Guess what? People are going to gripe about the staff being incompetent no matter which thread it's on.
You're monitoring which thread they do it in, and not monitoring their behavior in general.
Even if you close it, they'll just migrate and do it on a different one.

And we can clearly see you started it by messaging me out of nowhere to show that to me.
 
I'm not saying I was being mature. There's not much point being mature, given the fact that when I have approached you in such a way, you turn around and... continue acting horribly. I'm pointing out that when you say you apologized, you did not. It is my experience over the past week or two that to get a half-hearted apology, I would need to reach out first. I would like bad blood to be avoided, but I have been denied this.

If it does get down to a "three strikes" system in regards to issues surrounding Monke, I believe we're well past that, unless the proposal is to start counting now.
 
Just posting my two sense

Regardless of intentions shitposting about certain users is a very sensitive balance
Not every user is going to interpret your slander against them as completely harmless; It's subjective from person to person

And on the other side of the coin some users hide behind the shield of irony in order to post real hateful banter of another user (Usually Staff)
This quickly escalates as other users usually pile on with more insults and banter that may or may not have the intent to demean

And lets face it, all the thread has been the past few weeks is arguments between staff and other users with no actual "Slander" being posted anymore

It's devolved into thinly veiled personal attacks towards mainly staff

In my personal opinion it would be best to initiate a ban on these types of threads

Your posts that you're currently being scrutinized for were from today, man, Agnaa already pointed this out. It isn't past drama if you refuse to move past it and keep using it as fuel for hate.

You hate my ass, cool. You hate Dread and Crab and Deagon and probably two dozen other mfs, fine. You shit talk them on Discord, that's your right. The point is that on the site, we have rules about this, rules you have been allowed to skate past for weeks now without taking a damn hint. And now, beacon of maturity that you are, you refuse to take responsibility for this shit when it would be such a simple matter to say "I was wrong, I ****** up, I was just angry, I'm sorry", and to just... actually move on.

Good luck out there, man. I really hoped it wouldn't come to this.

The fact this keeps repeatedly happening seems to be that you apologize only to avoid getting strikes
 
Your post defending yourself was to subvert the current issue and bring Dread back into the spotlight, which is unnecessary, and was lying about the same things tackled elsewhere, which is very silly. If you can compose yourself like an adult, you will be treated like one.

@Maverick_Zero_X If you're pulling the trigger on a ban, I think it ought to be a mid-length one. You're free to read the replies he's attempting to post, I don't think he particularly cares and has continued to firebrand here on the RVR. Gut instinct says 3-6 months.
 
It's not "stuff you were already warned for", it's bringing up those warnings in light of behaviour you have continued doing to this day.

And I do find it troubling that you have neglected to post evidence of you apologizing to Bambu, after he's said that you didn't, and showed screenshots of you insulting him further in DMs.

In light of that, I can only deduce that you lied about having apologized; which is, again, bad behaviour that you have committed today.

Bambu blatantly insulted me as well, and I've shown evidence of him doing so, but alright.
Just ban me and get it over with, I don't really care.

Ideally he wouldn't have gotten that hostile, but given the context of y'all having insulted him over Discord beforehand, I can't get too upset at that.

That one minor instance is not comparable to your case.

The context to that one was Monke implying I had been in favor of keeping pornographic verses on the wiki, whereas in truth I was one of the ones pushing for their deletion. The second post was after I learned about the conspiracy to demote me for deleting spam posts on the Logan Paul thread.

Monke is referring to Discord, where I indeed referred to him as a "*******" on the second or third arc of "Monke fake-apologizes and then goes back to spreading lies". I can happily show the entire message history if desired but our rules offsite don't cover rudeness. Monke is either confused or deliberately not understanding, though: he claimed to have apologized in private, offsite messages show this is not the case. No rules were broken when he repeatedly referred to me as a douche offsite- this is not the crux of the issue.

Show me someone else who was warned 2+ times for insulting others in the past month, who continued to do so, and I'll ask for them to be banned too.

