Alright, so for anyone reading this, I implore you to please read the whole way through. I know the idea of this thread alone will raise skepticism so I've detailed a lot as to avoid questions that would logically come up with this verse's potential creation. Stuff like a proper narrative, scaling, feats, character profile justifications, I will be touching on all of them. I'd really like to avoid repeating myself in the replies section. If its too long and you don't wanna read, I really can't blame you

In the past, the creation of a verse page for Marvel vs. Capcom on the wiki has been rejected. This is due to a supposed lack of a story narrative and questions regarding non-original character scaling. On a surface level, these reasons look to be true, but after digging much deeper than I probably should have, I have to disagree with previous rejections. This is gonna be a long ass thread

Lets get into it

To start off, I want to omit the possible counter-argument that X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes might not be part of the MvC timeline. There's pretty clear debunks to this:
-The game Marvel vs. Capcom Origins was a collection that rereleased old MvC games. Marvel Super Heroes was included
-X-Men: Children of the Atom was not included on the collection due to licensing issues (given how the X-Men rights worked in 2012)
-Deadpool references Marvel Super Heroes in UMvC3

The fact that XMCotA was even considered is proof enough that this game is apart of the timeline. Its not as though titles such as Street Fighter Alpha or Darkstalkers were considered for the collection. Additionally, the rights issues shouldn't be used as a reason to say its "retconned" from the timeline. This was simply a matter of the inability to rerelease a game. I personally don't think a lot of people would have a problem with these two non-Capcom character games are canon to MvC, but I decided to bring it up just in case

X-Men: Children of the Atom
Official plot description

Magneto plans to destroy the human race so that Mutantkind may live peacefully on Earth. To do this, he plots to use his own powers in combination with his Acolytes to disrupt the planet's magnetic fields. Intended results would be corrupted computer systems, the total shutdown of all power systems, and the end of national communication networks. All the while, Magneto and his followers execute their plan from the space station known as the Avalon, awaiting the extinction of the human race

Charles Xavier and the X-Men, being heroes that fight for peaceful co-existence that take on malicious threats, must stop Magneto before this devastating future can come to fruition. To make matters worse, Sentinels are also present to give both sides of conflict trouble

The X-Men ultimately come out victorious, escaping the Avalon as it explodes. Magneto remains on the space station as its destroyed, but survives, as seen in later titles

Marvel Super Heroes
Official plot description

To prove his might, the Mad Titan Thanos has attained the "greatest power in the universe" (referring to the Infinity Gems), wiping out half of the population. This statement lines up with his pre-battle quote. which occurs regardless of the character that fights him. Captain America leads the Avengers, any remaining X-Men, and Spider-Man as a strike force against their common enemy. Even Magneto joins the group, recognizing Thanos is equally a threat to Mutants as he is to humanity. Juggernaut joins as well while any attempts to reach out to Doctor Doom for help have yielded empty results. Revealed on the Japanese promotional MvC2 website, Thanos presumably dies during his encounter with Earth's heroes, as he has no other encounters between this game and MvC2 to credit this event towards. If Thanos was only left unconscious, many endings wouldn't make sense, as some of the heroes abandon the gems after defeating the Mad Titan and freeing the other heroes such as Thor. Basically, it wouldn't make sense to leave the gems behind if Thanos would knowingly wake up and use them. This is important, since Hulk outright refuses to kill Thanos in his ending, meaning Hulk's Ending is non-canon. This would mean that the following characters likely hold the canon endings:

Spider-Man
Iron Man
Psylocke
Wolverine

Other endings can't be canon either due to not lining up with MvC2 Thanos' bio or detailing events that wouldn't allow future games to occur. Captain America's can't be canon either, as he discards all of the Gems to a place in which they can't be reached again. While Magneto's ending is non-canon, it does call back to the Avalon, remaining consistent with the lore

The heroes in petrified states must have been canonically freed as shown in any of the hero endings, given Thor is among them. As we know, Thor appears later in the series and is especially relevant to MvCI.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Official plot description

