There are specifically robots in-verse which are noted to have souls, like Emerl the Gizoid that developed one over Sonic Battle. Meanwhile it's been confirmed by Eggman that Metal Sonic is simply hard-coded for conquest, with Sonic even noting that Metal is a one-note jerk compared to robots/androids who have changed (Gemerl, Shadow).

All this to say that Metal is soulless even in a verse where robots can have souls.

... the match is old and outdated, the Metal Sonic key used has since been upgraded to a flat 4-A rating. I've requested the removal.
