No it only takes chakra cause Boruto decided to change the whole swallow up oceans thing.

Chakra has become the catch-all term for all energy in the verse.

And this would be an incomplete assessment from Amado, as we know the Shinju absorbs natural energy too. We saw that with the Juubi in the war.

Why do Naruto and Gaara not have Social Influencing added to their profiles? Naruto has his infamous talk no jutsu which has directly impacted the outcomes of his battles. Gaara also influenced the shinobi with his speech before the ninja war started.

Boruto has a new chief director Noriyuki abe, for those curious his most well known for being the director of Yu Yu hakuso and Bleach, and has directed every Bleach movie.

he only took over at episode 282. his known for his darker tone so it's possible the anime's tone might end up changing

Sasuke tells Naruto to get serious so Naruto uses the Kurama avatar, he could have at least actually used the boil release.

Would have added boil release for Naruto, Deva path for Sasuke. They wouldnt have beaten Jigen or Isshiki, but they were worth a try

I dont think the fights were as bad as people say, though

It was horrible writing wise.
What would you have changed? On top of what I said, I would add more shadow clones for Naruto, which the anime delivered

Edit: Also, Sasuke wouldn’t have used Ame no tejikara to end up being choked by Isshiki, but simply appeared in front of him and attacked him, like when he saved Boruto in a similar situation

I would let them use their battle iq since it's apparent that they didn't use it at all. They had no reason to transform into their megazords when they know they were fighting someone who could shilrink himself.

A potential reason for that would be so they would be protected after Jigen powered up. That didnt work but they didnt expect Jigens strength

Plus, their megazords can hit a wide area with tails or sweeping strikes, Jigen was just too fast

Do you think Jigen has no battle iq?
He's not some dense brick like Kaguya

there isnt much naruto and sasuke could have done. i think the issue is people wanted them to showcase old abilities even if it didnt work.
The fact that characters (not just Naruto and Sasuke in this instance, but in general) are faced with an opponent that "they cannot possibly defeat" without trying literally anything and everything in their arsenal gives the implication that they didn't use such techniques because they would have gone counter to the narrative about the villain never losing. Take Infinity War and Endgame, for example: we're expected to believe that the way it played out was the only way they could have won, even though I could think of several ways to pack Thanos up in Infinity War.

At least Infinity war tried to justify their bullshit with Strange's precog , saying that there is only one possibility where they win.

Boruto didn't even bother and that's even lamer. Characther don't use or even mention shit we know they have and we have zero justifications as to why. They just "Kinda Forgot"

They could have made it so Naruto and sasuke truly used everything in their arsenal and still got their asses beat easily, especially raw power stuff like ashura avatar and boil release.

Black Adam handled the "it was the only way" thing way better than both Infinity War and Boruto.

I don't give a shit who did it better, that's not the point.

Whataboutism won't save the fact that jigen fights were garbage compared to what we could have gotten.

I know, I just ended up on the topic of "it was the only way/there was no other option" scenes.

And how else could they have won?

MCU pre phase 4 was also about not making choices leading to a Kang varient. Any other 'winning' choices would have the possibility of resetting their universe.

Boruto on the other hand is actual trash since we have seen Naruto and Sasuke use jutsu before that can clap jigen/isshiki, yet were completely forgotten. Boruto wastes entire chapters where characters just talk about the same things or go shopping. It doesn't take much to show how ineffective Naruto/Sasuke's justu are or outright have them state they can't use them anymore.

They wouldn't clap Jigen. There are maybe ways they could win, but they moreso involve outlasting than really defeating him. And Isshiki just slams them pretty much no matter what.

What jutsu are you even talking about? Let me remind you that Jigen/Isshiki has chakra absorption, and that renders basically every chakra-based attacks useless, and would just serve to strengthen Jigen/Isshiki further. Given that he's factually superior to the both of them, he could no doubt absorb their most destructive techniques. That's primarily why they decide to use hand-to-hand combat.

While Boruto is subpar comparatively to its predecessor, the logic and direction it's using isn't as incompetent as you'd think.

Thats why I said I would have added Deva path for Sasuke and Boil release for Naruto. Deva path cant be absorbed or shrunk because its an invisible force, and Boil release would increased Naruto's hand-to-hand capabilities. So, it made sense to try those techniques. Still, Isshiki wouldnt be beaten by either of those. Boil release attacks could be avoided by shrinking, and even if he were to be hit, Jigen/Isshiki wouldnt take severe damage based on his other feats. Chibaku tensei could not contain him and he would escape it with his portals. Shinra tensei would probably do some good damage if it hit him, but not enough to put him down.

Its far from being the only Naruto/Boruto fight where the characters dont use their abilities most effectively, though. I agree that its not as bad as people say, its just somewhat underwhelming and could have been more of a spectacle and creative.

This means Kouda can go back to directing episodes? Holy Win 😭

I wouldn't say they were nerfed, Naruto and Sasuke definitely had jutsu that could have beaten Jigen, But by that point, the series had already established they were rusty.

Sasuke is still very observant but is far less creative with his Jutsu. Tricking opponents with Genjutsu and layered plans are things he doesn't often do anymore. being stronger than practically everyone on the planet for more than half his life probably doesn't help with him staying sharp.

And Naruto is pretty much just completely reliant on Kurama and Sasuke for analysis and strategy at this point. The same Naruto that was known for being surprisingly perceptive and unpredictable in fights doesn't exist anymore. He sits behind a desk all day and hasn't had to be the underdog that uses any means necessary to survive in a while.

Plus the Jigen fight was kind of random like they did not know what they were getting into and got folded.

IMO they could have won using some kind of Izanami, sealing, or soul steal hax but they were just not prepared for Jigen to be as strong as he was. I don't think they were getting any of that BS off on Isshiki tho.

It was also a bit of just lousy writing(I have no idea why even a rusty Sasuke would think using his perfect Susanoo against a shrinking man was a good move.)

small rant over.
