RWBY vol 8 discussion thread

Hazel was near death and had his aura depleted, meanwhile oscar took it without issu
I don't know about that especially since Hazel is aura regen king. He was regenerating his aura while getting jumped in V5 so I think there's any reason to think he's low on aura.

No one really scales to blast. The kinetic energy was a direction wave with the explosion being a result in rapid change in air pressure. The people hit with it were evaporated. At least that's how I see it.

I think it’s pretty ridiculous to think that anybody scales to the nuke cane. Clearly it annihilated Salem, Hazel, and killed the whale.

You can argue that the blast came outward from the cane and that’s why Oscar was not hurt, because it never touched him. The whale however literally surrounded the explosion so of course it took the blast and died. The massive amount missing from the whale may just be it disintegrating because that’s what Grimm do when they die.

I wonder...

Given the new death battle they actually give direct energy yields and stats for volume 1 Blake. Sinc we already accept it for Yang, think this can be used?

I think that Death Battle’s math needs to be evaluated before it is accepted. Although at the end of the day we should treat it like any other calc that someone makes.
I mean other than calcs they gave stats like Blake's ribbon being 96 meters long

Doubt it, I don't think Salem is capable of gaining the Maiden powers which is why she has Cinder do it.

Anyways, I'm still wondering how powerful the Staff is. Is it possible to determine that through the dimension it created?

I don't see why that'd be the case. They are just magic and it's not like herself needs them besides giving them to Cinder strengthens her fsction and allows her to be in multiple places at once.

DB calced Em and Merc dodging lightning at Mach 77 and used Oscar dodging lightning Dust as a supporting feat. How well does this hold up?

We would ned to compar them to our own calcs because iirc there was actually a calc don for the feat that yielded something similar, same with the AP feat for the Nevermore which im gonna take care of because i apparently need to rethink my life choices for doing explosion cals wrong for the past three years

Di
It does actually, theyre co-listed as sources by the CRWBY
Did they write the show, yes or no? Are they a creative director? Are they a narrative producer?

If they don't have narrative authority relative to the writers then I no reason to consider their opinions as objective towards the series. This isn't like God of War where they list the people and positions who are capable of giving valid interpretations of a narrative.

Well they used Mercury's second and less impressive dodge which yielded a significantly lower result. Its also strange that they acknowledge Blake dodging Sea Feilong and Sun as well as but didn't calc it.

One thing to note, since Oscar said that he didn’t use all of the energy and still had some leftover, wouldn’t that mean that the High 7-C+ is a base and could actually be higher?
It is barely High 7-C+, so not enough evidence to upscale, he'll need double the energy not leftovers.

Posted the evaluation, but lots of backlog in the evaluation thread.

In the infamous Yang vs Tifa match, they cited a fan-theory that Yang was trained by Qrow which turned out to be false, so I think there should be more evidence that the researchers are in contact with reliable and official lore sources for RWBY.

Theyre literally cited as sources by the writers of RWBY

When and where did they cite a fan-theory? Although Yang being trained by Qrow at some point is definitely not out of the question, seeing how they are very close family (not saying he would’ve trained her like Taiyang).
