Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

What if Sonic Unleashed wasn't dogshit HAHA GOTTEM!!!!!

There's a lotta obvious what if's such as "What if Eggman / Monster of the Week won in <insert game>", but I'd like one where the backstory of the Ancient and the End never happened and the Chaos Emeralds never left their homeworld to come to earth. Would be cool to imagine how the events of the games would end up playing out without the emeralds.
I got one "What if" that actually may be more interesting for the "What if they won in certain game."
What if Excalibur accidentally cut open Camelot to Sonic's world after defeating Merlina?

Sonic Question Time: If Sonic was to have his own version of Marvel’s “What If…?” (An anthology series that covered alternate scenarios), what ideas do you think would be cool to see?
What if Tails had failed to protect Sonic from the mind control beam in Colors?
  • Ignoring the DS stuff, it would become an episode of Tails having to fight Eggman alone, maybe he would fix and reprogram Metal Sonic (who should be damaged somewhere thanks to the short) to fight Sonic, but in that time, Eggman manages to finish the final robot and Tails needs to use the help of the Whisps to save the day (if you don't care about continuity you could explore the whole arc he has in Forces and Frontier, but it would probably make even less sense than in them and would be more rushed)
  • If we don't ignore the DS version, it probably becomes everyone against Eggman (considering everyone is around), the robot and maybe the mother Whisp
I don't know when it would be right for Sonic to be released from it or maybe Eggman takes advantage of his mind control state to finish him off once and for all

Two others occurred to me almost immediately

What if Zavok obtains the Phantom Ruby?
  • Instead of appearing in front of Eggman, it falls into the Hex Continent, and Zavok gains possession of it, so he decides to use it to finish off Sonic and Eggman. The Deadly Six go to Eggman and start a war between them and Eggman, little by little gaining possession of Eggman's robots thanks to their technopathy and replicating them with the Phantom Ruby. Eggman without access to his technology, has to try to survive everything he once had, ending with him sending a message to Sonic and his friends while Zavok corners him and puts Eggman forever in an illusion (like Infinite did to Shadow) to torture him for the rest of his existence; While we see Tails communicating with Sonic about the situation, the Deatly six (only Zavok and his master probably) find all of Eggman's information on weapons, objects and gems of great power and prepare to go seize them.

What if Knuckles was the detective instead of Tails?
(because obviously we need a less serious one that nobody wanted for not being serious)
  • The roles are chosen randomly,Knuckles gets the detective role and Rouge gets the killer (other important changes in roles are that Tails switches roles with Knuckles, Blaze with Sonic, including which car Sonic went to; and Shadow is the one who goes to the driver's car, Blaze having to be the coffee maker).
    The whole episode is about Knuckles being a detective, and Barry accompanying him because he notices that Knuckles' search for the killer ends up damaging things (since Knuckles is one of those who looks for clues in easily breakable objects, besides being terrible at getting information out of the rest);
    Meanwhile Sonic is found dead, and Knuckles suspects Rouge, but she says no in the most suspicious way possible, knowing that Knuckles will believe it (he does) but Barry ends up figuring everything out (she "kills" Sonic because he refuses to let Rouge try to steal the object from his car, so to get rid of him she chooses him as her victim);
    Shadow abandons his train car to get the tickets, and since nobody stay in the control room with the conductor, nobody finds out that the train is a Badnik, so while everything is going on, every so often we get a super tense focus on the train approaching Eggman’s base without anyone noticing,
    Finally, everyone gathers in the control room so Knuckles gets wrong about who the killer is, while Barry starts trying to help him by giving him clues (Knuckles ends up discovering it in the most convoluted and ridiculous way possible.
    Once finished, Sonic casually asks the conductor about the power source and they end up seeing it, but while the Train tries to finish them off, it reveals what it’s doing, and Amy starts doing the evagelization jutsu on it… ending in a time jump where Tails puts his consciousness into a robot, and the conductor adopts it, in turn trying to “raise” it to stop its possessive and toxic tendencies that it has with the conductor (the whole part of the train attacking them and the evagelization of the train happens super fast, we can’t let the chapter be serious for too long).

