Dragon Ball Super Discussion Thread 100

Infinite Zamasu shouldn't there be manipulation of the law?

For people who don't know, there is a law about all 12 Universes, that they cannot go to the past, it is impossible, infinite Zamasu was distorting this whole law of not going to the past, he went to the past.

this sounds like more of a limitation for the time ring than anything else, all that is said is that there is a rule that prohibits gods from going to the past/changing history, we know that going to the past is possible thanks to the time machine, so it isn't like there is a in universe law that makes time travel to the past impossible, it is just that the time ring can't do it and that even doing so is not allowed

Someone said that Roshi and gohan know every martial arts on Earth. Is that a fake statement or is there an actual statement like that? Does anyone know?

nah grandpa gohan. theres a daizenshu statement that describes mr satan as a skilled fighter or strong grappler idk

Goku folding Bruce hand 2 hand ConFIRMED???
I hear all the time the same argument. Character X knows 10 martial arts , Goku only knows 1 so he gets folded. Lmfao. Rip

+ People who did actual martial arts would know that 95% of the skills that are taught in a martial art is useless. The remaining 5 % are somewhat redudant between the different martial arts and not equally effective (Example: Seiken from Karate <<<< straight from Boxing, or most Taekwondo kicks being trash compared to kicks from Karate or Muay Thai because they leave you wide open and offbalance....) This makes the number of applicable skills much much smaller than one would assume at first glance.

Numbers are nice, etc., but generally in a vs the quality and achievements of martial arts are taken into consideration more than quantity. Even if the work develops 100 martial arts very well and then says that a character knows them all.

the other martial arts lack hard sparring, thats one of the main reasons. It doesnt really help that 99.99% dont train traditional style techniques and most coaches are clueless when it comes to that.

Even the biggest bullshit martial art has some cool things to offer like when it comes to not damagin/breaking your hands (a good thing for boxers) ... but the combat world is full of red necks still stucked in the past so nvm.

At the end of the day everything works if the right person is equipted with it.

ignoring that batman has some thousand of chapters worth of combat feats ... yeah, numbers do matter under traditional rules.

with that being said, normal martial arts are a cool thing but fodder when it comes to wu xia martial arts.

Grand Priest negs batman and goku in a h2h fight.

It's more because at a certain point, unless you're explicitly of the "Bully" archetype, all power and no training due to innate talent (Frieza), use of Ki/Chakra/Nen/Reishi/Qi/Chi is in itself a massive demonstration of Martial Arts capability. It's "Super Martial Arts." So doing a basic task like, I don't know, using telekinesis to lift up mild objects would actually if quantified be thousands of years of combat experience in Martial Arts, or dozens of Martial Arts. But because that can't BE quantified, you're kinda just left to assume they're just "really really reeaaallly good" (because they "are"). Or if you're a feat-monger, they're shit at MA because all they do is "fire fuckass energy beams."

That's why before RoF most people kinda assumed Frieza DID train. He alluded to taking damage from his parents, he has specifically coordinated movements and attacks, can use Ki (which was explicitly connected to Martial Arts in OG DB), and so on. Obviously he hadn't become a "real fighter," because that was a large portion of how the Z-Fighters were able to last as long as they did-(Using their Earthling Training to get around their lack of Martial Arts)-But it's made pretty clear at one point by Vegeta that Earthlings Energy Use is unique in the Galaxy/Universe. (Which is why despite having trained HIMSELF, he did not have Energy Detection and relied on a Scouter.) So no one really thought harder on it. It just made sense. It's for those same reasons why everyone kinda scoffs at the logic of RoF. If he had did one pushup, he'd of gotten past the thing he feared casually. It's laughable, really.

I mean Roshi styled on someone who had a 30th degree blackbelt in Kenpo, an art that only goes up to 10 belts iirc. Roshi straight up said the difference in skill between them was just too vast.

Either way, that's an insane feat.

Hey Dragon Ballers.

A user recently made this edit to the Dragon Ball Toei verse page, saying that the 2-C rating the verse scales to is 3 universes.

Is that accurate?
