My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Dabi is so weird cause he goes from not impressive at all to the strongest Fire user in the verse while barely doing any training. His flames do operate off of emotion so maybe he just really didn’t care enough for any of his fights prior to the Endeavor stuff. Idk.

You think he’ll die in the end or what.

it’s not like they can forgive him or anything.

Yes he’s gonna die. He’s literally just hatred incarnate, and Shoto already failed to get through to him. 0 reason he survives this given he’s already a walking corpse
Even if they don’t kill him he’s gonna die anyway since his body I guess is decaying or something king (considering his powers literally caused him to sew up his own skin)

Heroes Rising takes place a bit after he fought Geten. Which means him attacking Machia happened a bit over a month and half ago.
I see, I keep getting confused about the Villain Arc being drawn after the Joint Training Exercise.

I couldn't find the raws of chapter 228 where it's stated he got stronger, so I will leave that for now.
Admittedly, this 8-A calc could benefit from a minor revision, as I used the windows for measure instead of the tree crowns in the background, which I now know how big they are.
Meh, the end result was barely any higher.

This means even my old calcs are that polished.

Been meaning to ask, what all does Volume W say that could be interesting? You said you had it yeah?
I do, are you looking for anything in particular? I can't think of anything that stood out to me, but I got it in my hands.

Not really in particular. I guess stuff on Rody’s Quirk if that is explained more at all. And anything in those “lasers” Flect has + his Arachne equipment.

Idk what all else would be in there

The WHM laser/weapons are not mentioned in the book at all. Probably because they aren't even Flect's personal weapons, just weapons that are inside of the base. Flect's Arachne equipment is referred to as a "reflection-control exoskeleton". It uses an energy like film of oil that reverses reflections. That's how he can wear clothes I believe. The reversing reflection thing is also how he floats through the air. Nothing really new that I can see.

Rody's Quirk is explained like in the movie, with the name being Soul. He manifest a bird that always expresses whatever he's feeling, his Quirk is constantly active.

So it’s not powered by his Quirk, it in fact counters his Quirk. So those mirrors are just that, mirrors. Hm.

Let’s scale Iida to Low 7-B as Bakugou admits his body is more “built for speed” than Bakugou’s is, implying he is more durable

They aren't called mirrors to my knowledge. And we see them shoot out the reflected energy from Izuku's attack in the movie. Flect uses that energy to propel his fist to increase his striking power. Also he has the same "mirror" like thing on his feet (Just smaller) and it's stated they make him float by reversing impact.

They control reflection. Enabling him to wear clothes, walk, and even see. The blue glowing stuff in his equipment is apparently the energy like film of oil that powers it.

Does anyone know how tall the Heroes Rising island is? Working on a calc rn that could massively upgrade the cloud calc

There's a mountain in the center, but using the minimum mountain height will likely give lower results (609 meters tall).

I also don't really see the point of yet again updating the island size without any concrete scaling, it works perfectly fine as it is right now.

Those mirrors are supernatural in nature as they can also revert Deku's physical attacks.
When does he ever punch a mirror? He always only hits Flect from my recollection. And they’re not supernatural, they’re technological. They’re just based around directing his reflection Quirk. Which can reflect light, as he has special support gear to specifically make it not reflect light from his eyes.

Not updating the island size, but I found a method that massively increases the width of the cloud

Flect takes the energy of Izuku's attack and we see that force come out of the mirrors.

An energy like film of oil that reverses reflection isn't something I'd call real science.

As explained, these "mirrors" reverse impacts to make him float. The film of oil is what reverse reflections and they can clearly "reflect" whatever Flect wants them to.

Further adding what Rusty said, when Deku was overpowering Flect, those mirrors started to shine and allowed Flect to turn the struggle in his favor.
How does any of this mean that they don’t have a reflecting property to them? Wouldn’t this further mean they can direct light? If they can bounce back anything, and operate according to a Quirk that reflects light, why does any other property of them matter?

Know what? I’m just not gonna. Y’all don’t want it to be so it won’t, fine. I guess magical mirrors are in MHA

They do have reflecting properties, they reverse and control reflection. They can reflect everything, from impacts to light. They reverse the reflection of the light so it can actually enter Flect's eyes. They can reflect the impact Flect makes by touching the floor so he can actually stand and walk. And reverse again to make him float.

The reason it matters is because they can reflect anything, not just light. Meaning they don't reflect only light. Which means reflecting an energy beam, even if it was called a laser (Never called one), wouldn't be proof of that energy beam actually being light. Also what controls reflection is the energy like film of oil.

Unless you're talking about something else and I've completely missed your intention? I also don't get why you have to insist they're mirrors. They aren't even called mirrors.

You are missing the point, we are trying to tell you that they are not normal mirrors and that they can reflect many different things, and because of that, the lasers being reflected is neither a proof in favor or against them being light speed.

Great chapter, kinda a bit unclear what happened with Kurogiri, Aizawa, and Present Mic

Like I don't exactly know what it was that happened specifically

Aizawa and Present Mic were tackled off their flying platform by Toga/Twice clones and were going to fall to their death. Shirogiri, still trying to figure out who he is, saw them falling and warped underneath them and took them to some unknown location before they could hit the ground.

Don't know what'll happened there.

He take them to the furry room

This'll probably lead to Shirakumo coming back for real.

I don't believe Shirakumo is coming back forever. I feel like by the end of this he'll fully pass on. Technically he's already dead, a Nomu is a reanimated corpse and that is what he is now. I doubt he's going to become Shirakumo and live his life again as if he never died and isn't a Nomu. I don't feel it going in that direction yet.

He'll do something for the Heroes, though I can't imagine what exactly Shirogiri's Warp Gate can do? Who can he teleport around to help? It looks like Shoto isn't at the Gunga battlefield, so he could use a warp if he still back at Kamino. The stranded people on Octo Island such as Gang Orca as well?

Can we give Shigaraki the same spacial Warp quirk or are we assuming AFO yoinked it from a random Nomu/villain?

We've stated this before, but we aren't automatically giving Shigaraki any new Quirks AFO shows after breaking out of Tartarus. Shiggy needs to show them himself or we get a statement that says Shiggy has all of AFO's Quirk or something. I'm sure if that is the case, it'll be made very clear in the battle.

For now, no Shiggy doesn't have it. Though feel like he does have it and we could even see him use it.

Then what about the mind control quirk he used on one of the Tartarus warden and the lie detection quirk that he's had since forever?

Mind Control is iffy, but since he just left Tartarus I don't mind the idea.

AFO stated he's had the lie detection Quirk since before Kamino, he's had it since his Prime. So yes Shigaraki does indeed get that.
