Woody Woodpecker is an animated character that appeared in theatrical short films produced by the Walter Lantz Studio and distributed by Universal Pictures between 1940 and 1972.

Woody, an anthropomorphic woodpecker, was created in 1940 by Lantz and storyboard artist Ben “Bugs” Hardaway, who had previously laid the groundwork for two other screwball characters, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes, at the Warner Bros. cartoon studio in the late 1930s.

Woody Woodpecker cartoons were first broadcast on television in 1957 under the title The Woody Woodpecker Show, which featured Lantz cartoons bookended by new footage of Woody and live-action footage of Lantz. Lantz produced theatrical cartoons longer than most of his contemporaries, and Woody Woodpecker remained a staple of Universal's release schedule until 1972 when Lantz finally closed down his studio.

The series contains the following cartoons:
  • The Woody Woodpecker Show (1957–1997; ABC, NBC, Syndication) - is a 30-minute American television series mainly composed, of the animated cartoon shorts of Woody Woodpecker and other Walter Lantz characters including Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, The Beary Family and Inspector Willoughby all released by Walter Lantz Productions. The Woody Woodpecker Show was named the 88th best animated series by IGN.
  • The New Woody Woodpecker Show (1999–2002; Fox Kids) - is an American animated comedy television series based on the animated short film series created by cartoonist and animator Walter Lantz. Each episode consists of two segments featuring Woody Woodpecker sandwiching one starring Chilly Willy, with Winnie Woodpecker and Knothead & Splinter also starring in some segments. 53 episodes (157 segments) were produced.
  • Woody Woodpecker (2018–present; YouTube) - is an American animated web series featuring the cartoon character of the same name created by Walter Lantz.
The series also contains the following films:
  • Woody Woodpecker (2017) - is a 2017 American 3D live-action/computer-animated slapstick comedy film directed by Alex Zamm, based on the cartoon character of the same name and produced by Universal 1440 Entertainment in co-production with Universal Animation Studios and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film's plot follows Woody protecting his forest from a real estate lawyer planning to build an investment house in his habitat.
  • Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp (2024) - The movie is the sequel to the 2017 3D live-action/computer-animated slapstick comedy film Woody Woodpecker and is written by Stephen Mazur and Cory Edwards and produced by Jon Kuyper. After getting kicked out of the forest, Woody thinks he's found a forever home at Camp Woo Hoo — until an inspector threatens to shut down the camp. The movie would be released on Netflix on April 12, 2024.
Woody was the star of a number of comic book series published in the U.S. and around the world. The main title, Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker, ran from 1952 to 1983. Woody first appeared as a comic book character in 1942, appearing alongside Andy Panda and Oswald the Rabbit in Dell Comics' New Funnies, an anthology comic that featured a number of other Lantz characters. Eventually, Woody became the star of New Funnies, leading to Woody Woodpecker solo comics appearing as part of Dell Comics' Four Color Comics one-shot series, beginning in 1947. Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker became an independent comic book (starting with issue #16 to reflect the earlier appearances in Four Color) in Dec. 1952-Jan. 1953. It ran for 201 issues, published by Dell and then Western Publishing (Whitman/Gold Key), lasting until 1983.

The series also contains the following video games:
  • Woody Woodpecker #1, Woody Woodpecker #2, and Woody Woodpecker #3 (1994) for the 3DO
  • Férias Frustradas do Pica-Pau (translation: Woody Woodpecker Frustrated Vacation) (1996) for Mega Drive and Master System (made by Tectoy, sold only in Brazil)
  • Woody Woodpecker Racing (2000) for PlayStation, Windows, and GBC
  • Woody Woodpecker: Escape from Buzz Buzzard Park (2001) for GBC, Windows, and PS2
  • Universal Studios Theme Parks Adventure (2001) for GameCube
  • Woody Woodpecker in Crazy Castle 5 (2002) for GBA
  • Woody Woodpecker: Wacky Challenge (2010) for mobile phone
  • Woody Woodpecker In Waterfools (2010) for mobile phone
  • Woody Woodpecker (App) (2012) for iOS
Mattel purchased the rights for a Woody Woodpecker Intellivision game, and Grace Stafford recorded new dialog for the game, but was not completed.

Maruhon has released a series of pachinko games in Japan.
What do you think of this for the summary?

Leôncio
Just correct the bold in some justifications, as well as the LS which is Class 50 and not 5. Otherwise I think it's fine.

Just correct the bold in some justifications, as well as the LS which is Class 50 and not 5. Furthermore, all YouTube videos whether in English or Portuguese that are not from the official English channel are blocked by region.

In other words, it will be unavailable for viewing by 90% of the staff and people on the wiki.

Otherwise I think it's good.

cool

Say something please.

Not sure if Leoncio existence erasure is actually existence erasure... he just broke the glass Woody was using immersion on what made our favorite bird go to the thing Leoncio was holding to break It

The summary extension has been added to the back page. I also included the backgroundless version of the Andy Panda and Chilly Willy images.

With the exception of the characters, the background still needs to be removed. Or things like more calculations.

Is there anything else that could be improved on the verse page?

We have logos, a larger summary that talks about the media of Woody's verse. A verse power section, images for the characters and a small gallery. In addition to linking the general discussion of the verse.

He got decent over time, doing less of that.

Even Little Woodpecker (the latest version of him from the original cartoon) still simply irritates someone for an entire episode simply for nothing.

And in 2018, Woody wanted to have a barbecue, so he went to a chef who was doing a reality show and made him so hellish to cook for him that he turned the chef into a carniforo again. And then the chef tried to devour Woody, well, he got what he deserved.

Tell that to the bear who just wanted to sleep and was tormented by the woodpecker trying to sell things.

Don't forget that he also jumped to his death with a police officer too.

Or at the barber where he threatened to kill the guy several times just for fun.
woody was just tring to sell things, the bear was rude with him instead of just gently saying "no"

in this other 2 he also lost (He died too in the first, got beated up in the end of the episode)

Another anti-feat, lol
Honestly, we have a very subjective statement as it doesn't depend on Woody but on the fans and the animator.

Besides the fact that the profile is the final version of Woody, we do not have keys for the skills (bleach type)

So it would just be an anti-feats for things in the web series since Woody may or may not have this plot hax from the fans in the past. And yet we have this excuse.

Every single version of Woody is the same, so...

Anyway, i was joking, i don´t really believe that these are really "anti-feats", like, we have FAR more episodes where he "won" than episodes where he "loses"

Speaking of which, probably when Dragonite finishes all the profiles he has on the back page.

(The one from the movie will probably go with JustANormalLemon)

I'll have to address canonicity, since in the crt I only linked Woody with the one from 2018 and not the other characters.

I don't know if I do that now. Or if I do it later.

Because if it doesn't work out with the other characters, we'll have a lot of things to remove from the profiles. Probably a lot.
