Could we just not post the list of words on the forum/wiki itself so people simply know better? Maybe in a rule page? What is being discussed here is just a largely symbolic ban, remember? Nobody is getting crucified.
Definitely not all of it. I understood it as a vulgar insult, but not a slurand probably not all of it either.
I can understand that. My stance of a ban was mainly to maintain standards. But I'm willing to make an exception in this particular case and settle for a strict warning. But this should definitely be clarified more in order to avoid confusion in the future. Can I just say, again, I wasn't even aware that this word in particular was actually considered that bad. Kinda hard to avoid saying a word that's allegedly super bad when there's no indication anywhere on site that it is super bad. Bad sure, maybe on par with something like "****" or "asshole" in my opinion, but that bad? There is simply no way I would have known without it being said anywhere on site, which it evidently isn't.
FANDOM is based in America, and they treat it as a slur, so unfortunately, we do as well. I personally have no problems with the word and some of my friends use it on a regular basis offsite. From what I understand, America and literally just America, and probably not all of it either.
But the problem is that it wasn't simply telling him to stop using mental gymnastics, it was actively mocking him through a meme designed to mock an argument that should be relatively straightforward, as previewed by the top vs. bottom.Being condescending and using a slur word are two different things. People get heated and say stuff like "don't use mental gymnastics" in almost every thread. This is not a banworthy offense. Warning-worthy, sure.
It doesn't, but it makes the root of the offense feel more justifiable in that it wouldn't have been said had the instigator not deliberately egged it on. It isn't the same level of offense, but seeing as how plenty of people don't see the word as a slur as opposed to a generic insult, I believe the level is a bit exaggerated. An offense worth 5 points doesn't justify an offense worth 50 points in return.
Its not lol. Its just people in this generation wanting to cry over small things and getting pissed over something thats not worth even getting mad about. Id argue that they are just following what everyone else is doing because its the normI'm in America and I've never heard of it as a slur, it was just one of those profane insults.
If FANDOM sees it as a slur, damn
Meant people my age but ok I understandlet's not start with "wow these zoomer snowflakes are so easily offended i was born in le wrong generation", odds are if you walked into a street and yelled it the only people getting upset would be middle-aged
Kind of an unnecessary remarkYep, there are plenty of special snowflakes here
Agreed. Even if I do genuinely feel that way.Kind of an unnecessary remark
I'm not sure if that would be allowed. Didn't Iapitus get in trouble for linking to an image that contained a banned word? Although I don't quite remember if he uploaded that picture onto the wiki or not.Take a picture of it or upload the list to a different site, which can then be linked in the rules section.
Ah thanks for looking into thoI looked into it, the general slur filter is private; only the Russian one is publically viewable.
Would it at least be worth asking them? They haven't raised a fuss about the Russian one being viewable.I could probably make the wiki slur filter publicly viewable, but Fandom would not like that.
I gave him a lil warning but I'm not a staffExcuse me but have staff given speedster352 a warning regarding their behavior in this thread?
Speedster already was banned before due similar things, spite matches etcExcuse me but have staff given speedster352 a warning regarding their behavior in this thread?