Mutants and Street Fighters are beginning to mysteriously disappear. Some sources blame Shadowloo, lead by M. Bison. Others point fingers at Magneto, who believe he committing these acts to achieve his goal of eliminating non-mutants. Mutants and Street Fighters alike must team up to uncover the truth. Even with a shared goal, differing viewpoints have lead to fights breaking out between both groups. Fortunately, cooperation is ultimately achieved and the threat of Apocalypse is put to an end. In Cyclops' ending, his time with the Street Fighters has allowed him to see the need for peaceful coexistence with humankind. Cyclops and Ryu form a good friendship, which will be important later

Akuma's ending has him and Wolverine facing off. Logan believes Akuma has information about who he is and can only attain it if he defeats him. The victor is likely a draw and this should be canon, as we'll see in the next game

Shuma-Gorath also appears in Storm's ending, for no particular reason aside from acting as another connection to Marvel Super Heroes

Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Official plot description

Apocalypse "once again" back to enact his evil schemes, calling back to his previous appearance when taking on the X-Men and Street Fighters. With the evil mutant desires to take over humanity with his powers, its up to the Marvel Super Heroes and Street Fighters to stop him once after for all. Apocalypse at some point grants cybernetic enhancements to Akuma, creating Cyber-Akuma. Some time after this game, Akuma lost his cybernetic enhancements. These enhancements were canonical, as a victory line from Akuma against Wolverine in UMvC3 reveals he learned that Apocalypse deemed Logan worthy of being his horseman of death. After taking on Apocalypse, Ryu teams up with Cyclops again, stating it was good to fight alongside him again, a direct reference their team-up in X-Men vs. Street Fighter. This cements Cyclops' ending from the previous game as canon

In Wolverine's ending, Cyber-Akuma is following him. Logan claims that Akuma knows who he is. Akuma denies him of the desired intel, yet says he'll hide no longer. Wolverine says that next time, they'll "finish this", implying their previous battle had no conclusive victor

Dan has a gag ending where he defeats Cyber-Akuma, about to kill him, before his sister runs in to stop him with the implication that Cyber-Akuma is his dad. For those of you who don't know, Dan was created by Capcom as a parody of Art of Fighting's Ryo, and this ending is parodying a similar ending. Its definitely not canon to the MvC lore

Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
Official plot description

Marvel's Earth finds itself under attack by a mysterious force named Onslaught. With humanity itself at risk of being wiped out, heroes from Marvel's Earth as well as Capcom's Earth arrive, ready to take on this new threat.

In Captain America's ending, it is explained that Charles Xavier's conscience called out for heroes outside of the Marvel Universe to help defeat Onslaught, causing the Capcom characters to be summoned to the aforementioned universe. After Onslaught's demise, the Capcom characters are sent home. This is very important to note, as in this game and the others that follow, the Capcom characters are established as coming from one universe. Essentially, the Capcom Universe in MvC is a composite franchise universe. If you're asking how that can even work given X and Zero can be around not too long after we've seen Classic Mega Man, UMvC3 just as Tron and Zero in the same game. The idea of the original canon for the Capcom games can't be relied on here because that's just not how MvC operates

Because it explains how the Capcom characters were sent back, Captain America's ending should be canon. Other endings imply the fight against Onslaught could have gone a few ways. The endings that are definitely non-canon are Hulk's and Jin's endings (and another I'll get to soon), as they involve Captain America or Jin sacrificing themselves to stop Onslaught. Meanwhile, Morrigan and Lilith have gag endings, so do what you will with that bit of information

In this game, Nash returns in the form of Shadow to save Chun-Li from becoming roboticized. Nash's new form is the result of M. Bison's experimentation. In X-Men vs. Street Fighter, this fate was foreshadowed in Nash's ending. In Shadow Lady's ending (which takes the form of a non-canon scenario in which Bison successfully roboticized Chun-Li), Shadow appears again

Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes
Official plot description

A being with a mythical status known as Abyss is causing environmental harm to Earth. Ruby Heart calls upon several Marvel and Capcom characters in order to take on the threat. At some point prior to the events of this game, Death resurrects Thanos. The benefit of this game is that due to its lack of character endings, there is a single, definitively canon ending to go off of. The battle with Abyss is implied to have been a team effort, larger than the three person groups players select.

