Hello! I have a question but Ergen novels, specifically the Cultivation general abilities page. At one point, the resistances just state "All prior and current abilities", and I was wondering why that is? I'm indexing a Cultivation novel as well, and it was shown that higher realm cultivators are unfathomably above lower realmed one, with them resisting the abilities of lower ones. As such, I was wondering if it was normal to have them resist all current and prior abilities as well (Layering was already accepted)?

Additionally, if it's a yes, would the resistances extend to abilities that are not general, but are still of lower realms? There were statements of strong curses, and they were powerful because they ignored realms/levels (Extremely powerful and one of a kind), with no ability having such statement.

Thanks for answering! I still have a few more questions, if you don't mind (first time indexing a Xianxia novel). From what I'm seeing, each realm supposedly has 10 levels, though I checked ISSTH wiki, and Foundation Establishment was only like, 5-6 levels. Is the reason it is 10 levels as well is because of different Ergen series having 10 levels at the 2nd realm, or is it something else?

I'm asking because of the series I'm reading, with it stating that there is a huge difference between like 8th realm and 9th realm, as big as the difference from 1st realm to 8th realm, and was wondering if those qualify for extra layering? Not to mention there are other Worlds who have 10 levels in second realm compared to the main world, would that also qualify to assume 2nd realm in general have 10 levels?

Additionally, what about abilities that only work on those with lower cultivation realm, and is useless against those of higher realms? As in, an explicit statement stating that Power Null can't work against character stronger than them, would that qualify for General Abilities? Or if a character stated that, with all of their ability, their Battle Strength only reached 6th realm, and 7th realm ones would slaughter them, would that be enough to assume 7th realm cultivators have resistance to all the character's abilities at that point, or is it a stretch?

Foundation Establishment in ISSTH actually has 10 levels. The reason it is 6 levels in early ISSTH is later revealed to be due to Ji Tian meddling with the Heavens of the Ninth Mountain and Sea Realm.

The second paragraph is a very common concept (even Ergenverse has it) but I've never really applied it to hax so I wouldn't know.

For the third case, there's a direct instance of a cultivator who is physically more powerful having their Qi nulled due to their opponent having higher cultivation in Ergenverse (i.e. Bai Xiaochun's first mission). Do you have any similar things?

Oh, that's kinda similar to my case. Between 9th and 10th realm, there can be thousands of great realms, but due to Grand Dao imposing rules, all of them would just be below 10th realm, even if massively superior to 9th realm.

For PNull? Solely due to higher cultivation, I don't think so, no. Mostly because the MC kinda has ridiculously strong Body compared to other cultivators, with it being stronger than even those at higher realms, though he never uses it against those cultivators, or those equal to him in realm, since it was stated it didn't work on those stronger or equal to him (even though he's physically more powerful than them in cases I mentioned above). Additionally, the power could be learned (as it is a thing that many cultivators could get, but requires many things to do). Additionally, I recall statement where "strength" didn't just mean physical strength, but that, mind, soul strength, cultivation level, etc...

That said, there was a statement of an 8th realm (the realm where domains appear) cultivators being able to butcher millions of 7th realm cultivators (This is the realm where they can use Laws), with it being stated it was due to their domain, and that they can negate the powers solely due to their domain, with it being 100x more severe against cultivators who cultivate the same Dao.

I do also have instances where higher realmed cultivators didn't get affected by paralysis of mind and soul due to them having a higher form of Qi granted by being higher realmed. There are also instances where characters at the same realm, with one character being close to a single level higher, having be unaffected by spiritual attacks due to having a stronger soul (said realm is the realm where they train specifically on soul/mind).

The layering stuff is already accepted, but I was wondering if it was possible to extend it to abilities of specific cultivators on lower realms. Mostly because one of the strongest things was a Curse, and it was said to be powerful specifically due to it ignoring levels/realms, with this being the only ability mentioned to ignore levels, with any other ability being stated to only work till like, 6th realm (ie their Battle strength was at 6th realm, and cannot win against 7th realm cultivators).

They transcended the physical universe and all of its space-times, but the narrative layer is a little more complicated because the stories are considered metafiction rather than R/F. However, cosmology is still subject to change, so what I am saying may not be entirely accurate.
