Chiaki Nanami, the Ultimate Gamer, VS Futaba Sakura who is... also good at videogames.

(This is human Chiaki vs idk, Mid to Late Game Futaba)

The game is Super Smash Bros Melee played on an original GameCube and on a CRT. All characters are unlocked and their match will be done following tournament rules, which they know from the start. The two have ten hours to familiarize themselves with the game on separate consoles (They have nobody but AI to play it with) before duking it out in a best of 5. They can't watch each other play.

Speed is equalized, and remember that while the girls are fairly serious about winning it's still a game, so they won't cheat, hack the GameCube or get in a fistfight over it.

Chiaki Nanami:

Futaba Sakura:

Pick up a football:

why : (

it's just two girls playing a game

for ten hours straight

I'm not that knowledgeable on Dangling Grandpa, so I don't know much about Chiaki's "Ultimate Gamer" talent or whatever it's called honestly im surprised its not even listed as a notable technique or anything, so I'm gonna try to argue for Futaba here.

im gonna use this empty space to rant about reddit spacing

So, to begin with, Futaba is a hacker, and a damn good one at that, considering she's the head honcho of Medjed and the fact that she can somehow hack Palaces and stuff. Naturally, it would be pretty easy for Futaba to discover the game's janky code, and find out what would be the best plays she can pull off with both the high and bottom tiers. Let's also not forget that Futaba also happens to have photographic memory, so you've got a person who's not only a hardcore gamer and god-tier hacker, but can also absorb a ridiculous amount of information. What does Chiaki have?

I should mention that wavedashing and stuff like that were found really rapidly in Melee history but it took several years to actually realize they're useful in movement. I know she's really smart but she's not TOO superhuman in intelligence so I doubt she'd be able to make in a couple of hourse the progress that it took several years for a whole community to make.

Wavedashing isn't that hard to learn, all you need to do is accept that it'll give you arthritis.
Jokes aside, Futaba should still have enough time to learn wavedash and koopabackdashwaveslidehoverwalkmoonland and some other unintentional techs of the game decently enough. They're allowed access to the internet, right? That should give both of them more info on the game and what-not, meaning more ways to learn how to screw eachother over.

Wavedashing isn't hard to learn (although it takes a while to get it in your muscle memory) but you have to know how and when to use it, it's not just a passive upgrade to your Melee skills, only a specific movement tech that helps in certain ways.

But no I don't think they should have access to the internet outside of knowing the tournament rules.

They get to pick their character. If you want to know the optimal choice it's probably Jigglypuff since it's a top tier and much easier than Fox.

Even then, Melee's meta took decades to develop for a reason. In retrospect "nice back air" is a really easy strategy but you have to realize that Puff's back air has a huge hitbox despite the animation. I don't expect either of them to figure out most of the subtleties.

Futaba actually destroys Chiaki. She's able to hack Cognition, and thus affect her own Palace (as to which human thought is already attributed to information), and even the Velvet Room, a nonexistent space. Funnily enough, hacking her own Palace is even more fundamental than hacking conceptual nonexistence, as even things such as The White, and the Void, are inseparably tied to information as a whole, as the former returns to the Cycle of Reincarnation, and the latter is simply a tool in the Akashic Records, a database of information that houses the concepts of reality, including the state of all Demons.

I never said Futaba would cheat, however I'm saying her scope of knowledge far exceeds Chiaki, so her learning the mechanics of a game like Smash wouldn't take her very long at all.

I feel like "look through the fabric of reality to understand everything on a conceptual level" counts as cheating

She only did the former, again, in her own mental scape, and the latter, in a dream. If she's given just a controller, and the basic to advanced tactics of Smash, she doesn't have any way of doing anything ludacris, I was just explaining her intelligence. She's also skilled in card games, too.

I see. Well, hopefully someone can debate for Chiaki, I've played DR2 but I can't really defend her