After the defeat of Abyss, Ruby is left with only the being's core. No longer rendered a threat, Ruby tosses the core off her ship. Ryu and Cyclops are once again seen having a friendly meet up, backing up the ties to previous titles

Those who contributed in the defeat of Abyss sail off on the Partenaire into the sunset, presumably returning home after saving the Earth once again

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Aside from the endings and threat of Galactus destroying the Earths of the Marvel and Capcom universes, the greater backstory to this game is found in its comic. Albert Wesker contacts Doctor Doom, Magneto, MODOK, Super Skrull, and Taskmaster. Wesker proposes they combine their forces to conquer both worlds. However, lacking a source to consistently fuel the connection between both universes via portals, Super Skrull suggests siphoning energy from Galactus. During this process, residents from both universes cross in and out of each other, leading to the assumption of invasion from both parties. This backfires as Galactus sets his sights on consuming the Earths of both universes. Galactus is defeated through a group effort as shown or implied through endings, though in some cases, specific characters are significantly responsible for sealing the victory against the planet eater in their respective endings. Characters with endings that act as examples of this are Ryu, Spider-Man, X-23, Captain America, Iron Man (albeit barely), Shuma-Gorath, Viewitful Joe, Storm, Super Skrull, and Hsien-Ko

Other endings show us that after the defeat of Galactus, characters collaborate or engage in activities in the universe alternate to them. At some point, the connection between worlds had to have been cut off. In Infinite, the universes are in normal states before being merged and the method used to connect these universes in UMvC3 would've had to die out after some time. Thor's ending has him asking Heimdall to watch Capcom's Earth (Classic Mega Man is even present in this ending, who previously appeared in MvC and MvC2). Zero's ending has Silver Surfer personally try taking him back to his own universe

One of Deadpool's fourth wall breaking moments accuses Wesker of "stealing" Spider-Man's Maximum Spider Hyper Combo, stating that Peter had that as far back as Marvel Super Heroes. Despite the comedic nature, this is another sign of the timeline's connections

Between MvC2 and UMvC3, Jill was at some point controlled and physically enhanced like in RE5. However, as shown in the comic and her ending, she's free of Wesker's control and is working with Chris once again

The following characters have endings that cannot be considered canon due to contradicting Infinite:
Wesker
Akuma
Nemesis
Hawkeye
Iron Fist
Phoenix
Sentinel
Galactus

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
This game is the most straight forward because it has a dedicated story mode. I seriously doubt I need to explain much here because there's videos on YouTube covering the entire story. In fact, I'll just link the story mode. All one needs to know is that Marvel and Capcom's universes crossover after being merged into one by Ultron-Sigma. However, I'll go into some smaller details

The comic, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite: Infinite Horizons explains how Black Panther and the Monster Hunter met, making their connection in the story mode less confusing. Additionally, we see how Ryu and Hulk landed in Valkanda

This game is once again consistent with the idea that all Capcom characters share a universe

EDIT: To anyone doubting Infinite it still in the same timeline, character tutorials for the game posted by the official Marvel vs. Capcom YouTube channel reference previous series entries:
-"Eddie Brock returns to Marvel vs. Capcom, with his superhuman strength and signature shapeshifting style"
-"Dr. Wily's greatest creation equips both Z-Buster and Z-Saber, as he returns to the Marvel vs. Capcom battlefield"
-"Captain America returns to the Marvel vs. Capcom series"
-"The original World Warrior returns to the Marvel vs. Capcom series"
-"The most high-tech ninja in the business returns to the stage"
-"The Scottish Succubus from the Darkstalkers series returns with some new tricks in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite"
-"Dormammu the Dread One, returns to the Marvel vs. Capcom series"
-"The Bionic Commando returns to Marvel vs. Capcom"
-"The Son of Odin returns to Marvel vs. Capcom"

