I say this hurts more chances of Yang vs Leone since Yang vs Bakagou can happen next year since it's popular.
Yang vs Leone is an history match up, but it seems it might not happen if Akame ga Kill isn't happening this season.
To be fair, with they way RWBY vol 8 is going, I think they will want to wait to use any Yang matchups until Vol 9 is done.

I especially like the bit about stomps, the reality is that a vast majority of popular and thematic matchups are stomps to some degree, so disqualifying matchups on those grounds pretty much kills the show right then and there. I always found it weird that matchups like Shadow vs. Ryuko or Blake vs. Mikasa get controversial reputations for being too one-sided, but then fights like Steven vs. Star or Goku Black vs. Reverse Flash are almost universally liked, even though those matchups are pretty much equally stompy.

I'm guessing its because either people over/underestimate certain characters in matchups or its more of a case of "noooooo, i don't like this character i want muh character stonp match"

Actually, I've found the people on Reddit who downplay the most claim to be fans of the series in question.
yeah but as you know
Reddit is horrible for power levels.
Reddit is kinda poopoo in general depending on how you use it
