Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

With the planet completely drained of life, the Deadly Six use the drained energy to destroy Sonic, Tails and Eggman. They then vow to eradicate all traces of Eggman’s legacy, and upon learning of this Orbot and Cubot race to rally up the strongest robots on Earth to try and defeat them.
I was gonna make a bigger list, but I could only think of two complete ideas. A story focused on Infinite would be pretty cool though.

I had this idea way back when, but "What if Dark Gaia Took Over the World?" Basically, it's an alternate version of Unleashed's plot, but Dark Gaia is powerful enough upon awakening to plunge the world into eternal night, destroying Eggman's forces in the process. Now everybody (including a Sonic who's stuck in a permanent Werehog form) has to work together to find a way to undo the damage caused. I imagined it could have more of a horror take, with the various creatures having more monstrous designs and Sonic slowly losing his humanity to the influence, adding suspense and tension to the whole thing.

"What if Shadow was never sealed away?"

Probably a no-brainer cuz this has the most major effect on the timeline (the Robotnik family isn't in shambles, meaning Ivo most likely doesn't become Eggman)

What if Sonic “died” during SA2 I think is cool because of an amnesiac Sonic and potential Sonic Androids
 
Question: is Amy considered a Sonic level character in the series or is she beneath that threshold? Just asking since, afaik, Surge is the really only viable threat to Neo Metal Sonic in terms of speed and strength before the latter just copies her bio data.

Gonna be honest my one thought that whole episode was the “his writing is this FIRE???” image, but it would constantly be switching between being ironic and being sincere.

Dude, that's actually a really cool idea.

Having SA2 end in reverse, with Sonic being the one to "die" and Shadow remaining "alive" has a lot of potential in terms of story telling. Like imagine a game in this sort of continuity, where Sonic is supposedly dead and Shadow acts in his place as the hero of the world to honor his memory and Maria's promise to always protect the world and its people.

  • What if Sonic the Hedgehog never existed?
    • I'd love a comprehensive take beyond the typical "Dr. Eggman wins because the rest of them suck". The basis of this what-if is a "coming of age" story that focuses on Tails going through the majority of the games as its protagonist. The twist is that Amy's Tarot Cards still lead her to Little Planet, but instead evades capture due to no romantic blinders in play. From there, it's essentially Tails and Amy as the central protagonists who become inseparable (because of course she's not just gonna let a 5-6 year old wander into all sorts of danger unsupervised, are you kidding?).
  • What if Tails "cured" the Metal Virus?
    • Plot twist: What Tails believes to be a cure instead causes more severe mutations of the Metal Virus, causing volatile evolution that allows different Metal Virus "types". Oh, and what's worse? The "Cured Variants" have a strain that renders the virus inseparable from the host. Now a large portion of the population is forced to be hurled into the Sun, potentially including whichever of Sonic's friends got infected by the Cured Variants (assuming Sonic himself wasn't infected). In other words, Metal Virus but worse outcome.
  • What if Knuckles became immortal?
    • Several years into the future, the Master Emerald deems him worthy and bestows Knuckles with immortality once the echidna begins to slow and weaken in his age (after all, despite the numerous shatterings, Knuckles DID always get it fixed in the end). Enter the era of Silver's future, which we see from Knuckles' perspective after he was "cursed" (that's what Knuckles calls it) with being ageless. He's Silver's mentor (which Silver never brings up to the Modern cast due to the Future Knuckes' wishes) and has a friendly relationship with Future Shadow (all of your other friends acquaintances dying will do that).
Here are some rudimentary ones I guess, one for each of Team Sonic (sorry Sonic).

Currently Amy is far superior to Sonic is physical stats, MoS showed that pretty clearly

What if Emerl lived?
•The ramifications of a character that has all the P&A/skills of the Adventure era cast being still around while being heroic are massive and who knows he might end up copying Blaze, Silver and other characters in the future possibly becoming a being similar to DCAU A.M.A.Z.O? (great character btw).

What if Perfect Chaos destroyed the world?
•A pretty bleak one, with the remnants of civilization struggling to survive in world that's 99.9% water (think of Waterworld) while Perfect Chaos has left the planet to spread his flood of destruction to other worlds. Legends speak of a miracle gemstone that could stop Chaos; the Master Emerald however it lies at the bottom of the near endless ocean in the ruins of a fallen civilization known as Devil's Rock.

Yup the child of duckality (since the other word is censored here) literally wipes entire armies of villains including Thanos, The Black Order, Malekith, Dark elves, Dark sorcerers, etc plus forces Zeus to retreat all while she was still a bird egg that came out of her human mother.


A peeps still give Sonic and his fans a hard time with the kiss scene in 06 (nearly 20 years later).

What if Solaris was stolen from 06 by Eggman Nega's Camera in Rivals?
There isn't really too much I could argue on what if's because most of the people have done them by now.
Like "What if Metal Sonic ended up in Secret Rings, and came into contact with the World Rings?"

"What if the Babylon Rogues found Tails", or something like that. I think they'd all sort of play older sibling roles for him, and his interest in mechanics would absolutely be encouraged and flourish with Wave's own interest of it, as well.
I think targeting the dynamics and experiences of characters can be really interesting.

Gonna talk about it here so I don’t derail that thread: According to the Sonic wiki article on the unused “Sonic > Metal Overlord” statement, it along with two others were apparently meant to be the equivalent to the “there is no future for you” line from the Mephiles fight. Anyone got any ideas why they might’ve been cut?

What if Sonic Unleashed wasn't dogshit HAHA GOTTEM!!!!!

There's a lotta obvious what if's such as "What if Eggman / Monster of the Week won in <insert game>", but I'd like one where the backstory of the Ancient and the End never happened and the Chaos Emeralds never left their homeworld to come to earth. Would be cool to imagine how the events of the games would end up playing out without the emeralds.

What if Tails only had one tail?
This seems like an interesting concept as then that leads to Tails not being bullied but also potentially not meeting Sonic, it'd also have the implication of him just being called Miles the Fox.

What if Shadow lost to Black Doom in Shadow Gens?
Black Doom would take over Shadow's body, sure, but the question would remain of how that'd impact White Space and the Sonics, or if he could even be recovered, and of course if not how that may affect the future.

What if Sonic 06 was not retconned?
Quite a whole topic of its own, especially as there's "multiple" ways to interpret this, and most with undesirable results.
