Xianxia/Xuanhuan General Discussion: Junior, you dare?!

He's refering to the current ongoing novel of Ergen - Outside of Time or Beyond Time (depending on the translation website hosting it). While I've read less than 100 chapters of it, the MC (Xu Qing) of it appears in the last finished novel of Ergen (A World Worth Protecting) and Wang Lin called him fellow daoist so till the end of his novel (Outside of Time) he should reach at least the realm of cultivation from AWWP which likely is at least Step 9 if not 10 (If he left the Vast Expanse like the others MC)...currently Step 4 is 1-A on wiki so you can image that a beings of Step 9 are vastly superior...step 5, for example, makes them composite characters of the entire verse as they can use all Daos. So likely in OT/BT step 5+ will be explored more hopefully.

Also...within this novel Plot Manipulation appeared.

I heard someone else tell me about the story outside of time Ergen. The highest ability in this story is steps 12-13. The past story has an explanation for steps 1-5 only. And there is no explanation in steps 6-10 in the last 5 stories just ended.

Ohhh okay 👍

Bigger brained Chinamen, I have questions.

In these novels, there are often Mortal, Immortal and above realms (Celestial/God/Divine, whichever or other names).

Lets just use the first two, Mortal and Immortal.

If the Immortal realm views the Mortal realm as fiction and is a true blue 1-A.

Would any Immortal transferring their memories or experience to anyone below it disqualify it's 1-A scaling?

Best example of my question in a novel is Sage Monarch, but they had an item rather than brain stuff.

-----

Same question but different path, could a soul from the immortal world ever be able to go back into the mortal realm?

I think I would disqualify it, because what makes it 1-A is not the ability to know that everything is fiction at your level, but rather the ability to step outside that screen and see the whole thing as fiction.

Memories or experience isn't really a dimensioned or tangible thing so it shouldn't disqualify 1-A scaling.

Made a discussion thread for Lightning is the Only Way novel:

I really like this novel. The fights are pretty good, the characters are fantastic, and everything is just pretty good. Thankfully, this one is a novel that I'm almost close to finishing (chapter 1200+ or smth currently AND I have the entire pdf).

That said, this novel made me think about the AP of xianxia novels. Usually, characters go to a higher world where Qi is denser and materials are denser. As such, an attack that can only destroy a kilometer in the higher world could destroy 10000 kilometers in the lower world. How do we usually tackle this issue?

Peak. Have you read Sword God? Same author same verse

That just means durability of higher world is much much higher. I guess you could use toughest material to calc too (thanks deon).

Reading both right now. Currently only like 200 chapters into Sword God, while I'm 1100-1200+ chapters deep into LISTOW. They are eating my life away.

Is there anyway to scale this? Like, if we just go by the destruction of higher worlds and stuff (Since they barely compare it to lower worlds, but we can see the difference between attacks), their AP really wouldn't be that much. Hell, they'd be lower than destroying a middle world if we go purely off of the destruction of higher worlds.

Is there a thing where we can scale the attacks of higher worlds if we see direct comparison? Like 1 kilometer destroyed in a higher world has enough energy to destroy 100000 kilometers in a lower world? Like a multiplier or smth, or is that not allowed?

Creating a profile for a xianxia char alone isn't easy. I am only two keys in and I am already tired (I've been working on the sandbox for 6 - 7 months)
True. They got so many feats and add so many scans/references. Plus long explainations for abilities.

Did the previous MC show up
Also have you read AWWP
Cuz I have a question about that novel
I have read AWWP as well, but my memory about it is very limited. Honestly, I didn't like it. I had to read 1k+ chapters just for it to get decent. Though, it had a good ending.

As for MCs
it depends on what you mean. If you mean directly, where they actually do something, than I would say no. If not really directly, but more of implied cameos, than yes.

