X-Men Film Series General Discussion Thread

Jean's abilities so far from the Novelization, we should find some feats and statements for her mind hax
Mater Manipulation (Made matter a glob of primordial ylem. Can separate matter from molecular components to atoms, and from there to agglomerations of charms, quarks, muons and gluons), Deconstruction (Slashed across molecular bonds that gave objects their shape and definition, reducing them to their elemental components. Discorporated Professor X into less than atomic components, leaving nothing. She was discorporating the planet, stripping existence around her down to its primal component states), Transmutation (Can alter the shape, state and the very physical nature of matter. Can manipulate the states of existence so what is solid and opaque became utterly transparent, and utterly nonexistent after that), Quantum Manipulation, Reality Warping and possibly Dimensional Manipulation (Can shred the boundaries between states of reality and possibly even dimensions on a quantum level. Explored the subatomic quantum world or microverse within a raindrop), Spacial Manipulation (Created tears in the fabric of the universe), Density Manipulation (Can alter the density of matter), Life Manipulation (Infused a spark of life into wood so that it can grow into a tree), Light Manipulation (Can compose herself entirely of light. Can flare matter beyond incandescent, as bright as the Big Bang and brighter than any conceivable sun. Passively generated so much radiance that even sunglasses would be of little help), Radiation Manipulation (Passively bombarded Wolverine with lethal levels of radiation, who compared it to a thermonuclear blast), Black Hole Creation (Can compress matter until it transitions into a microsingularity), BFR (Can put a person into orbit with a thought)

We still don't calculate Jean destroying the world beyond the subatomic level, her creating a microsingularity and replicating the luminosity of the Big Bang. I don't know about Tier 3, but Tier 5/4 is very likely, but the most important is her OP hax
Btw, does someone know how to calculate any of these feats (world destruction, microsingularity, Big Bang)? We still need to decide a timeframe for her discorporating Earth

I guess it wouldn't be combat applicable, should it be included in her Base or Phoenix key?

Base imo. It stems from the PF but it still resurrects her even when she isn’t actively using the power. My question is how it fits with Logan ganking her at the end of the movie.

Due to the big differences between the movie and the novelization, is it possible that Jean could have two keys (Movie | Novelization)?
I know I'm late here, but basically, with novelizations that have heavy purple prose/extreme statements like this one, we wouldn't make a new profile (or key) but just limit what we use for the sake of consistency.

For example, Jean destroying stuff by breaking molecular change can work, because it fits with the visuals. Her making a mini-Big Bang would just be considered literary exaggeration.

I wasn't talking about her collapsing the cup into a ball of energy, I meant the power comparison between it and the big bang.
Oh, and what about her other feats? Her creating a microsingularity by compressing matter and her discorporating Earth beyond the subatomic level?

Her creating a microsingularity by compressing matter
Worth giving it a "possibly" tag since it's part of that purple prose style of speech.
er discorporating Earth beyond the subatomic level?
I think that is fine, since as I said before it fits in with what we see visually.

Basically what I'm saying is that stuff like this shouldn't be taken at face value profile-wise.

The timeframe it takes and the nature of the power wouldn't give you Tier 6 or 4 results.
Subatomic destruction of Earth is Low 4-C, and I don't think the timeframe is higher than 12 hours since Wolverine says he doesn't know if they will live to see the dawn

For Jean's feat of discorporating Earth at the subatomic level to be weaker than destroying a human at the subatomic level, the timeframe of her feat should be of 5.3871559633e22 seconds

I know, that's why we need to choose a timeframe for the feat
If its overtime I feel like it's more of a range thing than an AP thing. Since it's just a slowly growing zone of death.
For Jean's feat of discorporating Earth at the subatomic level to be weaker than destroying a human at the subatomic level, the timeframe of her feat should be of 5.3871559633e22 seconds
Scaling AP to AoE isn't linear like that. Her initial wave was already much larger than a normal human. The easiest way would just be finding out the area she did destroy and then giving her a likely rating by downscaling a timeframe from the Earth by 12 to 24 hours.

Her power allowed her to reach the core of the Earth in an instant, it should be noted that Jean was focused and distracted by Wolverine and her love for him
This is what I meant earlier. Compare it to the film and this doesn't happen. It's impressive, but it's from a book with heavy statements like this that is implying a far greater level of power shown compared to the movie.
Probably best to just take Alcatraz and try to calc a sub-atomic destruction of it.

Fair

The whole island?

So her tier would be "X (Jean destroying Alcatraz), possibly/likely X (Jean discorporating Earth overtime)?

So her tier would be "X (Jean destroying Alcatraz), possibly/likely X (Jean discorporating Earth overtime)?
Yeah. Something like "X, possibly Low 4-C (The novelization suggested she would dismantle the Earth which would be this tier)"

Then just put a note that the novelization for three contradicts some scenes for the movie which is why its not a solid rating.
