RWBY vol 8 discussion thread

When and where did they cite a fan-theory? Although Yang being trained by Qrow at some point is definitely not out of the question, seeing how they are very close family (not saying he would’ve trained her like Taiyang).
(1:15) "and being trained all her life by hero legend of an uncle" "Trained by Qrow Branwen"

In the first episode of Chapter 3, Ruby says that you can tell that Yang learned a lot from her dad because she is a great fighter.

Bump. Was wondering if anyone here knows how to calc this?
Calculating the size of the platforms isn't an issue (but would be redundant since the size of Atlas is vastly superior), but don't know what would be calc'd exactly with the foggy barrier/background thing.

How are dimensions usually calc'd then? And why would that not be applicable here?

They need a reference (object of known size) in the background, or a statement about their size. Often through having stars and celestial objects in the background.

Would the Vaults be a good substitute, as Ambrosius used them as a reference and could be used for its calc? Or do they have the same problem?

Are there any other feats from Volume 8 to be looked at? I was hoping to have the Staff upgraded but apparently the dimension can't be calc'd.

The only relevant scalable ap feats are Penny's feat, the cane feat, and the bomb, so that's all of them honestly (the bomb feat is very weird scaling wise imo but I'm not gonna argue over it).

Honestly it seems pretty consistent with the other calc for the maidens and imo the low end for the bomb should be used since it is a feat way beyond what normal huntsmen have shown so far and the scaling should end with vine or be treated as an outlier

Probably end with vine as it would only scale to AP if someone one shot someone who was comparable to his aura basically

Reminder that Pyrrha fought Cinder on equal terms in Vol 3, while Emerald, Mercury, and Cinder fought Amber in Vol 3 as well.

I still stand by everyone having the same AP -.-

Did she tho?

And did they tho? Merc and Em got kinda stomped when Amber used her maiden powers, they only beat her base form

I mean yeah. They won and beat her, sure they were losing at first but the fact that they did damage to her and took down her aura means they are around the same tier.

Pyrrha was doing legitimate damage to Cinder and was not one shot by Cinder either. The show has consistently proven that there’s no real gap between characters in terms of AP (sure stronger characters but not enough for massive tier gaps).

Even Oscar was hurting Hazel and Ozpin doesn’t provide an AP boost, only a skill one. Granted Hazel was only getting pecked but still he was being pushed back.

Cinder took down Amber’s aura, while Amber was fully using her maiden powers.

Not to mention that Cinder at 15 (or around there) was able to defeat a professional huntsman so yeah differences in tier between professional huntsmen and in-training huntsmen don’t exist.

The gun part of everyone’s weapons don’t increase or decrease yet do the same amount of damage to everyone when shot.

I can't agree with scaling any Volume 1-3 characters to the Maidens.

There is a big difference, considering Vernal one shot Weiss's Summon, which should be stronger than herself. A single arm was capable of stomping a Paladin, and Team RWBY had to work together just to beat a prototype. Vernal was utterly toying with Weiss, and Raven would be comparable if not superior to her. And that's without using Maiden powers, and Qrow is equal to her base stats.

Cinder was effortlessly toying with Jaune in Volume 5, and Ruby believed she was about to kill him when she got more serious.

Vernal one shot an incomplete form of Weiss’ summon (Weiss was in the process of creating it).

Vernal toying with Weiss is not a strength feat, that is a skill feat. There’s no reason to assume that Vernal has more AP than Weiss when Weiss can produce summons that can pierce through Hazel.

Vol 6 takes place hours or a couple of days after Vol 5 and RWBY is capable of fighting on equal terms with Grimm that give Qrow trouble, in fact Ruby kills the main Grimm with Qrow while Weiss is destroys the wings.

There is no AP increase in terms of story between Vol 3-6. Sure there’s an increase in skill, however in Vol 4 Ruby can cut off Tyrian’s tail, which he used to block Qrow’s attacks.

RNGR did not have a canonical strength increase between Vol 3 and 4, only like 4 months of them traveling and fighting random Grimm on their own.
