God of War: Ragnarok Discussion Thread

I just realized that if time moves differently between realms, that means there is a possibility that Atreus could potentially spend enough time in a realm where time moves slower and he could theoretically age into an adult or young adult during the game and then return later to be playable or something. The same idea can be applied to other characters too. Or maybe in Vanaheim where time has stopped he could theoretically stay there for however long is needed to properly counter Odin and could age while no major time in game passes.

I gotta start thinking that each realm are functionally a time machine for another realms except they can't go backwards in time. A lot of things we believed took place years later in the god of war GOW norse lore could’ve potentially taken place in other realms as God of War Ragnarok or 2018 was occurring wherever time is slower or faster than normal.

I found a pretty good infinite speed feat in this novel
Atropos?

That'd be a feat for her Astral Projection I'd reckon, but still a good feat nonetheless. Either way, she scales to God of War Kratos who ****** around and found out with Zeus who can blitz Hermes who can blitz Helios's flashlight while weakened, Helios's light being Infinite in speed for illuminating the entire infinite-sized Underworld and so on and so forth, so...

Of course people might try their bullshit with it calling it "hyperbole" or whatever, but given that we have Hermes and Helios, I don't think it's out of the question anymore. Plus there are the Valkyries and their sort-of-Immeasurable feat but that requires a bit more discussion I'd reckon.

Do you guys feel that the Greek Gods got demonized in the original trilogy? Like i remember that Hermes in actual myth is very chill prankster god and got a massive W "slept" with Aprhrodite but in the game he's such of a jerk

I mean, it's already explained if you play GOW1, Kratos released the Evils to the Gods and it corrupted all of them. Which is why by GOW2 they're such pompous assholes.

There is also GOW Betrayal where Kratos kills Hermes' son Ceryx, and in GOW2 he turned into a complete crybaby who was temporarily banished from godhood because of Iris and because he relayed the news that Kratos came back from the dead and then Zeus got mad-pissed and banished him, he had to get hard proof to get his position back and kick Iris out, Atropos also notes why he and Iris never got together, they were too consumed by their own self-beauty and self-aggrandizement.

They were corrupted by the Evils from Pandora's Box for most of the time that we see them. When they were aiding Kratos against Ares, we could see that they weren't quite as bad as they appear to be later on (Aphrodite wasn't promiscuous and vapid, Hades was willing to put aside his dislike for Kratos, due to the latter killing his wife, to help him and so on). Not to say that they were completely virtuous but they weren't always like how they were when Kratos destroyed Olympus.

*Iris. Small typo I know but people might think that Hermes would've gotten together with the goddess of chaos for some reason.

Not saying that there's anything wrong with disliking said designs, After all I wasn't the biggest fan of Thor's look either before seeing the trailer at, but just don't be hateful about it.

And funny thing is, apparently Angroboda has no known physical description.
Even if she got a description, it really shouldn't matter. This is an adaptation of mythology that they take artistic liberty with and something as minor as skin tone shouldn't generate this sort of discourse at all, let alone the senseless drama over a character presented as gluttonous, petulant and a drunkard being fat at all.

Like, it's about as meaningful as getting angry at Nasuverse for genderbending or changing the skin tone and appearance of historical and mythical figures. Or being mad that Heimdall in the MCU is dark skinned etc.

Ryan Hurst said that it's because of Thor's constant inner battles that he struggles with due in part to killing his own kin, that he doesn't take pride in any of it at all.

Was there actual discourse about any of those? LOL

Neat. Hoping we get some more interactions with him in Ragnarok and don't like, murk him 5 minutes after booting up the game.

Nasuverse idk but I heard there was some very minor discourse on Heimdall. Granted he was introduced when "wOkE!" controversy wasn't as prevalent so that might've had something to do with it.

