All statistics are equal for the purpose of this thread ("My infinity is bigger than yours" doesn't matter here) . Also, all abilities unrelated to sword skills are not accounted for.

1) Abilities granted by a sword like Akame (character)'s poison are not allowed.

2)Things like Precognition and Information Analysis are actually allowed, as long as they're via intelligence/skill and not a supernatural ability.

3) No "Transcending Skill"

This is find the 10 best swordsmen on the wiki.

Strongest Swordsme

1. Khorne (Possibly Lower) | Oryx, the Taken King

2. Juuzou Shishimi (Possibly Higher) | Assassin (Fate/stay night)

3. Yasuo

4. |SCP-076

5. Drizzt Do'Urde | Sion Zail | Tactimo

6. Character's from Katanagatari

7. Musashi Miyamoto (Baki) | Protagonist (Mysteries of Baroque) | Reinhard van Astrea

8. Darth Sidious

9. The Operator

10. Composite Human (Possibly Lower) | Characters from Rurouni Kenshi

Actually, maybe I should have two categories...

One where abilities granted by a sword aren't allowed and another where they are allowed.

Assassin (Fate/stay night) and Yasuo should be somewhere on this list, presumably fairly high seeing as they both have the ability to use magic through sheer sword skill despite not actually having the ability to use magic themselves

I'll put them all in the 1 spot for now until peeps decide who's better in sword skills.

Muzan? He lived in a world where war was an everyday thing and killed everyone under the reing of Mithra (I think that's her name).

I'd argue the likes of Tactimon would be high up due to his at least 1000s of years of experience and with skill matching the Royal Knights who have 10,000+ years of fighting highly skilled and varied opponents like the SGDL and various other Digimon along with training their abilities.

To quote his intellect section.

"Tactimon is considered to be one of the greatest commanders and tacticians amongst Digimon, so much so that it is thought that even the largest-scale battles are already decided when Tactimon is at the helm, even when compared to the Royal Knights' tactician Leopardmon. He is also incredibly skilled with a blade, being able to match experienced swordsmen like Omegamon and Ulforceveedramon on even ground and easily overwhelmed Team Xros Heart in their first encounter. It is noted by official sources that his ingenuity is so amazing, that he wins battles even before the battle begins."

Composite Human

With stats equal and most powers removed, we're left with a swordfighter who

A. Invented Swords

B. Invented the idea of using swords to fight

C. Invented every form of swordplay

D. Lacks any morals or wishes for a fair fight

Also, Khorne apparently also uses a sword. And I quote, "Wields a sword that "glowed with the heat of the dying universes in which it had been forged", which can split existence asunder with one strike."

So yeah, since Khorne embodies the very concept of fighting, he probably would be slightly more skilled than CH in swordplay. However, due to Khorne's nature when it comes to justice (And not having his powernull here), Human might beat him out with dirty tactics.

Reposting what i said before about Reinhard on the other thread:

Naturally talented so he can quickly learn things he was previously inexperienced in.

Swords Saints all have their swordsmanship maxed out making them the most skilled swordmen in the world, not to mention have heightened battle instincts which are heightened to perfection, so regardless of whether it's a sword, spear or axe, as long as it's connected to battle, they know all the perfections and imperfections of a weapon.

This is to the point that to them even the greatest warriors in the country, only seem to have flaws in their fighting styles, not to mention no matter how much they train they can't get rid of all the flaws, which is the gap between a Sword Saint and everyone else.

Reinhard>every other Sword Saint before him. Wilhelm van Astrea who eventually out-skilled Thearesia van Astrea who is a Sword Saint, stated that there is basically an absolute gap between Reinhard and everyone else, while Wilhelm is quite frankly a freak of nature who through dedication and hardwork overtook and out-skilled Thearesia, there is absolutely no way he could do the same to Reinhard, as Reinhard is so far beyond him that it shouldn't even be debated whether or not he could be matched.

another skill thread, we all know what that means

Though I do believe the assassin isn't all that skilled. I mean it's like 1 technique that has a weird description and that's it.

