked out, and another to get back in, and he mentions that that is what hurt him, even more than kizaru's kick.
All those burns are no where near enough damage to bother luffy who was tanking boro breaths which turned him into charcoal and coming out of it okay.

Better translations are out and it says "speed is power", not acceleration.

Luffy also does straight up miss a point-blank Snakeman punch that was inches from Kizaru's face.

So even if you do believe that Kizaru could be FTL, this is an instance of Luffy being slower than Kizaru's normal light speed movement.

Personally based off the better translations, I don't see Kizaru accelerating to FTL and Snakeman was slower than light speed Kizaru so it's not far fetched that Kizaru rushing him at light speed would blitz Snakeman.

Kizaru dodged the punch with FTL combat speed, then flew away with LS travel speed to put distance between himself and Luffy
Kizaru moves at light speed, he wouldn't have FTL combat speed.

Regardless, by your own volition this means that Snakeman Luffy's own combat and perception speed were to slow to keep up with that light speed travel speed from Kizaru.

If you look again you'll see that Luffy's punch completely missed and didn't change trajectory to follow Kizaru which means that Kizaru's light speed was faster than Luffy's combat and reaction.

Luffy never got blitzed. Copium is hard just to downgrade the verse when we have seen Pacifistas using Kizarus lasers and characters dodging them casually
Seems like you didn't see when Kizaru straight up blitzed Luffy while saying speed is power.

You know the copium is hard when people are genuinely trying to say that the guy made of light who explicitly moves at light speed is faster than light just to save their profiles.

Never blitzed him. Luffy reacted

Its crazy how u deadass ignore the fact that Devil Fruits get stronger than their normal elements.

If u have a problem with FTL One Piece make a CRT

Sorry wankers, FTLtober is over.

Anyway, I'd argue this is invalid since Luffy was half-blind.

This is valid—no amount of cope can really change that, unless something is revealed later. But it's also stupid, and doesn't make sense with Luffy seeing him from basically the same distance.

Maybe Luffy isn't FTL (I could even get behind that), but there's no way he wouldn't be able to at least see Kizaru. Let's discount the Pacifista for a moment; he'd still have to be leagues upon leagues slower than 12 packs-a-day Whitebeard, old Rayleigh and pre-TS human X Drake while using ******* Snakeman when even his base form is somewhat relative to Hybrid Kaido.

If Kizaru can kick at SOL as shown multiple times before, I find it weird that he needs to travel far away from Luffy to charge at him with a light-speed attack. This would make Luffy react easier due to distance unless Kizaru actually speeds up beyond SOL and kicks him.