So yes, these are all the same characters from the previous titles. Not a different continuity

So would these pages hold any actual differences from their canonical counterparts? Yes, actually. Here's some examples:
-Wolverine has the ability to release energy from his chest in an x shape as an attack
-Most characters in Marvel Super Heroes can utilize the Infinity Gems in battle, with abilities unique to certain characters being granted depending on the gem used (ex. Using the Power Gem, Spider-Man creates a mimic that operates similar to Morrigan's Astral Vision)
-War Machine and Iron Man can use a weapon called the Proton Cannon
-Mega Man can take on a larger form to utilize greater firepower known as Hyper Mega Man
-Mega Man attains the Magnetic Shockwave in his ending, which can even be used as a Hyper Combo in the PS1 version of MvC after getting the aforementioned ending
-Ryu has the ability to take on states that allow him to utilize the moves and abilities of Ken Masters and Akuma (no, I don't mean Evil Ryu. He specifically goes "Akuma Mode")
-Ryu created new special moves simply through extensive training
-Dan has a move known as the Otoko Michi, which involves him grabbing his opponents and causing an explosion
-Sakura has access to a form known as Dark Sakura, which makes her more powerful and grants her new attacks
-Jill Valentine can charge into opponents while imbued with a fire
-All UMvC3 characters have access to X-Factor, with voice lines acknowledging this is a genuine ability and not simply a game mechanic
-All UMvC3 characters, regardless of equipment or physiology, can breathe in space
-One of Ryu's victory lines confirms Deadpool genuinely replicated the Shoryuken
-Galactus can create Heralds that act as duplicates of Marvel and Capcom antagonists
-MvCI brings back the idea of Infinity Gems in gameplay, which all of the cast can use
-Ryu knows how to fly technologically advanced aircraft
-Morrigan has one of the goofiest instances of Resistance to Fire Manipulation
-Thanos removes the Satsui no Hado from Ryu and uses it for himself
-Mega Man X attains the Infinity Buster

That's not even all of them. The important point here is that Capcom's liberties with movesets clearly shows that profiles wouldn't simply be copies of canon pages with new ratings slapped on them

I'll admit that scaling in this verse is likely going to be linear, as it doesn't have the "hierarchy" of power that other fighting games do. That said, examples of scaling do exist, and this isn't taking into consideration win quotes. I'd also like to note that even if an ending is non-canonical, the implication that a character can defeat another (such as Akuma defeating Galactus and other heroes) will be taken into account, similar to how an alternate ending in Street Fighter was still relevant to Evil Ryu's power

While I think its fair for victory screen quotes or intro quotes to be used as indicators of skill or abilities (ex. Iron Man claims his armour can read Captain America's attacks before they happen, literally taking from Civil War. While this interact does not originate from a canonical matchup or ending, the statement itself has no reason to not apply to the abilities of Iron Man's suit, as its a detail about his armour and not what the outcome of this fight could be), I didn't include win quotes themselves as those technically can't qualify if they're in reference to one's win over another (ex. Vergil insulting Ghost Rider's hellfire if he beats Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider implying he sent Vergil to hell if he beats Vergil. These don't originate from canonical matchups or endings, only existing as fun interactions for players to find when playing the VS Mode). I do think exceptions can be made for specific quotes (ex. Trish views Dante and Vergil as fairly equal combatants)

Anyhow, here's some examples:

-Thanos is described as an alien with sheer power that dwarfs Galactus
-Reed Richards claims the Infinity Gems are the greatest power in the Marvel Universe
-Blackheart claims that anyone who holds the Gems rules the Marvel Universe, and was only confident in resisting Mephisto in the event that he attained them
-In XMvsSF, Magneto and M. Bison fight each other. They are capable of defeating the other, as one of them comes out as victorious in their respective endings. However, it could be argued that Bison is slightly stronger as a description in his ending reads "It was a desperate battle...But Bison's Psycho Power eventually overwhelmed even Magneto"
-Sabretooth was capable of defeating Ryu, Chun-Li, and Nash. He sees Wolverine as the final opponent to overcome
-In XMvsSF, Akuma's ending has him fighting Wolverine. While the outcome is said to be a draw, as hinted when they meet again, and it is stated that both fighters will enjoy the battle
-In XMvsSF, Cyclops claims that Ryu is a great fighter. In MSHvSF, Ryu's ending reveals that he holds the likes of Spider-Man and Cyclops as rivals among Cyber-Akuma
-In MSHvsSF, an alternate ending shows us that Omega Red is capable of killing Ryu and Ken
-Onslaught is toted as the most powerful enemy in history, which should make him stronger than Apocalypse and Thanos
-In MvC, Morrigan knocks out Zangief for a brief period when attempting to switch back bodies with Lilith
-Due to his dark emotions playing a part in the creation of Onslaught, Charles Xavier claims he almost destroyed the world
-Hulk could stomp Nemesis
-Chris Redfield is portrayed as weaker than characters who would understandably be leagues above him
-An opponent that him and Jill were corned by and couldn't as much as harm with the amount of bullets they had left was one-shotted by Hulk, consistent with Banner's encounter with Nemesis
-Ultron-Sigma took no damage from Chris' firearms. Ultron's drones, which are much weaker than, Ultron himself can be harmed by Chris' bullets
-More examples will be listed in the Infinite Fights section
-Hulk is one of the most powerful beings on Marvel's Earth
-Doctor Strange is the greatest hero on Marvel's Earth
-Wolverine references that him and Hulk's offscreen fights have ended in draws
-Super Skrull calls Ryu the pinnacle of human perfection
-An announcer says that to the audience that Ryu's been seen defeating cosmic entities that can destroy planets, referring to Galactus (although defeating Galactus is not a feat unique to Ryu's ending, the fact that this is addressed is still important)
-Akuma is capable of defeating Iron Man, Ryu, Captain America, Wolverine, and Chun-Li at the same time
-Mephisto believes Dante is capable of killing Blackheart, who is powerful enough to solely defeat Ryu, Spider-Man, Zangief, Captain America, and Chun-Li at the same time. In this same scene, Dante threatens to kill Mephisto as well
-Vergil is implied to have defeated Wolverine before attaining the Muramasa (the damage to the area the two are in supports this)
-Among the resistance, Dante is considered the greatest weapon against nefarious otherworldly threats
-Four Infinity Gems aren't enough to defeat Ultron-Sigma according to Dante after having experienced the Soul Gem's power

Again, these aren't even all of them. I'll touch on some Infinite Story Mode fights now