Added mentioned names to the list, now we just have to discuss their placements...

Is this "strongest" or "most skilled"?
Basically, who is there strongest pure sword wielder.

As in.

Who would win in a stat equal fight without the use of things other than pure skill.

Musashi for 1st or 2nd spot. He developed a technique that allows him to cut people withouth even using his real swords.

  • Sword Simulation- Is so skilled at sword fighting, he doesn't need to use an actual sword to 'cut' people. While the cut itself is not real, it can still paralyze and cause immense pain to the other characters, only with Yujiro being excluded, as he may be more powerful than Musashi. Doesn't even need to move his hands to be able to 'abstractly cut'. In his fight against Yujiro, Musashi was even able to cause physical wounds with his abstract swords, though such feat is never performed again.

I'm shocked nobodies mentioned Gilgamesh yet since he's skilled with multiple types of weapons and swords and has also fought against multiple skilled warriors from different universes

Yeah, we here aren't too good discussing about skill, generally confusing speed, AP and experience with skill.

Honestly, skill debated are like...so hard to do. This really shouldn't be a ranking, just a big list. But can we all agree that having all these guys fight on skill alone in a battle royale would be a badass fight to watch?
Is that honestly a question? Sword fights are normally badass in anime, imagine a sword fight between the best swordsmen of all fiction. Like dude I'd willingly pay to see that.

I doubt he'll be there what with the "Thousands of years of experience" contenders, but still feel like talking about why I felt like saying "King Bradley" if nothing else.

He was born for the specific purpose of becoming an Homunculus/Wrath and the leader of the country. Got injected with a stone containing thousands of wrathful souls. Was the only one to not die instantly from that process -- because he, being a "normal" human (by the verse's standards), fought and killed every single other wrathful soul to the last remaining one within himself (which is why unlike the other homunculus he has no regen - as that comes from burning up souls).

Spends most of his series trouncing pretty much everyone - other Homunculus with regen and skills like Greed's ultimate shield which are a hard counter to swords included - on swordsman skills alone.

Is very old and *well* past his prime by the time the series happens, still takes a train wreck (which he sees the trajectory of debris falling and uses it to jump back from safety from one to another), a tank (which he destroys with ease), an army of people with guns that he casually deals with, then he fights another homunculus (Greed with the Ultimate Shield) who had another soul giving intel on his fighting style.

Fight continues, another old but skilled guy joins while a third man (Buccaneer) uses a half-suicidal tactic to take his sword away (when Bradley stabs him, his abs trap the sword).

Bradley takes a pair of knive from a random soldier and still is winning, gets the sword his own opponent was using, borderline kills him while trapping Greed. Guy nearly ded jumps at him on a suicidal move but he actually cuts the bombs in a line before they explode making it a senseless sacrifice... Until the guy he thought dead uses that blind spot + momentum to stab him through the guy who just died.

Then he gets his ultimate eye pierced and his sword broken, still borderline overcomes the other homunculus (who has ultimate shield and regen) on skill alone, but both fall, he gets shot and falls deep to the water. Still finds his way to the protags, very easily kicks Mustang's teeth (who until now had just come back from fodderizing local aberration Envy).

Some more stuff happens and now bleeding and even more wounded he fights Scar. After a prolonged battle (and him getting pierced by several stone spikes out of imagining Alchemy was 100% out of Scar's moral compass to have or use)... The two fight to the death and Bradley would *STILL* win, if not for the actual Eclipse in the sky shining light right at his blade and reflecting it back on his face conveniently at the best possible moment in just the right way for him to be blinded and Scar to take that chance to use Destruction on his face.

Then the already nearly dead bradley gets his entire body affected and loses both arms as well as his weapon being broken.

What does he do? He grabs the part of the sword still spinning in the air with his teeth and amidst his pain of death pierces Scar himself right in the stomach, pulling a draw anyways.

For his verse's standards, the man with his human skills and 0 regening was somehow more terrifying than any other homunculus.
