D&D does it all the time

An old mechanic is called "Disbelieve", which would cause illusions to disappear because you don't believe they are real. Your character whole-heartedly believed they didn't exist.

This led to people assuming everything was false, and thus in the minds of their character, everything they fought wasn't real because they would roll to disbelieve in everything.

Just because a concept is ubiquitous in Reality or Ficiton, doesn't mean that it isn't dumb or that it is good. Like Zach showed me the quote in Hitchhiker's Guide where someone disproved God's existence and it was singlehandedly the dumbest excerpt I have ever read from a legitimate work of fiction.
