I think tanjirou's gonna take this Not only he can smell and know where polarneriffs gonna strike and he's probably more skilled with his extensive years of skill while polarneriff's kinda picked up everything along the road Tanjiro's gonna cut up polarneriff

1 for Tanjirou

Though some food for thought, Silver Chariot can speed amp "massively" at the cost of its durability, as well as shoot the sword as a projectile.

Not even, Tanjirou can't harm Chariot. There's no downside to it here, Chariot can amp it's speed multiple times over, efectively making it be abke to be in at keast 8 places at once with no drawback as the lack of durability doesn't matter here.

Alsoif this is peak Polanreff, he has much larger range than he started off with (Pre-Vanilla it's only like 1-2 meters, post Vanilla it's like 10-20m).

Actually would Tanjirou even being skilled matter here? The thing he's fighting he can't actually harm or see, can he even smell a Stand? Stand's don't leave a scent of any kind, specially given Stands that have smelling as a power have never been shown tracking Stands via smell (Highway Star).

I'm pretty sure what he's sniffing doesn't need a smell for him to detect it... not that I don't think Polnareff wouldn't be able to win.

How can he detect a non-corporal, scentless, intangible being via smell if he doesn't detect things via smell (The profile specifically says he detects movements via smell)? How does that even work?

That wasn't rhetorical, I'm actually asking.

Except Stand's don't have scents? If he has to actually smell something like the profile claims, then he can't smell Stands because Stand's don't have any scent. Like at all, yeah sure maybe in his verse dead things have scents but in JoJo, Stands, clearly lack any scent (Which they should anyway given they're noncorporal and can't be interacted with by anything that isn't a Stand, which includes the world itself and particles and the like, as they just phase through it) but because Stands that literally have tracking scents as an ability, can't even track the scent of Stands, opting to have to track the scent of the user, see Highway Star. Tanjiro can't use his ability to smell a Stand because Stands lack any type of scent, at least the non-corporal ones. He can't smell what literally doesn't smell.

Also smelling how someone is feeling is easy, there's literally a character in JoJo who can do that via picking up the scent of chemicals and all that.

Ok so my point stands. Chariot is invisible, has no scent so precog is useless, can't be touched and can drastically amp it's speed to the point where it can effectively be in 8 places at once, against fighters that were previously comparable with it and the downside to its speed amp doesn't matter as Tanjirou can't actually hit it to begin with. Not only that but Chariot has a decently high effective range at it's peak (Large enough to cover a huge room), so Chariot can keep Tanjirou away from Pol all the while Chariot can stil attack while Polis out of Tanjirou's attack range.

>polarneriff's kinda picked up everything along the road

That's also blatantly untrue, it's otright said polnareff trained extensively for years honing his sword and Stand mastery.

I'm voting Pol. Tanjirou can't really deal with an invisible, skilled, intangible, ghost that can amplify its speed to the point the match basically becomes a 1v8, while having the range to keep Pol out of Tanjirou's range (which is only extended melee) while being able to fight none the less. Chariot having no scent makes it impossible for Tanjirou to tell where the attacks will come from, especially due to invisibility and Pol's maindrawback literally doesn't matter at all. Tanjirou can't even harm Chariot, he lacks NPI.

huh i don't remember that in the anime
He says that he's been training and honing his skills since the day his sister died to use said skills to avenge her. (He's also skilled enough to pick apart someone's sword style and mistakes at a glance).

Hell I lied apparently, I found one of the quotes, Polnareff trained Chariot for ten years. Vol2 Silver Chariot - Part 3 is the source of that one.

Tho Tanjirou's range is much higher than just extended melee range since he can create shockwave blades (which almost every Breath user does) but that's a CRT thing

Wouldn't really matter, Peak Polnareff range is at least 10-20m eyeballing it (Could probably do a quick ang calc), unless it's that high I don't think it'd make a difference (Plus given the potential distance, Pol would have time to avoid it).

Is this fair though? Tanjirou runs at Polnareff then gets slapped by Silver Chariot, which he can't detect, and dies.

