I ain't finna lie the Duchess makin' me wanna act unwise.

The DLC will be released in Q4 2025 and will bring new characters and bosses.
RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED! MAY 30TH!

There's DLC coming too!
Anyone else iffy about this? It hasnt even released yet and they already have planned dlc and even a "deluxe edition" you can pay extra in order to get it. This seems a lot like fromsoft starting to test the limits and see how much they can get away with copying other game monetization schemes.

Not really. pretty sure DS3 did the same thing with its deluxe edition and this one is coming out in Q4 of 2025. So it's not like it's on-release DLC that holds back content that clearly was already in the base game. I also remember hearing that the director said on stream that they have more of an outline for the DLC and real development will start after the game's release. This sounds alot like what happened in Shadow of the Erdtree where its development started shortly after the game was nearing completion and they knew they had ideas they wanted to explore there they couldn't in the base game. It'll just be new characters and bosses. Definitely, the DLC needed for roguelikes, and the games are not even fully priced. So in other words, I'm fairly optimistic about it.

okay so I didn't get to actually play anything LMAO. BUT I tested so many different mechanics that It was actually kinda worth it.

Like for example finding out that every character has a unique move set related to the weapon type they start with. Take Wylder for example he starts with a great sword, and any greatsword he uses utilizes a completely unique moveset than from the base game. like his backstep attack has him jump forward into the air and strike down with his sword. Completely unique compared to anything in the base game and when other characters make a backstep attack with a greatsword they do the base Elden Ring backstep attack. The same can be said with the dutchess, she has completely unique dager moves that no one else has.

Some weapons also had unique effects, mainly remembrance or legendary weapons that had golden rarities. Take the sacred relic sword for example with charge heavies it would release golden rings of light in an AOE. The golden order greatsword summoned its sigil below your feet and cleared aliments. the crazy thing is since the effects are both activated through a heavy attack, if you have both weapons equipped and use a heavy attack. BOTH EFFECTS WILL ACTIVATE AT ONCE. WHICH LOOKS SO DAMN COOL.

This test was a failure and a success. A failure in that I didn't play the damn game lol. But a success in that I thoroughly explored the mechanics and abilities of the characters. Honestly, even that alone was really fun.

I personally don't see it as anything bad. First off, this isn't the first time Fromsoft has done this. DS3 released with a deluxe edition that also included a season pass and promised DLC in the future.

Also, I see this DLC package as a way to add more content to the game over time without making it a consistent live service games with updates. I'd much rather pay 15 extra dollars outright for a stream of new content, rather than paying 5 dollars every time they come out with a single new character, map, or boss. Granted, I'm a huge Fromsoft fanboy, but considering how the game is only 40 bucks and won't even cost as much as other modern AAA titles with the deluxe edition, then I personally don't mind.

As another side note, so far the Nightfarers seem to be on the level of around the mid-game tarnished, considering they can go toe-to-toe with Morgott, however there are a few interesting aspects to this. Morgott (or as his boss name calls him, "The Fell Omen") seems to be almost... mind controlled? It's hard to see in most of the footage, his face is shrouded in a purple mist, similar to the skybox and even the grab attack Gladius uses. He's still conscious, as when we encounter him as a surprise field boss he actively calls out the Nightfarers, but I wouldn't be surprised if his actions are being swayed by Gladius, the final Night Lord, or whatever is controlling the Ring of Reign.

About sums it up. Besides all the ability testing for the characters and all that. Like you can jump while using the wylders hook to gain some alright vertical movements. Or how you can use his ult uncharged to get blasted backwards for movement. Or maybe how the Recluse has A MINI PLACIDUSAX NUKE

So yeah besides the game not working messing around with the mechanics was pretty fun.

We really are pretty spoiled if a game + DLC costing less than a fully priced game gets people up in arms lol.

Also, played the first Network Test. Didn't get to leave the RT hold but I messed around with the characters. Absolutely loving the movement and new mechanics. Duchess might be my favorite, cause of how fast and nimble she is.

finished the second session today. and ngl guys I might cry from peak fiction. IT WAS SO COOL AND FUN. what they did to Morgott was insane. I see why people said it's like playing a mod lol(not derogatory)

Just some class showcases. Also there is apparently a pile bunker move at 0:47, which I’m always excited to see.

So I was talking with Sheev about this before, but do you guys think I should make a CRT to boost Miquella's Mind Hax potency in his god form? While we only ever see him place his two charms on the tarnished to sway their heart, its heavily implied through the story that God Miquella would be capable of controlling the hearts of every being in the world to enforce his age of compassion.

I don't see why not. It's extremely heavily implied (bordering on straight up confirmed) Miquella would brainwash people if his age of compassion were to ever come to fruition

True, but the question becomes why couldn't he just insta-brainwash the Tarnished like he would to the rest of the world?

I think the simplest answer here is just that the tarnished is simply the strongest. None matches their might in pure power or will. It's so far above the normal lot that it takes significant effort for them to be charmed. And this should apply to those who scale to this level somewhat (Ansbach, Thiollier, and all the lord-level fighters)

Lets also not forget that Miquella actually needs to double brainwash the Tarnished in the same fight for it to even work correctly and even if he does the Tarnished will just respawn anyways, negating the effect entirely. Which is interesting to me since that would mean Mindhax that leaves them incapacitated isn't even a viable wincon against them in VS Threads.

