Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Well, gave Shadow vs Mewtwo a rewatch.

The pre-analyses are absolutely season 3 analysis, but are engaging enough with the info despite dunking on like Ash in Mewtwo's analysis. If you're more familiar with both, they'll be more annoying to sit through. For a first timer? Serve as an aight-ish introduction. The fight is still underwhelming, and the post-analysis is season 3 once again, but the mind hax related shit was poorly explained still. Tracer vs Scout is worse, but the episode wastes a great matchup.

"I pre-programmed a great deal of data into his mind, but his ability to purge it out & apply it to his situation is remarkable."-Gerald Robotnik

I NEED a rematch.
Yeah... Hopefully one day. If it was the second most popular choice for a rematch, it COULD happen, but it's still unlikely considering both Shadow and Mewtwo have a lot of other opponents.
Shadow loses again. You like?
It's possible to argue for a Mewtwo W if you give his game scaling and composite abillities. If they can justify it, I wouldn't mind.

"Mewtwo scales above True Arceus because he's the self-proclaimed strongest Pokémon in the world."-Broomstick or some shit
I think there are Low Outerversal Arguments for the creation trio without scaling to true form Arceus, so Mewtwo could go all the way up there via Rainbow Rocket scaling and consistant in-universe statements lol.

It sounds like they would have to go full composite for both then. I feel like outer Archie would be scrutinzed way more than outer Creation Trio though.

Which statements put Mewtwo up to Creation Trio level? Also I don’t see how Rainbow Rocket stuff would put Mewtwo that high without applying it to other Pokémon used by the Team leaders.

Yeah, that's where everything gets muddied by RPG mechanics. Outerversal Wooper, anyone?

This is just my coping mechanism, but I honestly believe that they made Shadow a Zombot because Shadow would've solved things a lot faster.
I mean according to Ian Flynn, Shadow was ment to go out in a blaze of glory but got cucked instead and what's funny if Shadow was hypothetically an "issue" in the Zombot saga as a hero then he should've been an even bigger issue as an Zombot himself but nope literally didn't play a role for several issues until the end of the saga when Knuckles sacrifice himself to pummel Shadow into the dirt lol!

"This episode's fight animation was originally meant to be significantly different. However, while it was initially rumored that the animator Donimations did a poor job on the fight on purpose because they did not enjoy making VS animations anymore, in actuality, he had been going through struggles with the creative process and personal responsibilities like college at the time, thus forcing him to rush his animation projects, resulting in the fight's current infamous quality."

From the DB Wiki page.
I'm glad this rumor has been cleared up. They did not bare ill will.

Another piece of triva can be found here from the Wiki

"After this episode was released, a video titled "10 DEATH BATTLE Facts You Probably Don't Know!" revealed that Curtis Arnott, Shadow's voice actor, was literally directed to "act worse" to match the tone of Shadow's voice in Sonic Adventure 2, a decision that has been heavily criticized by the Death Battle community since the episode's release."

The Adventure voice cast is beloved now, but I mean the voice acting in the games hasn't been the best received always lol.

Well guys theres going to be a new death battle cast where they will debate Cell vs Metal Sonic. I hope its Liam who argues for Metal Sonic because he was popping off in Kyogre vs Chaos but at the end of the day its a db cast so it dosent really matter.

He was in Chaos side? Really?

You know I've been thinking about this for a while and it's been bugging me since then. So every level in Shadow Generations has some sort of connection to Shadow's past and his future, every level except for Chaos Island.

And my question is: why Chaos Island? I know that WoG has stated it was because the developers of the game wanted to include stuff from Frontiers, but a part of me has to wonder if they chose it for another reason other than that.

I don't think there was a deeper reason. Frontiers is the latest game, popular, and they can re-use assets for a easy level.

“Chaos” Island.
....I want to groan at this. But as a fan of horrible puns, I have to begrudgingly tip my hat to you so well played.

Yeah, that's a fair point to be made. Especially since Sonic Frontiers and Shadow Generations were made with the same engine so I imagine it'd be cost effective to have one stage from a preexisting game.

Now I imagine a scenario where Sonic mentions his adventures on the Starfall Islands to Shadow, and becomes confused when Shadow mentions he's already been there.

So I must ask...

Do you guys think Sonic should boost its maturity level anytime soon? And if so, how high do you think it should go?

The fact that they're even entertaining this match either means they think Zero could beat Cell or that they sort of admit Zero vs Metal was wrong.

Sonic resists Dark Gaia's mind hax and the Ifrit still affected him.
This reminds me. Otherworld can (presumably instantly?) affect the mind of those who could temporarily resist Ifrit's mind hax, which can even work on Sonic, who resists mind hax from Dark Gaia. On paper, would that not give its memory manipulation two layers, since memory manip is a sub-category of mind manip? On top of that, the reality warping aspect of it should even work on Sonic, who previously resisted reality warping from Erazor Djinn. Is the only reason we don't consider it layered hax because it's already 5D? Would it then be factually correct to attribute it 2 layers of memory hax and a layer or reality warping if it wasn't 5D?

It’s not confirmed but I have a hunch that the Colors mind control cannon and the brainwash beam from Runners are also layered.

Memory Manipulation is a little but different, but the Egg Field itself is already layered because it was working on people with emeralds at the end of the story as well.
