Elden Ring General Discussion

So nobody is going to talk about the new haxxy stuff from Elden Ring? Because there's a lot to highlight.

I'm going to put all in spoiler so don't worry for that.

For example, before the game was released a twit from the oficial page stated that both sorcery and incantations are forces that shaped the world, which could be Conceptual Manipulation and some form of RW afaik. That also makes sense with the lore of the game, in which the stars has power over fate and all that stuff.

Speaking of concepts, the Elden Ring itself is a metaphysical abstraction of the Erdtree, and from what we see, it has power over reality and many of the concepts/laws that are within it (that being each Great Rune). That can also give to the Tarnished neat resistances, as they can use the Great Runes without being corrupted by that power (something that happened to basically all the Demigods).

The Golden Order is the logic of the world, controlling several laws of reality as stated in many incantations (like the law of regression and causality).

About that, incantations themselves can negate type 1, 5 and 7 Immortalities, as they impose the logic of death to those who live beyond that. This also working in skeletons and others undead, that have transcended death itself.

The Tarnished can potentially have type 5 Immortality (also 4 because his blessing from the Lost Grace), as they are said to be "ye dead who yet live."

Death itself seems to be an occult and abstract idea, being stated to be beyond the field of the Erdtree.

Many sorceries seems to be capable of warping space around, specially the Eternal Darkness (which is also stated to be a manifestation of the despair and inevitable fate of the Eternal City). We have also the gravitational magic creating portals.

And about gravity, this seems to be related with the void. For example Meteorite of Astel spell, which it's said to summon meteorites from the void itself.

A lot of spells and incantations uses the power of ideas like vengeance and stuff like that, so that's also interesting too.

Life also has some neat stuff too. It has a direct relationship with the Erdtree and the Elden Ring, and, for example, the Crucible Knights' armor holds the power primordial life.

And for now I think that's all, although there could be more other stuff here.

Also, Astel destroying a starry sky couldn't give him MFTL speed or something like that?
Yeah, they're Haxxed as ****.

So I have a genuine question regarding the Summons in the upcoming VS Threads the Tarnished will get in the future. How are we gonna handle that since it requires an outside source for the Summons to even function? Also, are we gonna treat the fact that you can only have one Summon per fight as Game Mechanics or as an actual weakness since the Tarnished can't summon multiple Summons per battle but Bosses like Commander O'Neal can?

I think it's mostly an in-game limitation. So far I don't see that the pillars for summoning have a concrete explanation in-verse, and as we can see many characters can summon anywhere they want (for example, Rennala and O'neil).

Game mechanics can also be used for scaling. If the Tarnished can't summon more than one summon at a time, then we list that.

No, he can literally only summon once per area since even if the summon dies, you can't bring it back or summon a new one even with a Max FP Bar until you reset the area or die which then resets the area anyway.

Things like Ashen Remains would probably be one summon at a time.

Actual like, co-op summoning shit though? No idea, that's ******* weird.

Wouldn't be respawn, you can summon and desummon multiple times without ever toughing a grace, I just went and cleaned up Liurnia and summoned the Mimic like two dozens times without ever having rested.

So probably literally just one at a time, you can desummon and switch to a new summon, but only one summon at any given time, unless they die. In which you can't resummon.

I see. Weird since bosses that can summon don't have that limitation, they can just spawn a new summon after the previous one died so would that still be a Game Mechanic or just a weakness on the Tarnished's side of things?

Might just depend, we'll need to look at the l o r e of how these summons actually work.
Though there's still always the mana/health issue so it ain't like he'd have infinite summons even best case scenario.

I'm aware, I'm just kind of Disappointed that you can't make the argument that the Tarnished is basically just Kabuto with his Edo Tensei army. Though to be fair, you can get a pretty ******* massive MP Bar in this game so the amount of summons at your disposal without even taking the Cerulean Flask into consideration is pretty absurd, especially considering that some of these summons are straight up bosses from earlier in the game that you can upgrade to stay relevant to yourself as if they're equipment you're weilding yourself.

2-B Elden Ring for the other worlds lezsgoooooo
If the Elden Ring is responsible for the existence of the other worlds then sure. Tbh should be the case for Dark Souls since The First Flame fractures the timeline whenever it nears extinguishing. Also for both if they were to be Tier 2 based on the multiple worlds, it would likely be At least 2-C (based on player character and NPCs known to have their own worlds), likely 2-B (based on previous plus accounting for full playerbase and all their characters), possibly 2-A (assuming infinite variants)

So I found an interesting tidbit of information. The Ash Summons are only usable if they willingly allow you to summon them because the Stormhawk King Ashes are a Key Item that specifically states that it refuses to be summoned by just anyone.

Chad Mode. It's the roughest start cuz no armor, no stats to excel in, and club has shitty range with mid attack speed, but the diversity of builds you can viably make is well worth it, along with starting at level one making the early game less grindy since you level faster

I start with base 10 stats for everything so I never have to level up to get the bare minimum requirement for certain weapons, yeah.

Also the naked start for every souls game isn't the hardest, it's actually quite easy if you know how to dodge roll. Club does big big damage despite its looks.

I beat the game yesterday and I noted some feats.
  • Elden Beast creates a literal universe to fight you. It also creates attacks that seems to be nebulae with exploding stars.
  • Tons and tons of spells that are said to be stars.
  • Radahn's feat is said by Sellia to be a "constellation". I don't think meteors fit that.
  • Rennala straight up creates a starry sky.
  • Ranni also creates a starry sky in her ending and also the moon.
3-A EoG Tarnished, 4-A Radahn and Malenia, holy shit.
