Speaking of Darkshine fans, I'm realizing that if he had thought to do so, Darkshine could have burst out of Tatsumaki's bubble like Iaian did to save the mercenaries in order to save Darkshine while he was having his monsterization heart attack.

What do you think would have happened if Darkshine ran over to pick up/shield Garou from the rubble in the middle of that? Would it have impacted the outcome of the monsterization?

Dragonslayer's ability to damage on the astral plane allows him to counter zombieman's regen somewhat.
PPP depends entirely on how you scale them.
I'd say Guts can beat BoS PPP, but he grew a lot during MA arc.

Would Guts in his Berserker Armor be S-Class level?
Nah, he'd be a high level A-Class certainly.

Guts kinda gets glazed a ton in the powerscaling community (mainly out of bias since he's such an iconic and beloved character), but when people pretend he can facetank a nuclear bomb and walk it off like nothing, it's completely disregarding what the character he is represents. Guts isn't meant to be absurdly powerful, he represents the pinnacle of human tenacity and strength. He is bottom of the barrel levels of superhuman and overcomes his limits whenever it's demanded of him because of his infinite will and undying rage. But ultimately, he is still a human with human limitations. If Guts was completely restrained (or otherwise vulnerable), a normal person with a knife could feasibly kill him if his body is exposed.

With the Berserker Armor, he can temporarily surpass his human limits and actually match Apostle's in a physical contest, but it destroys his body in return, and even then, Apostle's are by no means some Deep Sea King level characters, they're like, Tiger level Monster's at best lol.

Ignoring narrative and just focusing on feats and scaling, base Guts has nothing putting him above building level AP with like wall-small building level durability and maybe HH+-MHS speed if we really take his feats against the lightning dude at face value (which I struggle to do since base Guts could barely keep up with a mach level attack in the Lost Children arc and there is absolutely no implication he got thousands of times faster). With the Berserk armor he gets above these stats but not enough to even beat like...Iaian, I'm gonna be fr with you. His regeneration is no big deal either, especially since it's not really regen so much as forcing his body to keep itself standing. If he gets his head destroyed or takes an otherwise overwhelmingly lethal attack he'll just die. Will power can't save him from that.

With prep time he might be able to handle the three disciples but (not including Amai Mask) he's just stopping at PPP, he has literally nothing that can do anything of significance to PPP who'll grab the Dragonslayer and punch it in two then crush Guts' skull like a watermelon, even through the Berserk armor, he horrendously outscales Guts even if we take him at his highest regards.

This really hurts to hear since PPP is like my least favorite character ever and Guts is one of my favorite characters... It would be nice to see Guts slice that grapists face in half

PPP can't kill Guts because he's fated to not die so he can just suffer longer. Tbh he'd prob get S class off that fact alone if they ever figure out it's a thing which tbh Guts doesn't even know it's a thing.

Damn only A-Class? I seriously don't see him losing to Zombieman or Prisoner
What is the strongest monster Guts has beaten?? The best feat I know from him is beating the sea god. Most of the apostles in Berserk vary from demon to tiger from what I've seen. I'm not sure if ascended Ganishka would be a dragon for reference, given the lack of supersonic speed.

I don't think Guts could tank and parry multiple shots like this from Zombieman for reference, even with the Beserker armor.

Compare him to Iaian. Could Guts parry Homeless Emperor's bombardment? ENW's streams? Outrun bullets like so? I think he'd be upper A-rank but maybe I'm missing some major feats for the Berserker armor since I haven't read more than like 10% of the series

Murata made CERTAIN to stick in that boob-shot during the surgery scene. Lol, I don't recall that being in the webcomic

Interesting that the Neos don't seem
that much stronger than Great Philosopher here, if at all. I'm sure his statements are similar to the webcomic. Is this a battle suit base downscale or a Great Philsopher upscale, I wonder?

No, it's 1:1 with the webcomic pretty much.

The surgery reminded me of this other Genos illustration where he has cables sticking out of his body and stuff

Murata seems happy to draw Webigaza/Wavygaza.
Wonder if he still considers Fubuki besto gyal
We'll never know because he'll never livestream his art again 😭

Did they ever give an official reason for stopping the livestreams and the Q/As? Please people it's been 7 years, as soon as I joined they stopped doing them...

Murata: I have had some changes in my perspective. Streaming and twitter was a platform to advertise my own work, but now I feel that I should socialize more and get along with others. This is the reason why I have recently started retweeting other people's work more often. I'm already 40 years old, so I will spend more effort on this aspect, and will not be streaming for the time being.

T/N: Murata will likely stop streaming in the future. He will focus on improving his professional relationships. He is working on 5 projects at the same time, 6 if including OPM.

Murata's 48 now then, and ONE has been doing OPM webcomic for 17 years now so he must be like 35-40 himself.

I personally figure that age is a real big factor for both, something that has been influencing the release schedule since they've been doing OPM for about 15 years now together. Based on my own vague calculations this thing could last until 2040 if they're not careful lol (both will be around sixty by then).

I completely get it, but I would pay EITHER a-not-insignificant sum of money to answer fan questions. ONE I need Word of God statements, why are you trying not to laugh bruh?