My current Daily/Weekly Library. I will arrange them in terms of how much I like the MCs:

1. I am in the chaotic world of demons and warriors, and I have become a martial arts God
  • The main character Han Zeng is one of the best I have witnessed in a while. He is up there in the top 5 for me alongside the MC of I'm a Courteous and Honorable Gentleman... and the MC from Ultimate Demon.
  • The cheat in this novel is also very good. It has actual serious consequences so the MC rarely uses it to its full potential which is not a bad thing. He can basically give up parts of himself (his body, emotions, soul, etc) in exchange for power. In the beginning he ignorantly sacrificed his sense of pain and emotion of fear for powerups but later he came to realize that they all have their uses. To recover the lost senses, he had to hunt and kill demons, ghosts, or creatures that were not only more powerful than him but also possessed supernatural powers related to those senses (pain, fear)
  • Overall, he is a very strong MC mentality-wise + one of the most strategic main characters. This novel also has a lot of planner-type villains so its always great to see the MC outsmart and outplay them at their own game.
  • Also, whether it was when he had given up his sense or fear or after regaining it, the MC is not a coward. Like you won't see him quaking in his boots no matter how strong the enemy is.
  • Finally, this novel also has a pretty solid side cast once the MC enters the demon slaying division. The MC's right hand man is pretty strong as well.

2. I have a magical tree
  • I like the worldbuilding and setting of this novel. The power system is also pretty intricate introducing 3 different paths of training: martial arts, cultivation, and deityhood. In terms of setting and power system, I would say it is better than the novel above and I do like the MC just not as much as the guy above, mostly cause this novel's MC is more "cautious" - basically a coward in some aspects.
  • I don't mind cautious MCs but this guy is basically a god/houses a god inside him + also a cultivator + martial artist. A good 60 to 70% of the time he is usually cautious for no reason especially with how few double cultivators are (martial arts + immortal cultivation). As for triple cultivators (martial arts + immortal cultivation + divinity) he is basically the only one.

3. As a father, I just want to watch you live
  • Top tier world building.
  • Top tier power system.
  • Top tier MC organization creation.
  • Top tier villains.
  • Only reason it is at 3rd is cause of one arc where the author decided to make a 5 year old kid the main villain. Plus while the MC kills all kind of organizations to protect his daughter, it does kind of feel hypocritical when he also kills "enemy" kids and then proceeds to complain about his enemies having no humanity for targeting his 5 year old daughter. Like you just killed someone else's 10 year old daughter so what are you crying about. If not for the hypocrisy I would honestly put this novel much higher in my all time favorites especially since the MC is one of the rare actually good husbands and fathers in these types of novels. There is no harem nonsense or anything like that. MC is devoted to his wife and his doesn't wander around.

4. Infected with the undead disease, he had to specialize in suicide Magic
  • This is basically an action novel from beginning to end. MC powers up from a regular mortal to a demigod in like 2 months.
  • He has the "Immortal Disease" where the soul is immortal but the body ages at like 20 times faster than normal people. At the start he has a lifespan of like 2 to 5 years. After the time limit, the body will basically dry up like wood and the person's soul will be trapped inside for eternity in basically an undead state. And some folks even collect these "Wooden Men" and keep them as ornaments.
  • MC obviously does not want such a fate so he specializes in forbidden arts and demonic techniques to cultivate as fast as possible so that the increase in lifespan can counteract the disease. Lucky for him the disease also comes with perks of super regeneration because of the whole "immortal" thing. Until at least before your lifespan dries out, you are basically unkillable.
  • The MC here is a very ruthless guy, starts out as a gangster, then joins the demon slaying organization. He is a more or less kill first, ask questions later kinda guy and he kills people for even looking at him the wrong way.

5. Pushing the Martial Arts: Starting from the Tiger Roaring Golden Bell
  • I already posted about this before.
  • I used to read it religiously but now not so much.
  • It kind of got stale after the MC moved to a new zone.

Longevity starts with eating monsters

Just from the title you know what this is about. I'm only on chapter 30 so far and I like it so far.

Realms
  • Yang Fire
  • Yin Talisman
  • Transformation Realm [Blood Transfusion, Marrow Cleansing, Cave Spirit]
  • Martial Saint
  • Seeing God

This is still a new work.

It also has a very interesting MC. I would say the MC is the very definition of a "cautious" tsundere.

First the MC acts very cautious and cowardly but this is a good thing since he always choose to eliminate his enemies with quickness to avoid any chance they plot against him. He will attack within the same day an enemy made a threat and he will go all out burning blood and everything to ensure maximum success of his assassinations.

As for the Tsundere aspect, MC likes to pretend that he only eliminates villains out of convenience or because they threatened him but deep down he is a guy that cares about people.
