Range vs Versitalty plus lighting absorption thou that should happen at max once, I don't know Laxus being able to turn into lighting allows him to dodge more easily but he has to deal with versitalty while he has that range advantage...

Highschool DxD magic (save Issei and other spells) seems slightly more based around the classic idea of a "spell." Either words are said or the necessary magic circle must be drawn. Akeno has incredibly powerfull 1st gen kamehameha-like spells at her disposal, however they take time that frankly, when figjting Laxus, she wouldn't have. It's like the prospect of Goku's spirit bomb vs Superman: Superman could potentially be affected; however, realistically, Superman would never give Goku a chance to build up yhe power to use it.

Um, I'm pretty sure she can use her spells fast. It doesn't take as much time as you're indicating.

Akeno doesn't have a chance as in this Key she is using 95% Lightning. Laxus easy difficulty.
