"Strongest of the Maiar (for a time)", whats that about?

He was stated to be the greatest in arms in all of Arda, which means when it comes to weapons, no one can beat him.

Plus Sauron straight up backed down when ordered to come with Eonwe by Eonwe.

He just seems like he'd humiliate most of the Maiar in combat, and he'd beat all of them. I'd argue he's nearly Valar level.

he is nowhere near valar level.

unless you start valar level with end of the first age morgoth, which is far from how the rest of the valar are.

Eonwe is leagues above most other maiar, and Melian and Sauron are the only maiar close to his level.

Originally, he was idneed the strongest maia, but once Sauron forged himself the ring, for as long as he wore it, he was effectivlly stronger, according to the lore.

However, without it's enchantment, he is still below Eonwe.

Based on what did he become more powerful the Eonwe? Sauron has had his butt kicked more times then I can count, haha.

Eonwe in terms of fighting with weapons is above the likes of Feanor, Fingolfin, etc.

It was stated that with the one ring, Sauron became the strongest maiar, so based on that.

As of fighting capabilities, we have no reason to assume Eonwe was superior to Feanor and Fingolfin.

Feanor took on an entire division of maiar alone, and gave them a run for their money.

Fingolfin mamed a weakened Morgoth, whom, while weakened, still was vastly superior to any maia.

Sorry, forgot to post here again, haha.

It's a direct quote that Eonwe is the best fighter with weapons in the verse.

right, forgot this one.

Yes, it seems Eonwe is indeed the best in terms of martial skills and usage of weaponry.

And when I think about it, it makes sense, as Tulkas, who is the de-facto god of war in the verse is fighting bare handed and is usually just relying on brute force.

So it makes sense Eonwe have the most skill.
