The "he took damage" is from Boros's POV.
No, Saitama wasn't knocked out, he literally took a beating from MB Boros (FAR stronger) with no damage, Released Boros isn't gonna knock him out, he also deflected Boros's strongest attack which uses all of his life energy, and Boros noticed that Saitama wasn't trying (here too)

You can't proof a statement from the literal cover is a statement from Boros. The cover isn't a POV from anyone, it just lets us known Saitama took damage. IIRC in a guidebook a statement similar to this was made
He was knocked out, he later took an attack WHICH HE BLOCKED, and we don't know if he took damage or not. He even says this is a real fight. He deflected his attack only after getting serious, hell saitama even gets surprised when he hears that it was gonna surface wipe the planet, and decides he needs to get serious to stop it. Boros says he was holding back, nothing about not trying

It's in the context, also Saitama was no selling MB like others mentioned, why would released damage him when the others couldn't?

1-Saitama can try harder. That punch made him spit out blood.
2- He punched in different parts of Boros' body so the damage doesn't add up.
3- If Released Boros can knockout Saitama and MB is leagues above Released, then Meteoric Burst should be able to overcome Saitama's durability with ease or Saitama (having destroyed MB) should be a glass cannon, which is literally impossible due to his physiology.