What resistance to spacetime manipulation does Kratos have? Thinking of doing a matchup between him and another character soon after some rework

He... doesn't? He only has Spatial Manipulation and Time Manipulation as abilities, not both at the same time either as an ability or as a resistance.

He only has resistance to Time Manip, Age Manip, Time Slow and Time Stop.

We should actually ask more knowledgeable members about this. Immeasurable speed, funny enough, would be kinda consistent in the Norse world. We know that all the realms exist in the physical space and are separated by spacetimes

The Valkyries fly across the realms with speed alone.

Kratos dodges their charge, and drop attacks

Kratos' Axe can also be recalled from another realm (Thor's hammer probably can as well but I won't back that 100%)

Baldur can dodge Kratos' axe when thrown.

This would also scale to the Olympians, as all their infinite speed feats are performed casually. The real question is does crossing spacetime warrant immeasurable speed, and I think we should ask around.

Exactly. As if GOW is 100% faithful anyway, they've made tons of changes to Greek Mythology.

Why bitch now?

He does indeed. GOW1 novel and 2018 novel both show it in action
What's the scan for GOW1 novel?

Kratos reflections. I can tell Thor is going to be among the series best antagonists

Here's the funny thing. One would be pressed to ask whether this is just Dimensional Travel with the Bifrost given that they pull out weapons out of other realms like with their elemental attacks. But...

The Bifrost is only ever shown opening portals when the energy is transferred into mediums, like crystal eyes that Mimir and Tyr have, or through the Realm Travel Room, and then there's the Mystic Gates.

Vakyrie wings are infused with Bifrost Energy so one could argue they do that, but here's the thing.

Mimir's words imply that the Valkyries judge out the dead without ever hinting at them using portals, but rather he makes words like "arrive" and the like.

Axe part could be gameplay mechanics or some other magic at play given that the realms cannot be traversed physically normally.

Apparently I have been told it does if you bypass the dimensional barriers through sheer speed.

At best I'd suggest waiting for any confirmation that the Valkyries do bypass the borders of the realms with sheer speed, but that's currently under contention due to the Tier 2 revisions, IDK.

Beats me why they're bitching about it now.

GOW1 Novel Chapter 16 and GOW2018 Novel Chapter 4

GOW1 Novel Chapter 16: "Kratos reacted instinctively when a harpy described a long, sweeping arc through the skies overhead. He drew the Blades of Chaos and set himself to fight—but the winged creature completed its curve toward the temple."

GOW2018 Novel Chapter 4: "Kratos had to shut down his brain—act purely on instinct. As he raced toward the house, the stranger slid awkwardly off the roof. Kratos rammed him full force when the stranger hit the ground."

As much as I'd want it, no it doesn't qualify. Immeasurable speed is for moving through time as though it was space with sheer personal speed. Kratos and the other gods would only get it if there was a feat of throwing a punch in -5 seconds or running to three weeks ago.

Apparently people tell me that if you can bypass the dimensional barrier it would count as per this reply by Qawsedf.

"If it's raw speed and not some weird cosmology thing it's Immeasurable since it requires moving of different spatial axis."

Yeah, that's wrong (or there's some context or revisions of Speed that happened recently I'm unaware of). Spatial axes are fundamentally just different directions of movement, which is why you don't get anything special whether you move up and down or left and right. You can move across a fifth spatial dimension with Subsonic speed in theory.

Immeasurable can be thought off as a step up from performing actions in 0 seconds, where you do things before you begin doing them.

Yeah we should probably just wait until Ragnarok seeing as we'll probably know more about them by then

Fair. interesting fact is that Kratos has a limit to how far he can call it, and can't call it back from the world tree. I

Yeah Good point

Gotta be something with folks these days.

But I've come to enjoy Thor's look now.
He looked real intimidating in the trailer.
And looks like he could lift the 9 realms themselves. The strongest dudes in the world are actually built like that. I appreciate it cuz not man can look like the Rock or Chris Hemsworth lol

Yeah I've got this scan
