Does it also include media from x country adapted in y country (for example, Solo Leving is Korean but was adapted in Japan, Castlevania is a Japanese franchise but the animation was made by the West)?

Just to know the range of what I can recommend.

For me Frieren was enjoyable. I didn't come looking for entertainment I came looking to chill. I liked the exposition because I generally like slow talkative anime. I came for the vibes and I got vibes. To me it's a 8.5 to 9/10 with my main issue being nobody ever reacting to pain properly.

The thing is, Frieren isn't really very thoughtful or interesting in those bits, either. Anime dialogue is like. some of the least subtle writing of all time, I think. Everything must be overexplained.

I don't remember the part in particular, but there was a scene where someone was questioning Frieren's actions. And she had a flashback about Himmel doing essentially the same thing on their adventure, and maybe five minutes later it cuts back to Frieren saying "Well. I don't know, maybe I do it for me. It's what Himmel the Hero would do." as if that was a thoughtful thing to say? It had been said dozens of times at that point. Himmel the Hero should have the most mind-bogglingly complex and laid out set of moral codes and traditions at this point. And yet it's always "be decent". I find it all deeply, deeply agitating.

I think it's just anything anime-like. Probably.

This is correct. Anime as a style, I don't care at all about country of origin. Castlevania was even a suggestion I considered good, it looked decent. Things like RWBY would also apply, strictly made in the West. It doesn't matter to me.

I dunno. The closest point of reference I have is X-Files, but X-Files was enjoyable because it had very good writers who made its character cast likeable, which is a harder thing to do. I think the vibe is the most important bit, and above all else, with anime so far, the one thing I dislike in vibes the most is sheer ridiculousness. Even for the sake of comedy, I find it to be annoying to break the tone otherwise for a character to do something stupid for comedic effect. Your suggestion gives me the impression this may be the case, but I don't know that. The concept itself doesn't allure or repel me.

Eh, then you might not like DanDaDan. It's a bit more wacky, and a lot of the comedy can be off-the-wall.

I agree that Frieren dialogues aren't something really creative but what really makes me enjoy it is the overall vibe of it. It is an anime about things happening, life going on. It feels fresh. The whole anime is the equivalent of standing in a field of grass and having the spring breeze blow in your direction. I think that is the point of the anime as a whole, it is a series that places you in a magical world and instead of having you fall into the pit of chaos that they usually are, they have you observe a world that has already finished its main story, the world where you aren't constantly fighting monsters, a world that lets you just relax for a moment.

I don't have words that can describe this anime properly because I can't give a specific reason as to why I think its good. So I'll just say, the vibes are too good for the anime to be bad.

well. The anime I've really liked up to this point, in descending order from "fantastic" to "reasonably enjoyable":

• Neon Genesis Evangelion
• Death Note
• Overlord
• Mekakucity Actors
• Hellsing

I tend to prefer darker plot elements, and a more serious tone. That said, I believe there's a balance to be achieved, and dislike things that are overly edgy for the sake of it. I prefer things to be thought out and well written, and focused enough on the plot. I've already mentioned things I found distasteful about Frieren, so avoiding all of that is good, too. I'm also a fantasy guy over all else, so fantasy begins with some points in the hopper.

To completely upset all of that, I've entertained for the past few years enjoying a slice of life or more dramatic anime. I didn't dislike the ones my sister tried to show me when I was young, although I don't know if that'd hold up these days.

I dislike shonen and all that, so anything related to shonen isn't strictly a "no" but I will probably like it a lot less than the average viewer.

Tbh I'd probably change my recommendation to Monster. I have genuinely never been so enthralled and interested in the story of an anime since watching Death Note, and that's saying something because its probably my second or third favorite of all time (Berserk still takes the cake rn). Not done with it yet, but from what I've heard, it doesn't let up the steam as far as writing throughout the series.

Super underrated.

Don't remember if I've recommended it before but if you like dark stuff that isn't shonen then 91 days could be your thing - it is a prohibition era mafia revenge story. Worth it in my opinion.

Highschool Dxd. Got about 48 episodes and a total of 4 seasons. They're all adapted for a very extensive light novel series. Decent plot and characters. Though, many watch for... other reasons.

The dub was kind of funny as hell. You can ignore most of the stuff and just laugh at it. Its comedy is on a god-tier level, like Ghost Stories. The fights are good too, and the characters are amazing.

That's what I've got to say since my favorite thing is a harem ending, and the main character's dream is to be a harem king.

My recommendation is "Trinity Seven." I would love to recommend the manga since anime adaptations often skip a lot of details. Even though the manga itself doesn't explain small detail, that's what I love about it. It is a great recommendation if you want something with a lot of depth. It has a complex setting and a fascinating power system, free from the typical elemental systems like fire , water etc, which are just not cool to me. The story is engaging, the characters are well-developed, and the fights are exciting. The art is also fantastic. There are just so many elements to enjoy. Right now, it is the strongest manga out there. I can't wait until it surpasses all those light novels, visual novels, and other similar works. It's truly a standout in its category!
Also, unlike most animes that use emotions for power and such, this anime uses intellect.

If this is only about the anime recommendation, then the anime is a fun watch. The fights, characters, and comedy are great. While it's not on the level of the manga, it is good in its own way. Also, this has 8 main characters.

I just love harem endings, whether they have ecchi and such or not. So, an anime having ecchi without a harem ending does not interest me; I will not care for it.
