Do those long videos allow you to upload the remaining 19 spaces for screenshots in the same gallery assuming you have extra space or is that not viable?
I just tested. You can add up to 20 screenshot/videos, but only each file must be individually 30 mb or less (Meaning you can upload 3 videos of 17mb individually within the album with no problem)

Ok so it's not that the entire gallery is limited to 30 MB total, it's just each individual post in the gallery is limited to 30 MB. That sounds more manageable, especially with scans that don't need 20+ screenshots to explain everything. Thanks for clarifying it.

Yes. Thank you for helping out.

Is Catbox sufficient for our wiki's needs, and is Image Chest sufficiently useful to be worth the potential risk of using it as well? 🙏

The core drawback for Catbox is being blocked for some users.

I think that Image Chest would be useful in some situations. I'd personally list it, but it's not so necessary that I'd be upset if it was left out.

Okay. What do other staff members here think? 🙏

Image chest is a good substitute to use imo. The only downside I can see for Image Chest compared to Imgur is that the former doesn't let you post over 20 scans but multiple galleries can mitigate that issue.

The other downsides are that it only allows a few file types (they only accept mp4 for video), and that they've been around for less time, meaning they've got less of a track record.

What about specific image uploads, are JPEGs and PNGs allowed or only a niche type of image file? As for the MP4, depending on the computer you use, you should have built in video editors that can change the file type to MP4 if it's necessary.

They allow jpeg, png, gif, webp, and mp4. Those are the only five types.

They do cover many of the common ones. Needing to render videos in mp4 is annoying but doable.

Ok so most of the common image types are doable for the site, the video part would need a bit of work but I think it can work as a substitute rather than a full on replacement for Imgur.

Well, I am mostly worried about that the Image Chest site as a whole will be suddenly shut down after a few years. 🙏

We don't know for sure if it's going to shut down or not. It's too early to jump to conclusions on how unstable Image Chest, and we've got 2 confirmations from users on the forum that it is helpful, so I don't see why we should freak out over hypothetical outcomes that aren't true atm.

Well, the issue is that Catbox seems considerably more stable in that regard, going by the ChatGPT evaluations, and I don't think that we should take massive chances with many thousands of scans suddenly disappearing at the same time after a few years. 🙏

I don't think there is a real risk about it though. Domain expiry date isn't really meaningful for determining that. Like, catbox's domain will expire a few months later this year iirc.

At worst, they have a discord server. It can probably be asked there if they're planning something like that.

Okay. I suppose that makes sense. Is somebody willing to politely ask them for how long they plan to maintain their site? 🙏

I had issues with Imgur before the OSA kicked in. I gambled on using Imgchest, and I've never had a single issue since.

I saw some profiles linking to postimg.cc, which was also mentioned as an alternative. The site says it was founded in 2004, but I wonder whether there have been any problems with it

Have we determined what sites to use? Some CRTs are waiting on this.

Well, CatBox seems self-evidently fine, and probably ImageChest as well, but somebody needs to competently write our new rules. 🙏

However, there is this issue regarding ImageChest as well. 🙏

Is somebody willing to very politely ask them about this issue please? 🙏

If anything is shut down, it's gone. Anywhere.
No one knows the future anywhere, so the only honest answer I can give you is we don't just willy nilly delete anything without DMCA or TOS items....
I also have no intent of shutting this project down any time I know of. The biggest risk, to me is financial for a site like this.

Thankfully we have had a supportive community that is willing to pay a little bit. That all goes toward Image Chest. It is a one man show that I've never been paid for.

If you are at all worried about longevity, I would love to see you and anyone else either donate or subscribe to be a gold member.

Is there a decided site because what the hell do you mean thousands of Honkai Impact and Star Rail scans are gone because of Imgur being crap?????
Our site primarily. In conjunction with ImgChest, Catbox and any other reliable long-lasting alternatives this thread might have mentioned. here.

Well, our wiki might be used for brief text scans and the like, but we do not want it shut down due to extreme amounts of copyright complaints, so it seems much safer to use primarily Catbox and secondarily ImgChest instead.

Is somebody in our staff willing to write an updated rule text for us please? 🙏

Yes, perhaps, but not for extensive text segment scans of entire pages. That seems too risky.

I would also prefer if we could simply store everything in our wiki, as it would be much more practical, but unfortunately there are big legal copyright infringement risks connected to that option, as a Fandom staff member has confirmed to me. 🙏

We still need help with this. Is somebody in our staff willing to handle it please? 🙏

I feel it would be a great idea if supporters from each verse went through their scans and swapped them from imgur to some other site as a just in case so what happened to hi3 doesnt happen to others

That seems like a good idea, yes. 🙏

Agnaa did in previous page:

We recommend Imgur (link), Catbox (link), and the wiki itself (link) as the best free file hosting services for media needed for profiles or blogs. The wiki often works well, but full-page comic scans cannot be uploaded due to copyright issues, the file limit is rather small, workarounds must be done to present multiple files in series or with descriptions, and they can't be properly embedded on our forum. Imgur, when used with an account, avoids many of these issues, but still has troublesome limits on sufficiently large videos, images are occasionally deleted without warning or notification, it's blocked in the UK, and users occasionally face issues with uploading files. Catbox avoids most of these issues, with a very generous file limit, but requires an account to add descriptions or create albums, and is blocked in Australia as well as by some ISPs.

But since you suggested replacing 'cannot' with 'are not allowed to' and using Catbox, Imgur, and the Wiki as primary hosts with Imgchest as secondary:
We recommend using Imgur (link), Catbox (link), and the wiki itself (link) as primary hosts for free file hosting services for media needed for profiles or blogs, While those are the preferred options, Imgchest (link) is also recommended as a secondary host if the others aren't working for you. The wiki often works well, but full-page comic scans are not allowed to be uploaded due to copyright issues, the file limit is rather small, workarounds must be done to present multiple files in series or with descriptions, and they can't be properly embedded on our forum. Catbox avoids most of these issues, with a very generous file limit, but requires an account to add descriptions or create albums, and is blocked in Australia as well as by some ISPs. Imgchest, while reliable, is newer than our primary hosts and is thus recommended as a secondary option.

Thank you, although the current issue seems to be if we should encourage using CatBox and secondarily ImgChest instead of Imgur, given that Imgur seems to regularly delete lots of our images.

Also, do any others have any evaluations for Gyazo? 🙏