Can you offer your thoughts about potentially closing that thread? I read through a few pages of it, and my personal assessment is that it teeters to closely on the edge of just being an explicit venue for shit talking other members, pretty regularly oscillating away from harmless shitposting to "by the way we all really hate [x user who is not in on the joke such as me, Bambu, Dread, others].

I'm not trying to be the fun police, but this seems to be a bit of a problem.

I think what Random said is mostly true. The thread is intended to be in good fun and until recently was mostly directed towards people already taking part in the thread, which in my eyes constitutes a social contract of sorts.

However it is apparent that those sorts of threads attract more negative sorts out to use them as conduits of hate and malice.

I think Mav is right to close that particular thread, drenched in malevolence as it is, but I think that type of thread ought to remain, for now. We should keep an eye on them and if it becomes a repeating trend, then at that point maybe we just have to be unfunny clowns and close down shop.
 
I think the recent initiative to more closely track RVR trolls is indicative of taking some good steps in the right direction.

To be frank, we have a bit of a problem with members who are basically constantly hovering at a just-barely-not-report-worthy level of snarky, rude, etc.

My hope is that we will continue to make more steps in that direction, not to the extent of "tone-policing" but more "you aren't going to be allowed to be a low-intensity jerk indefinitely until one day you slip up bad enough to be reported." And take a more proactive approach in fostering a more productive and polite atmosphere by removing some of the folk that are constantly poisoning the well.
 
This is just a note that I personally consider ImmortalDread to have been continuously extremely helpful to me and our staff with getting important tasks done, and I have personally recurrently asked her to provide competent help in this regard, even though she lacks a bit of common sense regarding when she should or should not make an effort to be helpful, including in this RVR thread.

Among other things, I have personally tried to get her promoted to a content moderator position, but given that there were too many staff members that disagreed, it seems like she has to exercise greater self-control regarding when her help is genuinely needed and/or requested or not before her promotion can be accepted.

Also, she has been quite extensively bullied off-site by other members of this community who have been intolerant regarding her personality quirks, which is not acceptable.
 
Regarding MonkeMan, I personally have mostly good experiences of him, but he only received a 1 month warning block.

I also think Ravee helped to financially support our site to exist in the past, so it is very unfortunate that this happened. Does anybody know if he is black or not? If he is, maybe we can cut his ban in half to 6 months?

That is not meaningfully relevant here. I understand the connection you're drawing, but it's inappropriate for anyone to use crude language on this forum, and they would have known that very well.

I'm not going to debate the semantics of who is/isn't allowed to say the n-word, or whether it is more/less acceptable for certain people to use it. On here, it is unacceptable for anyone to use it, and I don't believe Ravee was ignorant of this.
 
Anyway, I don't particularly care to comment on the Monke situation, but since I was one of the names mentioned, I feel it prudent to get my opinion out there.

If it was me alone the problem would never have made it to the RVR. I have a long history of taking and receiving shit from internet weirdos, and generally speaking I consider it a form of quality entertainment to lock horns in 0.5 IQ banter battles.

However, given that Monke tends to not limit that kind of behavior to me and his friends, I think this ban was for the best. He was extremely confrontational, the truth be told, and he would never leave an argument end without having the last word. This of course could easily, and did easily, end up in posts that very much break the rules. And unlike the cases with myself, I can't just turn a blind eye to those directed at other people. That's not to even speak of his behavior shifting even after an apology straight back to Aggression City.

I don't think any of this behavior is born out of genuine malice, just immaturity. He seems very young, and I'd wager this is just wanting to look cool on the internoots. It would explain how stand-offish and aloof he wants to be perceived as.

It almost makes me want to argue for a longer block. Not because I think his actions are particularly bad, but mostly for the fact that some more time off to grow up would do him good. Goodness knows getting our asses yeeted for extended periods did wonders for Bambu and me, back in the day.

That's all I gotta say on the matter.
