After 7 months and 248 episodes of torture, I have returned from Heck to spread to all of you heathens the word of our purple dinosaur overlord.
That's right bois, Barney revision/implementation 2.0: for real this time.
This thread will not be tackling the actual Barney profile itself, as that has already been taken care of by me and a few others, and is ready for posting as soon as this debacle is over. This thread will instead be used to address the primary concern of the previous two threads on this subject, namely: the legitimacy of Barney as an actual, tangible character.
The Problem
It seems that the main point of contention that everyone had last time was: "Barney is just the product of children's imagination, he doesn't actually exist in his own world and therefore all his feats are also figments of said imagination".
Now, I could very well just point to the many characters listed here who are just dreams/figments of the imagination/other things of such nature, how they're allowed, how it's double standards to prevent Barney because of it, and just be done with it.
Instead, I will go through several instances that prove without a shadow of a doubt that the big purple dinosaur man is as real as the kids that supposedly made him up.
Why you should all be True Barn-lievers
Now, the general consensus of a few people seemed to be that when Barney turns back into his doll, the "imagination" segment of the episodes ends and all that's left is the "real world". Here's the thing about that though: Barney outright leaves behind items even after he's turned back into the doll, supposedly ending the "imagination" segment.
One such case happens in this episode: Barney is captured in a photograph. Later, when he reverts to his doll form, they still possess the same photograph, even though it should have disappeared by now if Barney was merely a figment of the imagination.
Furthermore, Barney is supposed to only be dreamt by kids. Then how is it that adults can interact with him completely fine? And I know what you might be thinking: "they're just playing along". That's the thing, they could be, but they're so natural and talk so easily in character that it's basically impossible for them to be doing that. Are we really going to believe every single adult would speak so naturally as if he was really there if he was just an imaginary friend?
But alas, all of these points pale in comparison to what I've seen in the final season of the series. Since you can consider this my final trial, I suppose I was rewarded somewhat via this making the thread that much easier to post. Y'see, the theme of the final season is traveling to different parts of the world. And Barney obviously also takes whatever kids he's watching that day with him. Now, why is this irrefutable evidence of a real, tangible existence? Because the kids display the knowledge they've earned from traveling to these places after Barney has turned back into the doll.
Not only that, but these kids frequently even meet their own distant relatives or family friends in these countries, some without even having prior knowledge of said people. Like a girl who is taken to Venezuela only to meet an old friend of her grandfather who she literally didn't figure out was one until near the end of the episode.
All of these things are undeniable proof that Barney and his abilities absolutely, 100% exist as real things in this verse. Or the kids are all mental asylum patients.
Conclusion
Hide yo kids, hide yo wives, cause the true god-king of shitty kids' programming is back baby.
