My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Iron Maidens are the deceives used to restrain Muscular and AFO, I think some Nomu were put in one as well.

Y i k e s... I knew these folks were dangerous but I never thought they'd use early 1500s torture devices to transport these guys .

They're called that cause they look like Iron Maidens. If they were actually the devices, they would kill anyone that went in them. They probably just suppress their muscles or quirks in some way.

All Might can provide money, moral support, life advice and comfort. Not to mention he probably has a lot of contacts that might help shorten their search, as well as his own experience with being a Hero.

As a fighter, there’s not much he can do.

As a mentor, there’s still a lot he can do for Deku, though he is beginning to run low on things left to teach him. Which isn’t doing wonders for his survival chances.

We'll see how the story go. At this point there really isn't any reason for All Might to die anymore, at the very least not any time soon.
There's still some unresolved stuff like All Might meeting Stain that has yet to be addressed.

This chapter makes it seem as if the manga is near the end. I honestly don't know how long it has left. Maybe 2 more arcs? Will they even get to year 3?

Unless Hori introduces new villains and plotlines in this arc, I pretty much see this manga ending by 2023.

I guess the next few chapters should tell us the general direction the story is going. If it focuses on the League again, then it's pretty much guaranteed to be near the end.

For me it feels like the manga can end in about 50-70 chapters or mid to late 2022
But you never know
Hori might introduce new stuff

Yeah, it depends on whether new stuff is introduced or not cause I don't see Horikoshi introducing new EOS villains apart from Shiggy and AFO at this point. So if the current arc goes straight to them then there won't be much of the story left.

A lot of the major plot points are almost wrapped up.

Anyone notice that the wording for Deku wrapping his arm in Blackwhip sounds like he actually had Blackwhip inside his arms to keep them protected?

I mean he did say "to wrap and reinforce your limbs from the inside out to keep them from shattering." Blackwhip does stem from the inside of his arms I guess.

Yeah, it's more like the energy exploding inside Deku's arms.

And I honestly think this shows that none of Deku's 100% smashes have been full powered since there is so much energy loss.

That looks fine to me. I’m surprised Katsuki didn’t already have a Full Cowl image.

Why does Deku scale to something which is 9-B+ via this calculation? He only tore apart another robot due to using his own momentum to damage the robot. There are surely more valid means to get 9-B+ other than this.

The statement about Deku using the robot's momentum doesn't exist in the manga, and the robot was undamaged by its 9-B+ feat, so using its own momentum against it would have done nothing, as the robots don't have enough power to destroy themselves.

You don't need a statement. It's obvious he swung the piece of metal at the robot instead of hitting it. It should be noted that instead of actually smashing it to smithereens, he actually just cut its arm in half. Which is far more effective than simply smashing the shield into it.

No matter how you slice, this isn't a valid way to scale Deku to 9-B+.

The robot didn't suffered a single scratch by ramming through a wall, Deku cutting it in half is actually a 9-A feat, which was downscaled to 9-B+ because he was using a shield.

Deku would also have to withstand the robot's kinetic energy while swinging the metal plate towards it.

This is not really the place to be discussing this though, I think the students revision thread is still open.

That doesn't disprove what I said. He cut its arm in half, and keep in mind the arm already had a small surface area, along with the shield he used. Wouldn't be hard to imagine a Wall-level character being able to do that.

Deku not only cut off the robot's arm, but also its neck, which was shown to be really thick.

The shield itself is almost 10 centimeters thick, compare that to swords, which have a thickness of around just 2 millimeters at the edge.

So there is no way I would believe the shield is sharp enough to ignore some of the robot's durability.

The leaks has completely denied the existence of Bak-u-go theories.
I'm a bit iffy on the current premise where Deku not only has a team of the top heroes of Japan but has an entire squad giving him advice and assisting him with the use of the quirks at almost all times. But we'll see.

OH THANK GOD THE THEORY IS DEAD HOLY HELL. Anyone that thinks that the 2nd is Katsuki himself and not just his ancestor is delusional. That’s definitely not Kirishima with the hair and eyes. Integrity of the story has been preserved.

Besides that, the mutant quirk lady this chapter was incredibly cute, so it’s sad that she’s facing blatant racism by civilians just looking to fight villains cause they can now.

Learned the 1sts name, Yoichi Shigaraki. All that’s left is the rest of En’s name and the other 2.

Deku was in fact training while he was in the vestige dream the entire time he was asleep, which shows why he can operate his quirks in sync so good.

3rd has some kind of eye quirk given the thing around his forehead and his eyes looking weird. FUN FACT, in the anime, THEY SHOW the group that 2nd and 3rd were a part of that got destroyed by AFO, and 3rd appears to be front and center for it.

So they disagree with attempting to save a villain like Shigaraki, but have come to believe in 1st that Deku can make it work/OFA’s purpose has truly changed. I like that dichotomy and that it furthers the amount of people that want Shigaraki dead. I feel Deku saving Shiggy through killing him might be the way we’re heading, as per Gran Torino.

In conclusion, very good chapter. 10/10 just for confirming that isn’t Bakugo. I want to see these quirks and how Deku uses them with the others he has. [\Spoiler]

Honestly I'm feeling more and more that the story is near the end.
I give it till chapter 400 before this final act ends.

Idk if the story of Deku himself will end though. Horikoshi could continue past the OFA/AFO storyline with a sequel like Shippuden, or he could end it all and do something else.

Not even worth paying attention too. The OP itself is barely comprehensible and nothing more than flinging wanked assumptions at random feats.
This seem to be coming from the same user who tried to push for light speed Ashido so the LQ thread was to be expected.
There was an ftl Ashido thread
Yikes
