Some interesting things regarding a few DMC3 Japanese vs English differences.
Also, apparently the Astronomical Board isn't a "key" item in that it is an actual key in the literal sense and mission 4's japanese subtitle translates to "obtain the "key" that displays (or depicts) the stars.", yes the quotations marks are in original japanese. The Astronomical Board is called "Astrological board of eternal darkness" or "Astronomy tablet of everlasting darkness" in japanese and the translation of the japanese description is "A board used for astronomy which depicts a world of eternal darkness where not even the stars shine. It is often used paired with clocks."
This stuff is pretty interesting and brings up some questions. If we take the "world of eternal darkness" to mean the demon world the translations could either mean the demon world has no stars or the demon world does have stars but they literally do not shine. But if we take it to mean the original DMC universe back to when the human world and demon world were one universe, then it calls into question the board's origin when everything was one universe. Was it created after or before the split? If before, who created it? If after, who or what gave them the knowledge? Now this stuff may never get answered and the astronomical board along with everything with it is likely kill lore wise, it's still interesting to think about.