Infinite Fights:
-Hawkeye and Arthur fight Thor (Mind Controlled) with ineffective results
-Ryu and Hulk fight, with the former attempting to have Banner control his rage. Ryu keeps up, but Hulk is shown to still be superior, as Ryu could not damage Dah'ren Mohran, who Hulk could harm. Ryu has to use stronger techniques to deal significant damage
-Chris Redfield and Frank West fight Haggar. They manage to knock him down briefly, but Haggar overpowers them. Spider-Man's intervention is required to calm him down
-Haggar defeats Nemesis
-Spider-Man blitzes MODOK
-Ghost Rider and Morrigan fight
-Doctor Strange and Arthur fight Dormammu and Firebrand, causing them to retreat
-X and Rocket defeat Zero (Mind Controlled)
-Iron Man, Spencer, and Dr. Light use all of the energy in Avengers Tower (including the energy within a holding cell that was being used to previously weaken Thanos by replicating technological restraints that were performing that same task) to temporarily weaken Ultron-Sigma (Reality and Space Gems) gets defeated and pummelled by Base Thanos, with his blows doing enough damage to crack the Reality Gem. This is important to note as Ultron-Sigma (Reality Gem) defeated Thanos (Space Gem). Essentially, Base Thanos was only able to win in their second match due to a vast amount of energy dedicated to weakening Ultron-Sigma being used
-Haggar and Frank West fight Black Suit Spider-Man, having to rely on his weakness to sound to stop him
-Morrigan and Ghost Rider arrive alongside Spider-Man to fight Jedah Dohma. After the fight, Spider-Man relays to Iron Man that they could use help
-Jedah Dohma (Soul Gem) defeats Captain America and Ryu. Ryu begins succumbing to the Dark Hado as a result. Thanos steps in, casually blocking a Soul Gem beam attack from Jedah. Thanos defeats Jedah, forcing him to retreat
-Jedah Dohma (Soul Gem) defeats Dante with a single stab. Devil Trigger Dante soundly defeats Jedah
-Spider-Man and Morrigan defeat Thor (Mind Controlled)
-Captain America, Strider, Spider-Man, Morrigan, Nova, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Haggar, Chun-Li, X, and Chris Redfield aided by the Power and Mind Gems only managed to amuse Ultron-Sigma (Reality and Space Gems). Chun-Li stated that they couldn't hold out much longer
-Iron Man and Frank West take on Thanos. They believe they're successful at first before Thanos stomps them, as well as commenting on how he expected nothing less of the Gems. This comment tells us that since Iron Man was carrying the Time Gem during the fight, it had a significant impact on the battle. This is consistent with Frank's scared reaction to having to fight Thanos
-Thanos stomps Ryu and Gamora. Given how he steals the Satsui no Hado from Ryu shortly afterwards and gives Gamora the Time Gem, stating he has no use for it, its likely he didn't require the Gems power for this battle
-Ultron-Sigma transform into Ultron-Omega, a presumably stronger form. X uses the Infinity Buster, which harnesses the power of four Infinity Gems whilst using its technological capabilities to enhance them. Furthermore, X has to transform into his Ultimate Armour to handle its power all while every resistance member lended their power to him. The Infinity Buster fires and destroys Ultron-Omega
-Thanos plans to use the Satsui no Hado to kill Death herself

-All endings in X-Men: Children of the Atom have Magneto on the Avalon as it is explodes, which he would have survived as he appears in future titles
-Iceman ponders on whether or not Magneto survived
-A Sentinel unit says that it can only "presume" Magneto died
-Magneto references Avalon's destruction in Marvel Super Heroes
-Colossus can lift as much as 70 tons
-The Gamma Crush Hyper Combo has Hulk jump into space and pull down a meteoroid onto the opponent
-With the power of the Infinity Gems, Mangeto could create a Moon for Mutantkind to occupy
-When enhanced by the power of the Infinity Gems, Shuma-Gorath was capable of casually destroying planets
-With the Infinity Gems, Thanos was capable of "reshaping all of existence"
-Hulk has "mountain-crushing strength"
-Mech Zangief creates a powerful explosion that can be seen from space
-Wesker is stated to be capable of dodging bullets
-Magneto is capable of producing barriers that can withstand nuclear blasts, as well as cause changes in the Earth's crust and ignite volcanos through geomagnetism
-Storm can create hurricanes
-Nova can fly at supersonic speeds (its also worth noting one of his Hyper Combos involves flying in different directions quickly whilst attacking an opponent, which would scale to combat speed and reactions)
-Iron Fist is capable of leveling mountains in a single punch (kinda funny since the announcer's asking if Ryu, who he just acknowledged defeated a planet buster, could defeat him)
-Galactus is blatantly a planet buster. The reason his boss fight exists is to prevent him from destroy Marvel's Earth and Capcom's Earth. His victory animation is him causing a scorched planet to violently explode the moment he crushes it between his hands. His "occupation" in the bios literally reads "Planet Destroyer". Super Skrull mentions in the comic and his ending that his home planet was destroyed by Galactus, which Nova references in piece of pre-battle dialogue
-Thanos has almost destroyed the Marvel Universe on several occasions prior to MvCI
-Ultron-Sigma merges the Marvel and Capcom universes with the Reality and Space Gems. However, this feat is more impressive than it appears to be on the surface. The Dark Dimension and Makai Kingdom were also fused as a result, forming the Dark Kingdom. By the end of MvCI, all Gems remain functional, but Thanos having cracked the Reality Gem meant the merging of Marvel and Capcom's universes could not be undone

