It is inline with the "transform into subtance/energy/moleculars to move fast and reassemble" type of teleportation. It is short range, but it fits into a type of teleportation in the wiki and has explictly been called teleportation.

True, but it's not like it's gonna fall from such a tremendous height, it falling is probably in the megatons. Either that, or double or triple digit Kilotons.

If I were to guess, unless those cables happen to have shields of some sort, Atlas itself is much more vulnerable to simply floating away from the rest of the Kingdom if the cables were broken. It would cause a massive disruption if it were to happen.
