Touhou General Discussion Thread 2: 17.5 Edition.

Alright, lemme ask here as well since it was brought up in the Discord.

What is the source for fairy type 8 immortality? PMiSS doesn't say they rely on nature, and nothing else we've looked into says that either. The only thing even remotely close is the wiki's claims that their immortality works that way, but they give no source and the wiki has been blatantly wrong about things before.

Funny how Saikou accuses us of wanking the verse when he lets stuff like this slide :v

Same for low-godly youkai but at least there we can upgrade them to mid or high-godly instead.

Well, yeah, because it's downplayed :v

But tbh low-godly is not and has never been valid, since there's nothing actually suggesting that youkai can regenerate from their minds. Just holding off on downgrading it since Doge has good arguments for mid-godly that we can use instead.

The same person that say the LotBD is a "mirror" to the real world lol.
and who also claimed Okina created it lmao

High-godly regen comes from how youkai will reform inside Gensokyo after being completely and utterly erased on a conceptual level in the outside world.

Really, the regen itself is very easy to prove, it's just a matter of whether or not being deleted from the collective conscious of humanity and regenerating is actually a high-godly feat.

Just asking out of curiosity but would anyone be getting any regen negation anytime soon—assuming they don't have it already—and on what level?

Reimu should definitely be getting regen negation, and maaaaaaybe Marisa as well? Depends on what order we do the revisions in, though; I have a thread that mentions Reimu's regen negation, which would be low-godly, but I also have a separate thread that'd possibly cover mid-godly as well, and Doge has his thread that also brings up mid-godly.

I think, assuming Doge's thread is done, we should do that first since 1. youkai low-godly is invalid and we need something to replace it with and 2. youkai are long overdue for AE.

Hell-O guys. It's been a long time since the moment I disappeared from existence. But that was for a Greater Good that I can't say.
Regardless, how were you? What kind of things happened during my unexpected vacations?
Also I see an Elden Ring thread. HOly shit I have to go there and say some things

holy shit, hecatia real?????

You missed a lot, to say the least. New 2hu showed up in CDS, and on the VS side of things, there are too many things to count (but rn I'm in the process of adding some very good verse-wide resistances).

Also apparently there are some good arguments for high-godly youkai, but we still gotta get the mid-godly stuff done first :v

Well, I already knew about the new 2hu girl.
(This is dedicated to all Mima fans)

HmmMMMMM, that's also interesting
Although if I can add my grain of sand 🤏,characters that have boundary manip and/or derivates should gain resistance to their own abilities.

Epic.

I'm interested in hearing the argument for that, we could probably make Yukari one of the most hated characters in VS debates with a resistance list like that :v

Basically, for you to manipulate boundaries you need to have enough power to resist the pressure of the ability itself. That could be basically resisting every use you get from the ability, because if not, you will die from its pressure.

Oh, very interesting...

This also makes power mimicry against Yukari and Reimu dangerous as well, since there's no guarantee that whoever copies boundary manipulation will be able to withstand it.

This makes sense to me, honestly, though I think other people will just see it as general concept manip resistance.

It'd affect any profile with a 9-B rating so uh. A lot of them :v

That being said I was gonna wait on Cirno's freezing calcs and Nitori's flood calc before messing with the low tiers, but I ain't gonna stop you.

Go for it. There's one (1) thing I should probably send to you over Discord first, just give me a few minutes to find the sources. EDIT: Actually nvm I forgot the source lmao

also I hope you understand the repurcussions of making pc98 canon :v
