Yeah, sure. I was really just going off there.
Doing it with self-awareness makes all the difference. That's good to hear.
So is Elfilis still the most evil villain after the new Nova stuff? And is Nova the same individual as the Super Star one?
Judging the evil of the Kirby villains is a topic I enjoy:
I would say Elfilis isn't as bad as most people think. Before Star-Crossed World, they were implied to be invasive by nature, and after Star-Crossed World, they were shown to have a brother with the same family job. Makes you wonder how much freedom they had to choose to live their lives another way. We do know they have a heart with
the ability to do good because of Elfilin; However, the idea that "their lives may be rigged into evil" remains the same, we still don't know how much nurishment their hearts would need to for them to become good. Anyone in a bad environment likely to grow up evil can have the ability to overcome their circumstances and be good anyway, doesn't remove the fact they are in an environment that makes it likely for them to grow up evil.
Then Elfilis was captured, which is justified. And they were kept on inhuman conditions for years, which violates human rights, completely unjustified regardless of their evil. And Elfilis had their heart split from their body, losing
the ability to even be good for years to come. Obviously, Elfilis would sink in their evil desires. When merging back with Elfilin, there is no reason to say they kept Elfilin's memories, Elfilis' newfound capability for good passes by discreetly. Elfilin is all but shut down, Elfilis even being able to act the same when Elfilin emanated from their body, and when it got ripped away; It's like Elfilis is just Fecto Forgo in a new form.
The Figurine of Elfilis with their brother also implies they like each other. The brother did came to avenge Elfilis after all, and God of Chaos Chaos Elfilis uses their brother's spear.
Beyond all that, yes, Elfilis is a conqueror who wants to control planet after planet after planet, and destroys planets when things don't go their way. They use pawns as soldiers, manipulate others, uses slaves for labor, and is not just willing to murder, but regularly destroys the souls of those they consume, denying a potential afterlife.
As for Nova:
Now, we don't know if all mechanical stars are evil. It's possible, given how Star Dream is evil. But this would make the ancients evil, which is weird (they always had reasons to dodge being evil before), and Star Dream was built badly.
Air Rider's narrative somewhat implies Nova chose to be evil, with Nova being a machine alive much like Zorah, who chose to be good and could work even with reduced to a little of its will.
If we say Nova chose evil, then it is a different kind of monster than Elfilis. It is a comet who became a meteor. Its actions aren't as destructive as Elfilis', and it would take years for Nova what Elfilis does in a day. But Nova has something going for it that makes it worse; Nova has no reason to be doing evil. Nova is not ideologically motivated or following a dogma. Nova doesn't have fellows to protect or honor. Nova does not seek to rule, believing itself to deserve the position. Nova does not gain anything from its actions, not power, not resources. Nova cultivates death, with much pain along the way if you're lucky. This is either the purest form of sadism, or it seeks eradication with 0 emotions. Nova is so evil, madness needs to be on the table as well to make sense of its character.
Star Dream was serving a master, seeking to grant its wish of prosperity based on its evaluation of life, however flawed that was. Hyness was an absolute bastard, but I can more or less see how a person may create religious beliefs to justify horrors; It's super immoral, but I can see the logic behind it.
With wanna-be conquers, you can always assume they want the position of power itself, to achieve it being a feat in and of itself, and maintaining it keeping them content. Maybe they will not care about the ones they rule, which would be apathy. Maybe they will care a little, whose to say. Maybe they are out to torment their subjects, which is terrible, but how much evil will they bring? Would a random Kawasaki keep on being able to sell food on his restaurant if Magolor takes over? Or Dark Mind? Or Sectonia (base form)? And so on.
You can have some microscopic level of understanding over how most villains may rationalize their actions and move on, making sense of who they became even if who they became is evil. Rationalization is crazy for the immoral. But with someone like Nova, there is either no rationalization, or it is something much worse, bc its actions give it nothing to work on. Again, Nova gains nothing, it takes w/o giving
anything in return. If we say Nova chose to be evil, then Nova is the most evil
Kirby villain with free will.