Can't See-Through World detect invisible things like aura or life energy? Even then it's not like he can do anything to SC but he has more of a chance.

For what it's worth, Life Energy=/=Stands. Life Energy is the shit Gold Experience uses to create life and pumped Bruno full of to let him move his body awhile longer (And the thing he uses to sense, Giorno claims that it exists in clusters as well) or the thing Esidisi exploded into. Life Energy and Stand Energy are explicitly two different types of energy, same with aura, that's a seperate thing as well.

Tanjiro can still smell where Polnaref intents to attack, and he has some great speed amps; the Demon Slayer Mark allowed hisspeed outpace an an opponent who can casually blitz him, and he can see in slow-motion an attack so fast he would describe it as simultaneous random blows from every directio, along with confusing his opponent's senses.

Also, if Battle Spirit is not equalized to Stands, this means that Polnaref is vulnerable to fear aura.

No he can't? Polnareff isn't what's attacking, Polnareff is going to be 10+ meters away just standing there doing absolutely nothing, it's the Stand that's attacking, he can't smell the Stand, thus he can't predict where it's going to attack. Polnareff doesn't even have to single out specific places to attack anyway, he can just have Chariot take care of the rest.

Yes and Chariot without its armor goes from being about equal with Magician's Red (with Magician even casually avoiding his strikes) to becoming so fast that it is invisible through raw speed now compared to how fast it was prior, can effortlessly dodge blows from centimeters away and spontaneously appear elsewhere meters and effectively be in multiple places at one time, not attacking from multiple spots but effectively in multiple different locations at one time, hell it's normal fisticuffs may as well be atacking multiple spots at a given time. Couple that with being invisible, can't be sensed, can't be harmed or even touched and a much larger range than Tanjirou has, he's by all accounts never gonna get close enough to even hit Polnareff because he's to busy dealing with the invisible, unsenseable, invincible, intangible knight that he doesn't even know exists and as far as he's concerned he's being attacked numerous times in a second by literally nothing.

The fear aura won't actually stop Polnareff from attacking, he can be scared but because he doesn't need to actually deal with his body acting against him because he can just command Chariot to attack in his stead, which is what would happen anyway, it's not a huge match changing issue, given the fear manip in question isnt so potent it prevents him from commanding his Stand to attack. (Plus he's overcome similiar things before and tremoundous fear that crippled others, see Kak literally being frozen in place and puking in his mouth a bit when encountering Dio or Abdul breaking out in a cold sweat. Dio's profile actually mentions that his presence can induce extremely abnormal reactions to him, including intense fear, Polnareff at his peak is extremely good at dealing with crippling fear and not leting it effect his goals and self in a fight).

For some counterarguments:

Tanjiro can likely sense the Stand, since Tanjiro's clarivoyant sense of smell allows him to smell the thoughts of others as confirmed in the databook (which he often uses to smell the thoughts of Nezuko and even smell the thoughts of animals and insects). Stands are manifestation of the psyche, and so are thoughts. Since Tanjiro is capable of fighting blind using only his smell he should be able to identify the position of the Stand at all time.

Silver Chariot is not an auto-pilot Stand; for almost everything it does it does the exact action Polnaref wants it to do, in fact it can't see anything Polnaref can't see, so Tanjiro's precog should work on Polnaref by proxy assuming he can't sense the Stand (which he probably can). Also, Polnaref is a Jojo character so he'll probably do poses instead of stand still, lol.

Tanjiro just have to target Polnaref, which he should be able to do so with his superior speed amps; two separate amps that allowed him to outpace an opponent who could casually blitz him, and improved precog and speed + sensory confusion for opponent + ability to see what would otherwise look like dozens of seemingly random and simultaneous attacks from different directions in slow motion.