Not gonna mince my words, I can't calc any of the stuff here that's calculable like this. But most of these can speak to what kind of ratings we could see for the verse

The fight against Galactus is implied in a few endings to have been through the combined effort of multiple characters, but specific endings make it clear that cast members were capable of pitching in enough to where they're seen as the main victor (ex. Spider-Man, Phoenix, X-23, Akuma)

The fact that MvC has a huge list of characters, a decent chunk of which don't really need profiles is not lost on me. Because of that, I believe the following categories can be used in determining if a profile is earned or not:
1. The character has a significant enough plot relevance or presence
2. The character is playable or a boss
3. The character has abilities that do not simply mirror their canon counterparts

Examples of Marvel characters who would qualify:
-Spider-Man (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)
-Cyclops (Meets categories 1 and 2)
-Wolverine (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)
-Thanos (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)

Examples of Capcom characters who would qualify:
-Mega Man (Meets categories 2 and 3)
-Ryu (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)
-Dante (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)
-Mega Man X (Meets categories 1, 2, and 3)

Meeting at least two categories should be enough. In Classic Mega Man's case, while he doesn't have as many "big" story moments in early MvC like Cyclops did, he's playable and has a different enough set of abilities to work. It's fair that he can get a profile, while somebody like Servbot may not really need one. If this system I've set up seems a bit too restrictive, we can just simplify the justification for creation being "are they different enough discarding their rating?"

"The colouring of the Infinity Gems/Stones between Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite are inconsistent."
This is true, but that isn't exclusive to just the games. It's been a thing in the mainline comics too. It comes down to writers either not really caring to look back at the proper colour coordination, or simply forgetting entirely

"MvC Spider-Man died in the Spider-Verse comic event."
A few problems with this:
1. Raimi Peter and TASM Peter supposedly showed up in that event as well, but were retconned to be within the MCU Multiverse
2. MvCI retcons Spider-Man's death, assuming it was ever canon
3. In this same event, the cast from Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends were seemingly killed, but that got changed too. Instead, those were just different versions as well. This will be helpful to note regarding the last point
4. Despite what Dan Slott might insist on Twitter, his Word of God is pretty moot here. Slott had no involvement with the writing process of any MvC game. This includes UMvC3 and Infinite, both of which were written by Marvel writers. This isn't even mentioning Capcom plays a huge role in the earlier plotlines

Overall, MvC Spider-Man's "death" debunks nothing NGL the way Slott talks about him on Twitter has me convinced he really hates MvC Spider-Man

"How come Jill doesn't recognize Hulk in 3's comic if they were both in MvC2? Why doesn't Iron Man recognize Morrigan in that same comic if they were also both in MvC2?"
Because the only characters we know that canonically interacted during MvC2 are shown in the ending's art pieces, none of which shown the aforementioned characters interacting specifically with each other. Even in other fighting games revolving around tournaments where you'd think most characters would recognize each other, some don't even meet until the sequels. In the same way that this game involved several characters coming together to stop Abyss, we don't know exactly how they went about it regarding any team formats

"It generally doesn't make sense for a lot of these characters to be able to fight each other."
Which isn't a problem since this series is treated as its own continuity. Its not like Marvel and Capcom is trying to convince you that after Infinite, the universes merging are going to be seen as staples in the comics and games. At the end of the day, we can obviously point out that characters like Ryu shouldn't be able to keep up with Hulk or whatever, but we only ever see these instances of scaling as ridiculous because of how we judge the canonical franchises that are involved

To summarize what I said above: none of this is supposed to be canon to the source material, so poking holes with cross-scaling makes no sense