This series has gone to hell. The art is so mediocre now it's not even funny. The chapters are ridiculously short and the progression is awful. It's been almost 4 years since the MA arc ended and the story literally has not progressed. And this is somewhat unrelated but I'm kinda tired of Murata being such a hornball. The dude is like 50, why is he still so obsessed with the breasts of women less than half his age? What purpose is there to draw Webigaza's gigantic titꜱ in that panel when she's having surgery? Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a man.

This series has gone to hell.
I'll be honest, you're pretty bummed out about the series and I get it, but seeing you complain about it so frequently is annoying. I might be a toxic positivist but I do come here specifically to enjoy this series and forget my real world concerns, so I'd rather not have to brood over various things that it could be doing better.

The art is so mediocre now it's not even funny.
If I take the time to sit with this criticism I notice that Murata does waaaay less cross hatching and lighting variations with his backgrounds now than he did up until somewhere in the MA arc. That said, I wouldn't notice this difference if I wasn't carefully cross-referencing similar panels now to say panels from chapter 50, 70, 90. There have actually been a few moments in recent chapters where I've paused on panels to appreciate their beauty.

Certainly in older chapters, those moments were more common and the lighting really helped convey the mood of scenes. That makes a big difference in how scenes feel.
The chapters are ridiculously short and the progression is awful. It's been almost 4 years since the MA arc ended and the story literally has not progressed.
Okay, it's been 41 months/3 and a half years since the MA arc ended (August 2022), and, yeah, the Ninja redraws sucked. I agree with you fully there.

From October 2023 to January 2025 there was literally no movement because of [REDACTED], meaning Murata had to illustrate one arc three times in a row. However in terms of progression, the MA arc was literally 37 chapters in the WC and we spent five years adapting everything from the HA's assembly to the end of the Garou fight.

Outside of that giant black hole, which is very big mind you, the series is actually progressing rapidly (31 chapters of WC material since aug 2022) to the point that we'll run out of new WC content in two years or so if ONE doesn't add more manga original plot beats in the neo heroes. These biweekly half chapters don't hit as hard as monthly full chapters would, that's true. It really affects my enjoyment of the series because the excitement of a new development often gets chopped up between two or three different releases.

Re-reading the newer arcs, I've actually really enjoyed and been able to immerse myself in them, far more than I did on release.

Yeah that's definitely a problem. I think mangakas don't see their families enough.

I no longer have much desire to follow this series, unfortunately.

Genuinely, between the anime completely obliterating the source material and the source material itself seemingly just becoming worse and worse as time goes by, it's hard to find much hope.

I still love the webcomic, though. And maybe in the future the manga will pick up again. Idk. Lately it's been pretty bleak.

but the webcomic is not enough, and it lacks content in general (which people don't want to bring up since they think the webcomic is peak in all things)

get worse in what exactly, if I may ask?
because at the moment, apart from certain changes, it has followed the webcomic very faithfully

I sure hope Murata don't adapt saitama Vs drive knight faithfully. ONE did Drive Knight’s character dirty in that fight.

Every manga chapter is like 15 pages now with art that is genuinely not much better than an average shounen weekly. Additionally we just had a moment where we were stuck on the same arc for 2 years, only for that commitment to be worth nothing. And for us to be left with a worse conclusion. Now, it's just following the webcomic, which is fine, but i no longer feel as if the manga elevates the content to the same extent.

OPM chapters before used to be 40 pages long with by far and wide the best art in all current-airing manga.

The big problem is when the manga started we had the Boros fight to look forward.
We got it.
Then we had the Garou fight or even the entire MA arc to look foward, wich we did get, leading to an extreme peak, both in terms of stakes, character development (at least in webcomic) and plot progression.
As of now we srill have no real moments after Garou that can reach the same level of plot importance and climax as Garou vs Saitama did.
Ninja arc then got botchered many times, wich shaked the faith people had in ONE and Murata and after that we just got a 1/1 adaptation of the webcomic and not only do we get shorter chapters, but the art is just not as stellar and we lack the big improvements in scale, choreography and extra character moments the manga usually did.

As of now Neo Heroes still has not yet reached it's conclusion nor climax (wich seems to be Saitama vs Genos) so we only have buildup to look forward to, wich creates an era of pretty so-so investment from the fans in the series. Wich only got worse by a lot of Anime fans dropping the series due to terrible animation.

Well I'm looking forward to see how this arc and the saga in general is expanded upon, maybe something akin to the extended Hero Hunter arc. It'd be pretty dissapointing if we continue with the 1:1.
Get this, 1:1 of this scene after all of suiryu's development

The manga has changed too much to keep fully 1:1 with the webcomic storywise.
What people look forward was seeing how the Manga would improve it. Not just seeing it get copied 1:1 with another artstyle.
Usually it greatly improves fights as well as the slice of life moments. When the changes are too minor there isn't a lot to look forward to.

I’d say it’s the webcomic changing things despite knowing the manga is adapting it like with Suiryu, Drive Knight, and Amai Mask suddenly being treated as redeemable after slaughtering the mercenaries.
