Do you guys think Genos is a robot/AI similar to Drive Knight ? And that everything about his backstory, including the "mad cyborg" was made up from the start?

I can see it, especially considering that image in the post above. He’s gotten chunks of his head gouged out, so what part of him could even still be organic?

Edit: At least I thought he did, can’t seem to actually find it, might just be thinking of the times he’s had his face partially peeled off but the skull was intact.

Didn't we see his brain during DSK arc? His backstory is almost certainly made up though. Bofoi already thinks it is and Genos speculated it as well in auidobooks. We also know how easily his memory can be altered thanks to OVAs.

If Genos memories can be fabricated and stuff maybe his brain isn't even a real brain? Who knows.

If he is actually a human it is just as messed up though. Because he doesn't even know why he's a cyborg now in that case. His true backstory is a mystery.

It's possible that the old theories that Genos is the Mad Cyborg might be true, but Genos had his memories altered to make it seem like he was a victim of the Mad Cyborg's rampage.

I think what Metal Knight was talking about the human brain holding the true potential and not AI is more or less what Kuseno tried with Genos

Drive Knight being fully AI will have some sort of limit (and thus, a failure) while Genos having a human brain can break through certain limits, which is more or less what we saw from him through the series

So yeah, I think Genos has a human brain, even if slightly modified

Well to use retconed information, when the HoE guy was going over limiters Genos was originally included with the monsters. As a guess, machines likely don't have limiters as much as outright limitations due to their state of being as construct beings. An organic being has a limiter that they're able to push through and break to evolve, even if they're mostly robotic, like with Genos. So I could see the main purpose of Genos being trying to combine technology with someone capable of breaking their limiter, to make a machine capable of constantly evolving and getting stronger. The mad cyborg would always been something Genos is pushing himself to beat, which could work like with Garou's obsession over a true hero, letting him start to break his limiter.

It's all about will. Even objects can gain will. (have a planned thread about it, but kinda stuck :d)

So basically just the Cosmic Garou fight? Lmao
The point of the Cosmic Garou fight, while not well done imo, was giving Saitama his wish. He fights an opponent that he can go 100% on, but that dream is hollow because his friends are dead and he's lost everything. There's no real enjoyment to be had from fighting, which serves as counter to Saitama's stated goals earlier in the series.

For the webcomic if it goes down that route, Genos matching Saitama would probably work better in that context. Since it's unlikely that everyone dies like with CF Garou and Saitama still gets a fight he wanted, but it's completely hollow because it's ultimately a very shallow dream.