"How did Earth's Heroes manage to defeat/kill Thanos in Marvel Super Heroes if he had all of the Infinity Gems, while Ultron-Sigma who is powered by only two Infinity Gems was consistently overpowering several Marvel and Capcom characters?"
This is more of a scaling question and less of a "can this have a verse?" issue. So there's a few things to consider:
1. Ultron-Sigma using only one Infinity Gem was superior to Thanos wielding the same amount. Even four Infinity Gems weren't enough to stop him according to Dante, and Ultron-Sigma still only had two Gems at the time. Its likely that due to Ultron-Sigma's immense Base Form strength, he was far more of a menace with two Gems than Thanos ever was with the full set
2. Given the format of Marvel Super Heroes' battles, you are allowed to take Gems from opponents for you own benefit, which includes the Thanos boss fight
3. Canonically, it took a strike team composing of multiple heroes and villains to stop Thanos. Unless we're looking at Doom or Shuma-Gorath's endings, this was not the efforts of one fighter

EDIT: In relation to points 2 and 3, the manual suggests those who fought Thanos used the power of the Gems as well

"Why did it take until the first MvC to explain how Capcom characters could crossover in the first place?"
Not sure, but given there's clear connections between that game and those that came before it, as well as after it, there's not really much reason in using this as a disputing point

Conclusion
And that's pretty much it. This could've been longer if I wanted to sort out for you all how the hierarchy of powerscaling goes in this verse, but I really wouldn't want to spend time on that any further than I have without knowing if this verse is gonna get the green light or not

Here's a summary of my thread:
  • A narrative has always existed in MvC
  • Many characters display abilities differing from their canon selves
  • Scaling does exist
  • There are feats to go off of

Thoughts?

Agree: Dalesean027, Tonygameman, Reploidnoridomix, Excel616, Oliver_de_jesus, Lacku, TyranoDoom30, Sir_Ovens, MaidRips, Lynieryz, Scottycj256, Colonel_Krukov, Ayewale, Spinoirr, Aachintya31, Reiner, TheGreatMaster12, CRYING_POTATO_55, MrKerf, Maverick_Zero_X

Oh hell yeah, I'm so following this! Perhaps I should update my respect thread blog after so long (Mech-Zangief's feat was calculated inside, and @MaidRips has Wesker's profile there). Also, COTA (where Akuma made a secret boss appearance; like Anita in MSH) and SNES titles (Mutant Apocalypse & War of the Gems) are all in Arcade1UP's officially licensed machine.

Funny to think how from MSH to MvC2, Hulk was in his "Merged" self (since it was like that back in the 1990's) before reverting back to a Savage persona in MvC3 (for intelligence if he gets a page). Speaking of, I do have Zacmariozero's speed calc of Gamma Crush archived (which resulted in Massively Hypersonic).

EDIT: Wondering if The Punisher (a beat 'em up) applies there as well, since it's also in a same dimension and an another cabinet. He and Nick Fury wouldn't obviously scale to those characters in following fighting games, but separate-tiered profiles should be nice (same for Abyss).

Anyway, I'm saying my word regarding this proposal like others did: AGREED.

LIGHT PUNCH. MEDIUM PUNCH.
LIGHT KICK, HEAVY PUNCH! Tony Stark was able to build this infinite in a cave! With a box of scraps!

Boy, I still have that game installed on my PlayStation 3 after it was delisted (can be found on a download list if you managed to buy before that; didn't have time to get Origins in 2014 myself, however). It's online apparently still works.

Yeah. While the games I listed in my post have connections to each other, the Punisher game and War of the Gems aren't likely connected to the MvC universe

I might look at those someday, but for now, I'll focus on this verse

Given the amount of supporters (besides a discussion thread for future), here's a official tribute of the character who I'm looking forward to the most from Capcom themselves (with a best banger), the First Avenger himself (technically Namor as he's been around two years longer. Goddamnit, if only he was in this series too...). I'm even drafting out galleries/move-lists for him, a Canadian berserker and friendly neighborhood web-crawler on my sandbox.

EDIT: Also, the Invincible Golden Shellhead from a same channel, as well.