That makes sense, I’m just wondering if the reason he didn’t mind hax him immediately is just cause he doesn’t have the Elden Ring yet. By that mean is that he does have the ability to mind hax the world, but only with the Elden Ring through manipulation of its great runes

I know canonically the Tarnished respawns, but since we get a unique death screen saying “Heart Stolen”, isn’t this one instance of death a gameplay purpose and we actually join Miquella?

Pretty sure you can find your remains still.
Still think that's a part of the gameplay purposes thing. I mean considering all of the build-up to Miquella's ability to charm people and how dangerous it is. It would feel weird if the tarnished could just "nu uh" it, especially since it has a whole special death message and pose accompanying it. So they probably do lose in that scenario in the story but for gameplay purposes, you come back and can get back any runes you lost.

It's kinda like how you can come back after dying to Maliketh and get your stuff back.

True, but the question becomes why couldn't he just insta-brainwash the Tarnished like he would to the rest of the world?
That's probably just the tarnished being resistant to it. Iirc Ansbach kind of implies Miquella touched him only once and managed to brainwash him, and that was pre godhood Miquella.

I don't think the tarnished can "Nuh uh" mind control either, respawning is probably just a game mechanic, just like how we respawn even if we die to Maliketh or how bosses somehow revert to their 1st phase if we die during their 2nd phase (something tells me it would be pretty hard for Midra to regain his head or for Messmer to put his shattered eye back inside his eye socket)

Okay, I'll make a CRT on this since it's a pretty big change to the profile, but it seems like the consensus is that Miquella's mind control in god form is global in effect, but the Tarnished is resistant to it unless he directly charms him. Let me know if that seems right

Seems about right, although it's been a while since I've dabbled in anything ER related so is there anyone with resistance to mind hax besides our playable tarnished? Global range is very nice but it'd also be cool if the potency could get bumped up to affect people with resistances.

I think bosses and other characters are immune to bewitching branches which have a portion of Miquella’s mind controlling powers.

Tarnished is simply too strong to be instantly controlled I believe (plus if they have Miquella's Great Rune, it offers them greater resistance). Also, Miquella just barely became a God when we reach him. Not even that, he becomes a God in the middle of the final fight. So obviously he doesn't have time to properly develop his powers and it might have taken a long time before he could control the entire LB by himself

That’s what I’m saying though. If that’s the case and it’s only a matter of time”well he could’ve eventually” doesn’t really work unless we want to put it as a “possibly” on his profile.

Like I said though, I’ll make a crt where we can discuss it more in-depth, and maybe get a few more people in it.

In all honesty, we don't even know how he wanted to do that. Maybe he would craft another, massively powerful spell, maybe he would have created another Haligtree to spread his influence, idk

Btw, did someone make his profile or start to post DLC profiles? Also, what are the plans for Nightreign? Are the available characters going to have their own profile or a general Nightfearer profile?

That's why I suggested it may have been something he could only accomplish with the Elden Ring, since know that the Elden Ring can influence all living beings at once.

I started messing around with making a recluse profile, but she is undoubtedly the most complex character of all considering she has 14 unique spell combinations based one what she absorbs (and some of those spells even have unique hax based on the combination, like Fire+Magic+Lightning making a gravity bomb, or Magic+Holy+Lightning making and ice storm aoe).

All the Nightfarers should have unique profiles since they are all unique characters. All of them will have their own story, and none of them share abilities or appearances with one another. For all intents and purposes they are completely different, despite them all having seemingly similar combat skill, and possibly some similar hax like their acrobatics, summoning (with spectral hawks), and statistic amplification through leveling up and consuming other kinds of materials.

Mmh could you post your blog here if you made one, just to see what it would look like (not intending to make a profile for her, just simple curiosity)?

It's barebones rn, but if you want to see it is buried in my second sandbox with every other profile I've had in the works. I know it's cluttered but I swear I have a order to my chaos lol.

The "At least High 6-B, possibly 4-A" makes me wonder, has it been accepted and who should it be applied to aside from the Tarnished? I'd say Elden Beast and Marika/Radagon at least but is there someone else?

The High 6-B to 4-A rating is really just for god level characters (Marika, Miquella, Ranni, the Elden Beast, possibly a few other people). Lords on the other hand are significantly weaker and thus I think should stay in the 7-A to possibly 4-A range. Radahn is an exception since he actually was empowered by Miquella during his battle, but normal Consort Radahn should be weaker.

Also, I've been thinking of playing around with a possible 5-C rating for god characters, considering we know gods like Ranni literally controls A MOON. I think it's worthy of a CRT too, but we got heavy confirmation in the DLC that the moons of the Carians are celestial objects, and Ranni clarifies heavily that under her order she will command the Dark Moon by placing the Elden Ring within it and sending it far out into space.

ALSO also, just for the sake of maintaining the scaling chain, I'm considering having the Scadutree fragments be an actual part of the reasoning in his key, considering how SotE likely takes place before the Tarnished ascends to lordship (with them being an "aspiring lord" and all), yet they are able to fight a god without much issue.

Well, can't wait for the CRT
