Upgrading Gilgamesh (Myth). Why is he wall level?

As stated in his page, he and Enkidu killed the Bull of Heaven, who is the constellation Taurus. The bull of heaven dries the up the woods, marshes and lowered the level of the river Euphrates by 3.2 metersby drinking or evaporating it. Anu would not release it unless the city of Uruk gathers seven years worth of food to for its sustenance, which it did. Each breath of the bull traps one to two hundred people in pit giant pits.


Gilgamesh fought against Humbaba, whose roar causes floods. Andrew George translation, when they fight the mountains Sirion and Lebanon shatter under their heels and burst asunder. The mountains they seperate are quite large: The height of mount Sirion (Hermon) is 2,814 m, while the height of Lebanon is 3,088 m. The valley separating them, Beqaa valey, is 120 kilometers long and 16 kilometers wide on average. I do not know if this is country level, but it should be mountain level.


The forest they shook spanned a small country at the time, at least. If it is actually the Zagros forest instead of lebanon (it depands on the version of the epic), a rather large country. In any case, Humbaba has absolute hearing at a radius of 100 leagues within his forest, so this radius is the minimal one for his realm, which the battle levelled even according to the current page.


About consuming the Euphrates river:
The river consists of: 450 kilometers long for the western river and 650 kilometers long for the eastern river, then some 3,000 kilometers together. It is, according to the only source i found right now, which is The Great Soviet Encyclopedia, 150 m to 500 m wide, and some 10 m deep.
That means about a third of the river was consumed.
If we assume the river to be a consistent 325 m, the middle of out width range, we will have: 1000*(3000+450+650)*(3*325)= 3997500000 cubic meters. This is 3.9975e+12 liters, so 3.9975e+12 kg= 3997500000 metric tons. this is not even the Bull's daily intake of water.
For 150: 1.845e+12 liter
For 500:6.15e+12 liter
Using annual discharge, which i belive to be more percise since it represants an actually known, if variable, measure of the amount of water flowing in the river- knowing that a third (3.2/10) of the river was consumed- we could calculate how much of the river was taken. Both methods sadly have to ignore the shifts in the river through millenia.
the discharge at Keban is 20.9 cubic kilometers. at hit, 36.6 cubic kilometers. by year it could be far higher or lower, such as 1961 at the Turkish border, 42.7 cubic kilometer. None of these is as south as uruk. so' the relevant amount would be:
Low- 6.68800 × 1012 liter
Medium- 1.1712 × 1013 liter
High-1.3664 × 1013 litre
If we assume the Bull is not a constellation, and is build like a real bull:

tells me that beef cattle should drink 45 liters a day, in average.

says 1-2 gallons per 100 pounds, depending on the weather. since Uruk is hot, and since the Bull dries and heats it's environment, it is likely at least 2.
Now, let us assume that what the Bull drank was enough for the day. (3.9975e+12 liters)/3.78= 1.0575397e+12 gallons.
X(final weight)/100=W(water consumption) *(1 or 2), X=W*100*(1 or 2).
1.0575397e+12*100= 1.0575397e+14 lb ot 2.1150794e+14 lb= 4.7589286e+13 kg or 9.5178571e+13
With 150: 4.8809524e+13 lb= 2.1964286e+13 kg to 4.3928571e+13.
With 500: 4.797e+14 lb= 7.3214286e+13 kg to 1.4642857e+14 kg.
Discharge low: 1.7693122e+14 lb= 7.9619048e+13 kg to 1.592381e+14 kg.
Discharge mid: 3.0984127e+14 lb= 1.3942857e+14 kg to 2.7885714e+14 kg.
Discharge high: 3.6148148e+14 lb= 1.6266667e+14 kg to 3.27936e+14 kg.

Now using the other method:

Wikipedia tells me that a rough average of bulls is 1090 kg or in weight, Chianina are 1,500 kg, and Hereford are 907 kg or . The heaviest bull weigh 1,740 kg or. Largest steer 2,140 kg.
I will take the averages and check their relation to the suggested amount of water, then i will multiply by the amount of water i have. Medium width (325):
Largest steer: consumption relation=45/2140=W(water consumed)/X(weight). 45/2140=3.9975e+12/X. X=(3.9975e+12*2140)/45= 1.9010333e+14 kg
Largest bull: 1.5457e+14 kg
Chianina bull: 1.3325e+14 kg
Average bull: 9.6828333e+13 kg
Hereford bull: 8.0571833e+13 kg
Smallest option- minimal width+hereford: (1.845e+12 * 907)/45= 3.7187e+13 kg
Larger bulls+ largest width:
Largest steer: 2.9246667e+14 kg. Largest bull: 2.378e+14 kg.
Low discharge option (with Hereford): 1.3480036e+14 kg.
Medium discharge with Average bull: 2.8369067e+14 kg. Chianina: 3.904e+14 kg.
High discharge with Largest bull: 5.2834133e+14 kg. Largest steer: 6.4979911e+14 kg.

(Note, however, that if that bull's presence was what quickly dried the river, an evaporation calculation should be done, which might actually be higher.)

SO- Gilgamesh has a mountain feat, and another that is at least similar by scale. Even if the bull should not be considered a constellation, unlike similar mythological figures, he is ar least as large and powerful as a mountain.
 
OK, i found how it is done, and even a calculator that takes pressure into account according to temperature. So, i found the avarage monthly temperatures of the more-or-less close large coty of Basra, 33.9 in August compared to 12.2 in January. just in case we could take extremes of 40 and 10 which i found in more northern parts of Iraq, since Uruk is not near a coat. I will also consider 25 degrees, room temperature which is somewhat in the middle. All degrees are celcius ofcourse.
The variation of results is minimal between the different temperatures, but i wanted to account for it, just in case.


10 degrees (2477.2 kj/kg):

So the lowest estimations for evaporation grant us Large Mountain level, and the higher estimations are Island level. The best estimations in my opinion are discharge based since they do not assume uniformity, and use an actually known measure of the water within it.
As said, there is a good reason to believe both that the Bull was drinking the water and that he was evaporating it.
