Cell with long prep times

If Cell had a day prep or more for his battles, wouldn't he be able to become substantially powerful, due to his ability to self-destruct, regenerate entirely and receive huge Zenkai boosts?

Zenkai can't be intentionally triggered by grievously harming yourself, it's why Vegeta needed Krillin to blast a hole in his chest on Namek.

Cell's Zenkai was self inflicted... He blew himself up and returned with a Zenkai.

Gohan was dominating Perfect Cell, but Super Perfect Cell was dominating Gohan from his Zenkai boost.

It leads me to believe that in a vs battle, Cell could possibly beat characters with initially superior statistics than him, given any prep time.

That could happen... To bad Cell might not do that for his prep time, he's a very prideful/cocky individual. He would likely just believe he's Perfect and won't bother to use it but I guess that's if you made him in character with prep. Other then that if he had prep he would most likely train over anything though if he had Intel on his opponent and knew they where more powerful than him then I'd believe he would blow himself up and regenrate to get a Zenkai.

If Super Perfect Cell were used, and he was bloodlust, then he may rely on this in that case.
