Hello.

I would like to suggest that we should write a new suggestion to the Editing Rules page regarding that, given that this is a mainstream popular wiki, it is inappropriate to insert fan terms and slang into the profiles.

For example, "prep" should preferably be written as "preparation time", "bloodlusted" could be explained as "out of character lack of morals" (or something more fitting), and other easily understood formal language should also be used when possible.

NOTE: STAFF ONLY

While I always like to see well-structured grammar and syntax in every profile, "bloodlusted" in particular, along with many versus-battles oriented colloquialisms I think are well-enough established to be considered "proper grammar" neologisms.

I frankly find this unnecessary.

At the end of the day, we're just a wiki, we don't need to be so strictly formal to use words like "preparation time" instead of just prep. People will still understand what it means and, in my view, won't have any altered view if we used one or the other.

Also, "out of character lack of morals" is not only unnecessarily long but rather inaccurate, since there are various characters who start out in a bloodlusted state by default.

@Spino

That's what I mean by well-established neologisms. There's no need to be obtuse if people understand what we're saying. All I would prefer to see is proper grammar and syntax in profiles (punctuation, good diction, etc)

Well, I suppose that we can keep bloodlusted, but please remember that, given our current rate of growth, we will likely be more popular than the DC Comics wiki within half a year, so I think that it is good if a mainstream audience understands what we are saying.

This is also not intended to be worded as a rule, but as a suggestion.

Perhaps more emphasis should be put on said page outlining the commonplace lingo of our Wiki? The fact of the matter is that most people coming here are already somewhat aware of these terms and deviating from the norm may serve to make us less accessible to newcomers in versus debating.

Yeah, my bad. I meant that we should add the suggestion to the editing rules page.

Not to mention that almost all jargons we use have pages that explain their meaning.

This is like saying we should replace "Plot-Induced Stupidity" and "Outlier" with "a feat that only exists because the plot and script of a series demands it" and "a feat that is wildly inconsistent with other feats in a series", respectively.

Both of these terms are strange to the masses, and are frequently used by our community (and many other VS-Debating forums) to explain away inconsistencies. Should we change them? No.

Just stick to the pages and it will be fine. Prep is explained in the pages, and bloodlusted has a mention in the SBA. We just have to link the pages for these expressions.

This is a staff-only thread guys, come on.

Anyway, Kep is making sense here. The only rule that should be in place is good syntax, diction and grammar.

Okay. Never mind then.
