Although I like Giyuu more, I felt as if Sanemi was stronger after the Upper Moon 1 fight.

Sanemi claps in all honesty vs upper moon 1 while it wasn’t like Sanemi was as strong he clearly held is own
Against Upper Moon 3 Giyuu had a hard time and Kokushibo>>>>>>>>Akaza

Sanemi also preformed better against a casual Muzan compared to Giyuu

Sanemi was fighting against Kokushibo along with the strongest Hashira and Muichiro and they were all at their limit, Giyu was somewhat equal to Akaza alone with Tanjiro

I wouldn’t say equal more so relative as it seemed like Akaza just decided to finish off Giyu when he broke his sword and Akaza easily adapted to Giyu’s speed boost.
There was also a point where Tanjiro Notes Akaza could’ve one shot him whom is comparable to Giyuu.

And while Sanemi has support from the strongest pillar and Muichiro came in clutch it’s not like he was some fodder that needed to be carried.
There were Several Points when Sanemi 1v1 Kokushibo.Lets not forget Sanemi managing to chip his neck.
