Just watched episode 5, few standouts for me:
-Winter and her whole position in regards to Ironwood grooming her entire military career so she could be the Winter maiden, I think is well done. It's a mature and responsible stance she's taken in response to that, something I'd argue we hardly ever see in the main cast
-"Extending" your aura. Is this new? Or have we seen it b4?
-Penny's little dilemma in regards to being the "protector" of Mantle while have to uphold Ironwoods plans is an interesting idea
-Jacque continues to be an ass
-Jaune somehow attracting all the older ladies... and then they have the audacity to credit it to his dumbass haircut. Hogwash I say, hogwash!

I honestly think the scene with Neon black eye is more to a comedic scene.

@Schnee You can still hurt people that have Aura with hard enough blows, hell both Yang and Roman have been knocked out through their aura

I really think taking it as a comedic scene is a better idea than just saying that aura only makes blows less powerful and even kinetic energy can get through without breaking it.

Characters have been extending their aura through their armor and weapons. Blake displayed the ability to do projectile sword shockwaves with her aura a couple of times (probably how Qrow does it too), so I think that is what is refereed to.
Volume 4 and 5 were very badly paced, and obviously rushed from the plot/dialogue/animation, but so far Volume 6 and 7 are looking to be better than Volume 3.
So Aura largely reduces damage, not completely block it; also explains why characters feel some pain.
