General DC Comics Discussion Thread

Thanks, I didn't realize that's what you were referring to.

What do we currently accept as canon to infinite frontier Superman, I understand he's a Superman with the continuity of pre crisis, post crisis and Rebirth Supermen but depowered or something? It's kind of confusing honestly

Edit: And another question, is Rebirth Superman Post-Crisis Superman with N52 Superman's memories or something? Why is this so effing confusing?

Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, New 52 and Rebirth. As well as everything going forward.

Rebirth Superman is technically Post-Crisis Superman, but merged with New 52 Superman.

Ok, thanks for the reply, I stopped reading DC near the end of post-crisis so I'm very out of date.

Going through Rebirth Supers profile (it's almost completely unreadable), I reformatted some things and have some questions about where some abilities/resistances come from?

Obviously "flight" is obvious, but there are no scans for martial arts, pressure points and a number of his resistances. do we know where these abilities and resistances come from?

Martial Arts yappery comes from Superman's Tetha State

He was also trained by some yapper on yapperworld or something a rather which could bolster the martial arts and combat IQ sections

Basically both of those but to be more clear, he'd get these from Post Crisis:

(Superman is a master combatant. Excelled in wrestling[9] and trained with Granny Goodness[10]), and (Superman is a master combatant. In his youth, he was trained by his father[46] and as an adult, he trained with some of the universe's greatest fighters[47] such as, including Wonder Woman,[48][49] Wally West,[50] Dick Grayson,[51] Batman,[46][51] Muhammad Ali,[52][53] and Mongul.[54][55] Occasionally trains when under a Red Sun to make sure he can hold his own when weakened.[56] Has over 1000 years of raw experience thanks to his years in Valhalla.[43] With his teachings, Superman has matched and defeated highly skilled fighters such as Commander Gor, a high-ranking member of Zod's military,[47] Kobra, a master of all martial arts,[57] Mongul,[58] Mongal[59] Conduit, a skilled wrestler,[60] Asmodeus,[61] Parasite,[53] Sakki,[62] and Lex Luthor.[63] Capable of fending off groups of enemies while depowered[64][56]), Pressure Points (Has shown to be skilled at precision-hitting techniques, hurting foes with finger pokes to specific areas or knocking them out with strikes to the neck[64][47][65]),

this from n52: (Stated to have “formidable brawling skills” by Captain Comet[4]), and (unlisted on vsb but important) New 52 Superman also learned boxing (Action comics vol 2 #16) from his Pa (SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #13) and did some Amazonian training with his then-girlfriend Wonder Woman. (Superman/Wonder Woman #1)

and Rebirth Superman uniquely has received training in New God martial arts from Wioska (Man of Tomorrow #7)

Ah well that saves me some "downloading HD comics and converting them to PNG" time

I just found out about that after making the calc. Welp it would upscale him even more
what's even more crazy is if you take into account how long it's been since that statement was made in universe... even just assuming it was made 24 hours ago, the DC universe grows hundreds of trillions of lightyears.

Even assuming the universe is 1 second old at the time that statement was made and 0 seconds have passed since then. And Superman took 2 months to perform the feat, Superman must have been accelerating at such an insane rate to reach the end of the Universe.

Probably one of the fastest finite speed feats in fiction

Bro is gonna surpass Supergirl's Qintillion codes feat

If we knew how old the universe was at the time of the feat, with the expansion rate we could calculate how big the universe is, wouldn't surprise me if the universe is septillions of light years across

I re-read the scan (Assuming u were refering to that). It says that Maxima's galaxy was 100 Trillions light years away from Earth, but not that it was expanding that fast (unless Im missing sum)

Action comics Vol 1 issue 782: "Superman says the universe expands at 60 trillion lightyears per half second"

I can't get the scan because my internet security software doesn't allow me to go on the readcomics website but the statement was made in the PC era

Oooh. Imma go look into it. Thanks

ahh well, that statement doesn't really imply it's a constant rate of expansion as I thought it did, it more so implies the umiverse will expand to that size.

Still, it ups the calc by about 1600 times if my maff is maffing

Not sure if its part of the main contunuity, but the Universe is said to be 20 Billion years old

latest
That's Vertigo, and the scan doesn't say Universe, but Creation, which has a drastically different meaning in Vertigo (albeit the term is sometimes used interchangeably with Universe, it refers to whole multiverses and higher planes).

I also found this Pre Crisis scan. Can we exploit it?

Yes. It refers to the effect of the DC Universe's big bang.

So that's basically...19B year old DC Universe × 60B Light years in speed?
Nah, as I said, the statement implies that the universe will expand to a specific size not continue expanding at that rate. Unless there are other scans that state a rate of expansion?

Clearly there must be some sort of expansion since during the modern times, there are galaxies that are 100 trillion light years from Earth, so the universe is larger than 60 trillion light years.

No it is not. It just refers to that within the DC Universe, the mechanics of its initial creation worked like that for its first half second. That is all. It says nothing about its later size, so I would use the information from the Adam Strange scan instead. 🙏

I'm proposing a new rule for the DC wiki profile because there needs to be a standard for creating CRT with respect to changing things. Here is an example of a thread:

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read and I'm being very nice to done down any harsher description. Death profile states that she is Nigh-Omnipresent due to being present in all life and death which can apply to Dream being there for all real and unreal things. This should already be an indicator that “lacking justification” simply is missing the scan, not that the “ability is unjustified.”

I will come later with all the scans that easily dismiss the notion that Dream doesn't have that justification. I already prepared over ten scans for the reinstating of his abilities. While I’ll post it here and not make another CRT which is a bit annoying. I'll remind people to ask knowledgeable members first about things like this, especially for any tier that's that high to “lack something” is more of a convenience thing with those tiers than them just not being justified to have it.

I've been fixing a lot of these profiles as of late and creating a bunch of things. If you're not knowgelable in the content area. Please ask the respective members of certain topics first because this is a bit demeaning of what I'm working for and it's annoying dealing with all these little things that are easily fixable.