Wrong, Stands are the manifestion of the soul, not the psyche, Stands can reflect the psyche in purpose, such as Killer Queen being suited to murder because that's what Kira needs deep down or Heaven's Door being manga based but that's all, they reflect the user's personality and needs but what they literally are and has been confirmed multiple ties over, even as recently as the newest part is, and souls being something Tanjirou can't sense. Completely ignoring the fact Stands don't even have a scent, Tanjirou being able to smell thoughts is probably due to something like chemicals and the like, unless you're telling me he can sense exactly what someone is thinking in detail but smelling how someone is feeling or their motives, things like that do indeed have scents, there's even a JoJo character who can do that. Stands don't have scents, there's even Stands which have the power of super smell and are able to track targets for kilometers, and even that Stand doesn't track Stands via their scent, because Stands simply don't have any scent and given Tanjirou can't smell literal souls, which are what Stands are, no, he's simply incapable of doing so.

Silver Chariot not being an auto-pilot Stand has absolutely zero bearing on Polnareff telling it do as it pleases or to simply attack, Star Platinum isn't an auto-pilot Stand either but it can be given free control onto its actions. No Tanjirou can't sense a Stand, you're twisting what a Stand actually is and has been for nearly 28 years now, Tanjirou can't smell literal souls and thus he can't smell a Stand and as such can't sense it either. Assuming he can quite literally read Polnareff's thoughts in great detail, all he's gonna get is Polnareff thinking attack him, nothing more, nothing less. Polnareff being a JoJo character means nothing, he poses and then what? Nothing, he's still standing out of Tanjirou's range while Chariot ragdolls him and Tanjirou can't do anything about it.

He'd have to actually get to him first, which he's going to have extreme trouble doing, and then Pol just proceeds to move back again out of his reach and Tanjirou is back at square one. I'm going to have to disagree on the speed amps being surperior, especially going by the scans above. Chariot's speed amp goes from Magician's Red being able to casually avoid all his strikes by simply weaving back and forth to Magician's Red can't even see him move, he looks like he's in over 8 places at once and he's basically teleporting to different spots while attacks are mere centimeters away from contact with him. The best case you can make is Tanjirou can at least get around the same speed as Chariot with his amps, definitely not higher that's for sure. His precog is useless, he can't smell a Stand and nothing in his series suggests he can smell a Stand, in fact the exact opposite is true, he's seemingly failed to smell the dead and spiritual. He can't see Chariot nor can he sense it, hell he can't even touch Chariot, your last point is a moot one. Sensory **** up is a fair point, but from what I've seen it's not so drastic as to the point it'll actually stop Polnareff from doing what needs to be done, especially when Polnareff has shown the ability to overcome similar things, albeit not perfectly but enough to continue fighting.

So let me ask, how does Tanjirou get past a fighter he can't see, he can't touch, he can't harm in any way whatsoever, he can't use precog on due to being incapable of smelling the spiritual and Stands in general lacking any scent, a character who can greatly amp their speed instantly with no downside due to Tanjirou's inability to harm it, as well as outranging Tanjirou and thus the only thing he can harm and thus his only way to win is going to be nearly if not always out of his range (Not to mention said character can still take blows from Tanjirou given 8-C durability) and in the situation Tanjirou does get close, Pol can just move out of range again while Chariot keeps him busy. Mind you Pol isn't like Jotaro or Kakyoin, he doesn't hold back, he goes for the kill right away. Hell, in character Pol uses his armor shedding as a lead if he thinks there's no danger to it, Tanjirou being inable to harm Chariot means that yeah, in character Chariot is leading with his speed amp and the moment he gets an opening he goes for a killing blow,, he always has and always will when faced with a foe, he's honarable but he doesn't **** around or pull punches. Tanjirou being incapable of touching Chariot gives Polnareff that chance right away, even if Tanjirou could sense where Chariot is going to attack, that doesn't actually help him because he can't block it, Chariot would phase through his attempt to block or counter and strike him all the same, and given Chariot is likely to be leading with his speed amp given his opponent being basically a safe option, Tanjirou is never going to get a chance to make use of his speed amp over time or reactive power level, he's going to be ragdolled by essentially multiple chariots at once, all of which he can't defend against or block or even harm, all while his main foe is out of reach.

Also Tanjirou being able to read minds sounds like a CRT thing.