What if: Sonic woke up and all of his adventures were all a dream and he's just a regular human in a Psych Ward with the doctors noting down all of his adventures as insanity-induced episodes that never happened. His real name is Nicholas.

@Omegabronic & everyone
When you made Sonic Runner its own universe, only changes in cosmology and chronology were made, so I wanted to ask you if you think I should apply the changes that my thread said that it should be made (although leaving the Whisps refereences because I have no replacement),
basically this:
-Knuckles loses one of his martial arts mentions in his intelligence, he have others so it doesn't matter much (Intelligence)
-Loses Blinding (Modern era)
-Remove the Knuckles' Runners martial arts reference , there is another one from another game, so basically nothing changes (Intelligence, Combat)
  • General
-This calculation becomes unusable (Sonic Runners Adventure is affected by automatic, and the calc was never accepted on the wiki to begin with (for the same reason, it should probably be removed from the verse page). Probably due to the current infinite stats, it no longer matters

Huh, you know, i didn't realized so much other stuff from Runners was still there, legit my bad dude, will remove once i find time later today

IIRC, the comments about Runners not being canon almost always came with the detail it's like that because it was a delisted that can't be played officially anymore. Sonic Runners Adventure isn't like that, so as far as I know, shouldn't be a problem.

Btw, the lore manager recently said there was nothing about Speed Simulator being canon, so it could be questioned if the Speed Simulator is trustworthy for this Wiki's objectives. It could be the case that SEGA only wanted them to be consistent with the canon, but not be literally canon, so the dev might just have misunderstood what SEGA meant.

Who would have greater authority in this case? The developers of SS or the lore manager for the Sonic series? Because if it's the latter, then it's probably a clear cut case of not being able to be used

Ok, that makes sense, in that case we need someone to verify the calc, because no one has do it.

Going to be honest I would rather wait to get actual SoJ to say anything before removing it.

Before we do anything with Speed Sim, we should get a source on them saying this. I don't doubt you, but I want to be sure of course.

Sadly the person who did the question hide their account, so I can't see it. But Chris's answer is still visible.

The question was about Speed Sim being canon since developers said it was. Then Chris answered that. That person then replied with discord prints from the devs, but then they hide their account.

Thank you. I figured that may be about Speed Sim, but yeah, couldn't tell until you mentioned it.
I'm personally of the mind to keep Speed Sim labeled as canon for now.

They wouldn't have been hired if they didn't know anything. The lore team is much more than just one person, and that team is under the rule of SEGA and possibly Sonic Team, I imagine.

Mistakes can happen all the time. Just earlier in this thread, someone mentioned how Runners stuff is still listed on multiple profiles despite this wiki listing that game as non-canon. That doesn't mean we know nothing.

It just seems like the lore team is, well, wrong a lot. To be honest it feels like they mostly exist to be a better communication with SoJ.

The more cogs are in the media creation engine, the more creative noise there's, so the more contradictions will happen because communication and control get limited.

Honestly, my suggestion would be for SEGA to finally release a proper lore webpage or subsection in the Sonic Channel website to have it as a central hub that everyone can access. If the information is public knowledge, then any developer can know it.

Instead, the lore team talks about how "they are working on the timeline" and "we are doing all we can to keep consistency", but time after time there's stuff missing and contradictions all over the place indicating that... there's some serious stuff in need of change. I know that Chris at least has told that they want to have a way of sharing this stuff, and if they do, I think that will help. The moment every fan knows what the official decision is, there'll be less chance of official staff making mistakes since they can easily find information just like fans can.

your character looks like a woman

Fun fact the Sonic movies have now collectively grossed over a billion dollars making it 1 of the 106 movie franchises to ever cross that milestone.
